I should caveat this by saying that we did not have the hibachi grill experience, we ate in the booth instead. This was by choice, but still it may differ from your experience. The Good: The food was very good and fresh, other than the sushi, which was a little bland and less than fresh. The sushi was still good, it just did not taste fresh. The bad: Rice is extra...its not in the menu, it was not communicated to us, and quite honestly, Im not used to paying for steamed rice that usually is part of the meals price. I was a little taken back when I saw an unnamed $1.00 on my bill so I asked. 1.50 extra for fried rice. Its not a bank-breaker, but it would seem this restaurant likes to nickel and dime you. There were only 2 servers that I saw in the whole restaurant, so you can guess how the service was. It was a long time to even get our bills, and a refill on my water, forget about it. And last but not least, the pay style is to go up to the register, where you fill out your tip right in front of the server who served you. This almost feels like a pressure system to get you to pay a little more on the service that quite honestly was "meh". Dennys sometimes does the same thing, and I dont appreciate feeling like a "bad guy" when I dont feel the server has done a satisfactory job and I dont want to tip well. 2 stars for terrible service, rice that doesnt come free like most everywhere else, and pressure at payment.

No stars for this horrid establishment. First off, we walk in and nobody acknowledges us for 15 minutes finally my husband stops someone to ask if we may be seated... then we sit and order server brings drinks and bam shes done taking care of us, she never returns to check on us, fill drinks, etc. what really topped everything off was us having to ask other servers for our check which our original so called "server" added a $7 gratuity for sushi and for two people and a baby... oh dont worry there was no gratuity paid and we will NEVER be back please BEWARE. Anyone knows eating out with your baby is hard but imagine having no service and having to continually ask other servers to do what your server should be doing. This place is horrible and food was crap and cold. Do not eat here! So so bad. Work on your service, customers should never have to ask others servers for refills check etc and server has enough nerve to add a $7 gratuity to our check for doing nothing for us. What a shame, dont waste your time going here worst restaurant experience EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

We used to eat here quite a bit. Is a very sad thing to see this place go down. The temperature inside had to be just under 80 degrees. When we asked about it we were given the really ridiculous answer of " it is due to the 18,000 btu grilles" never have we experienced such a muggy environment in this place before. I bet the thermostats are set at about 78 degrees! But what was even tackler was hearing the cashier constantly justify adding an 18% tip charge to customers bills, and then tell them it is so that the chef, and server will each get half! Several people contested the charge. Tips are an expression of satisfaction. Not an automatic charge!! I say if they cannot afford to pay their people a decent wage, then maybe you should shut down. Needless to say, we will not be back which saddens us as this used to be the best place to get sushi in Clarksville.

I absolutely loved it! Today was my familys first time ever going to Yamato. The staff were all very welcoming and it was very clean. We never had to ask for refills on anything. The chef did an amazing job and kept everyone entertained. I was worried because it was my daughters first time at a hibachi grill, and because shes so little I thought she would get bored. The chef proved me wrong! He engaged her in the meal as well and even gave her a couple of toys to play with while he cooked! We had an amazing time and the food there was better than any of the other hibachis that we have been to here in Clarksville. I guarantee we will be going back!

but the service never improves. It's hit or miss as far as chefs go. One chef was so careless that he let his fork land in a chair next to a newborns head! Another on splattered flaming oil on a man and his 4 year old daughter. And yet another one let the vegetables touch the raw chicken as he served them! The servers never bring what you ask of them then are rude when you remind them. And they charge a huge gratuity no matter how many are in your party! Don't bother trying to ask them to take it off because the service is bad because they will argue till the death!

My boyfriend & I ate here tonight and I must say I was a bit disappointed. I have always heard great things about this restaurant, but our experience was kinda crappy, to be honest. The waitress new nothing about the items on the menu, she seemed bothered by us & took forever to refill my drink. We sat at the grill, the show was ok, however, I had grease splattered all over my shirt & arm which was an accident by the grill cook. At this point I decided to get our food to go. We will not be back to yamatoes.

I took my family there on the recommendation of a friend...and I was very impressed. There is not much in the way of entertainment in this small town in TN, but this was a great start to the evening. The food was fresh and prepared in a very entertaining fashion. The waitresses, the cooks, and the entire staff were friendly and they made the entire dining experience pleasurable. My mother loved it, which is a huge plus in my book. My dad did too, but he is easier to please. I will definitely go back.

By far one of my favorite places to eat! A little pricey but sooo worth it. The guy cooking our food was SO HILARIOUS. He asked me if I wanted some chicken and started passing out everyones food, he handed me like three grains of fried rice and one piece of cut chicken. We all died laughing. Of course he filled my plate up HUGE after he messed with us. The gun-yum sauce is where its at! Their sushi is MWAH good. My small kids were having a great time as well. We go as much as possible.

They do not look the best compared to other Hibachi restaurants (as this area has a large selections of the genre), however, they ubdoubtedly ARE the best. Their wait staff is very courteous, they are family owned, and they love their customers. Their food is absolutely delicious, and also presents the best value amongst other competing retsaurants of the same type, giving you more for less. I come here at least once every 3 weeks or so. I highly recommend them.

I would first like to to say that the food was great...my reason for giving only 2 stars is because they charged me and my husband and 3 children $28 in gratuity....We are big believers in tipping well for great service...but I could not believe they charged us almost $30 on our ticket when there was only 2 adults. I hope this is not something they normally would do, so i would suggest to ask before you order if they are going to add gratuity in your ticket.
