My daughter & I went to Kohana last night for dinner. I was impressed with the look & decor. The staff was pleasant. Thats where the good things I have to say about this restaurant end. I ordered nigiri sushi which was not the freshest or worst Ive ever had, but certainly not the best Ive eaten. My daughter ordered the steak teriyaki, without the teriyaki sauce. What she received on her plate was not edible. The RIBEYE steak was nothing but fat. Im aware that the flavor of a ribeye comes from marbling, but this steak had huge deposits of fat, not marbling. Im willing to bet my lunch money the miso soup comes out of a package, because Ive got some in my cupboard right now from Walmart. The salad dressing was nothing but minced ginger & vinegar, quite disgusting. The fried rice was not actually fried rice, either. It had no soy sauce what so ever. My daughter ate a piece of lettuce, a spoon of soup, and cut off a piece of steak for her & then for me after she tried it. I tried her soup, salad, & fried rice, as well. The quality of her dinner was subpar at best. I was sorely disappointed. When I received my check, it had a cost of $45. I was charged for my daughters meal that was nothing but foul. I spoke to a manager that informed me it was the owners policy that if a customer is offered something else but chooses to decline, they are to be charged for the original meal. I told her that was fine but Id never come back to the restaurant. When the server came back to collect the check, I instructed him that if I am to be charged for the meal, I want it remade. I took the meal to go & dropped it off to my boyfriend. I asked him later on yesterday evening how it was...He ate the steak & tossed the rest...This was our first & last experience at Kohana. I would not suggest this place to anyone.

I have yet to see a true Japanese sushi restaurant in Clarksville. This is no exception. I spent nearly $40.00 on one entrée and two glasses of Plum wine. What the hell? I didnt even order the sushi since they have no by the piece sushi menu like a real one would have. My friend had a sushi roll which looked more like a deconstructed Chipotle burrito covered in mayonnaise and "spicy sauce". They have no torro, uni or natto bean. Lack of these is a sure sign you are in the wrong place. I got the eel entrée assuming it couldnt be screwed up. I received a cheap plastic bento box with a cup of cooked rice and six small slices of eel for $15.00. Anywhere that has a sushi roll comprised of tuna and cream cheese is not a true sushi restaurant. Cheese and fish NEVER go together. The cream cheese won-tons on the menu are also a good tip off that you are really in a Chinese restaurant trying to pass itself off as a Japanese one. RING OF FIRE dynamite roll covered with fresh salmon and crunch. What is crunch? Is that Captain Crunch? Nestle Crunch? I could go on but enough already. Just dont go.

I love this restaurant. I cant get enough of it. Even if you dont like sushi or are scared of the raw aspect dont worry. There is a roll that will suit your tastes. Just ask, the staff is sooo friendly. I met the owner, Doris, while I was there and you will never meet a nicer person. She aint bad on the eyes either if you catch my drift ;). Definitely try their specialty rolls, and if you can handle a little bit of jalapeno try the Tiger Eye Roll. The Jalapeno adds that little kick and the cream cheese just gives it a delicious flavoring to compliment the salmon. The interior design is a breath of fresh air, and the atmosphere is top notch. Their menu items are good too. I recommend the Don buri (sp) or the katsu (sp). I have to mention their logo. I just love it. It is as beautiful as they come, and it suits the restaurant so well. Five stars from me

This is my favorite restaurant in town! FINALLY, a restaurant just for sushi. The staff knows me by name I visit so frequently. They are and have always been very pleasant and friendly. Service has always been excellent. The products that they use are always fresh, fragrant, and colorful. This is real sushi! Every bite is like heaven. My favorite specialty rolls are the Big Boss, Tiger Eye, and Phenoix. They also have a wonderful sushi lunch special during the week where you can get two sushi rolls, soup and salad for just $10! You cant beat that. Much better sushi than Hananoki. The restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. The atmosphere is quiet, calming, and modern. I love this place.

We made a reservation for my sons graduation dinner. We planned 18 for the reservation. The lady on the phone was very polite. We arrived exactly at 9:30 when we were supposed to be there and ordered already as the kitchen closes qt 10:00.But,with traffic and the caios that goes with graduation we were running behind. The servers were very polite and helpful. They Handel each and everyone of us who were trying to order. Very attentive. We got our food around 9:45 and way past the time we were to be done. Not once did they rush us out or make us feel like it. They did great. The food was very good and delicious. Will return.

My husband and I loved it. We ordered the Hollywood roll, it was delicious. We also had the qyoza and katsudon and steak teriyaki. All was very tasty! We were impressed by the fast and friendly service. It was a little pricey but we never go out and the food was well worth it for us. We move all around with my husbands job and I think this is one of the top, and we are very picky when it comes to Japanese food. I highly recommend going.

This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, the service was pleasant, however, the food was not so great. When you think of Japanese dinning, you picture foods like a dish from Hananoki, and that is not what you get here. To put it mildly, you can create a Kohana dish by thawing out Tysons frozen finger foods for a lot less... nevertheless, they have a full clientele. I will not be repeat customer, but again, the atmosphere is very nice.

I had friends visiting from out of state. We wanted sushi for lunch. We ordered a roll w tuna and my girlfriend took a bite and pulled out a bone. It was the very first piece any of us ate. We were all so disgusted we quit eating. We told the manager we didnt want anything and showed her the bone. She took all of the food and brought us the full priced bill. We paid and went back to my place and ordered a pizza. Ive never been back.

We recently moved from San Antonio, Texas and were worried there wouldnt be any good sushi restaurants around Clarksville. We ordered solely from the sushi menu, so we cannot attest to the rest of the menu, but the sushi was fabulous! Most of the rolls are very big! You definitely get your moneys worth here. Chef makes some wonderful specialty rolls and does not skimp on the ingredients. We will return!
