La Hacienda is my favorite restaurant in madison. Not all of the items are amazing but the Rib eye steak items are good (steak cheese and poblano) and my dad likes the mole chicken enchiladas. The real treat there is that big smoking grill that you see everyone order. It and the nachos are the only things I have seen hispanic people eat there. I like to order the table side grill, or "Parrillada" with the "regular" meats cooked extra spicy or "Chilanga". If you like spicy food you will love this. I sometimes order a small poblano and cheese quesadilla (corn) for a $1.50 as an appetizer. La Hacienda provides its customers with free chips and Salsa (House Pico de Gallo). The Horchata is good and the margaritas are good for blended type margaritas which they use a blue agave tequila for. I am a purist thou and prefer traditional (authentic) ones with 3 parts tequila, with 2 parts citronge (or cointreau), and 1 part ripe mexican lime. If you like Pedros, and Laredos then your taste in mexican is very americanized. I very much prefer La Hacienda and Guadalajara (for steak tacos, torta mexican, and gorditas). The deli at La Rosita is also good for tacos, burritos and such. Most of the mexican groceries have good food in the delis, especially on weekends when the carnitas and tamales are made. I want to try the empanada guy by the capital.

My mother was in town for Mothers Day and over the years Ive heard this restaurants name tossed around so I decided to give it a try. I was disappointed immediately upon walking just by looking at the table setup and whatnot, but my mom insisted that we give them a chance. The beverage waitress completely ignored the fact that I had my son with me when she came to the table with water...I had to ASK that she serve him water...hes 2. :-| the other waiter we had for food was very nice and polite. I ordered a Burrito Chico with chicken and it was VERY watery. I dont think that they strained the meat (which moreso resembled pulled pork). My mom ordered the burrito grande and hers was the same way. It also was very bland...not much flavor to it at all. The chip salsa was very watery, although spicy as well. I would say the best part of this experience were the four suckers they handed us with the bill. My mom said her burrito was good but I think she was just saying that so I wouldnt feel worse about bringing her to this hole in the wall.

Worst dining experience I think Ive ever had! Begged three times for our drinks (and the food is salty!) before she finally brought it. Asked a couple times for extra chips that finally came when we were leaving - but the salsa is what we were really hoping for - and it never came at all. BUT the ultimate worse part? We ordered this meat platter that comes on an open flame to the table - and ALL our food BURNED UP - Im talking stinky smokey fire - right before our eyes!! After waiting for several minutes around a bonfire of our dinner, the dumb waitress finally comes by and asks if we want to box up the stinky burned mess!! WOW - THE WORST dining experience Ive ever had! And after all this, no tip (of course), and no reimbursement offered.

Two people told us La Hacienda was good. So we decided to try it. Food: low end to mediocre. even the rice and beans were sub par. Ambiance: like a previous review said, cafeteria style. I was immediately disappointed when I walked in. We said to each other, "well the food must be really good then." Sadly we were wrong. Service: The waiter was quiet and polite. It seemed like he was the only waiter inside and had to work roughly 10 tables. One staff person seemed to be a manager or owner, and did nothing the entire service to help any of the overworked staff. So what did our friends see that we missed? Maybe lunch is not the time to go. Or maybe its a running joke. Id take the authentic establishment two blocks south any day.

This place is terrible! My wife and I recently visited and both our dishes had no taste to them at all. The seating is also terrible with all of the tables grouped together in the center of the room like a high school cafeteria. Trust me when I say the food and seating go hand in hand! You can save alot of money and get much better food by driving further south down Park Street and going to Taco Bell. Better yet there are 2 other Mexican Restaurants on Park: the "Guadalajara" which is cheap a bit small/dirty but pretty good food and very friendly staff, or "El Pastor" which has a better atmosphere/ booth seating/ about $25 for two with a carbonated beverage(free refillls).

And the manager was doing what all managers they watch there employes.... i understand this is your own opinion but what the hell is a bad review going to do to anyone. thanks for your opinion but nobody cares. i dont ever watn to see your name on here again. my family goes there knowing we will get good food great service and a fun night to just sit eat and talk for as long as we want. Everyone is titled to there opinion even you but when it comes to La hacienda your not.

The food here is always on point. I never leave unsatisfied. The free salsa is a little watery but is otherwise tasty. They dont overload the chips with salt like many other establishments. If you want a meal to share with a few people get la parrilla which means "The Grill". It consists of several varieties of meat to make your own mini burritos. The smell of the chorizo alone makes me salivate but theres chicken and steak as well. If you like authentic Mexican give La Hacienda a try.

Pretty sure my experiences keep getting worse and worse when i come here. I was always able to see the same faces and have a great experience each time i went, but now with a lot of new people the flow is off. If theyre really busy i dont even think about going. The food is always good dont get me wrong, but the service or order will be off. Take out is out of the question, the order is always wrong. Now a days i prefer el pastor, same price if not cheaper and more portions.
