The only thing that saved this place was the quality of the food. Service was horrible. Took over 2 hours to get food. I did not even get a water until an hour and a half into our time here. Never got my alcoholic beverage that I ordered & had to walk downstairs to the bar to receive my drink. When I walked down, the bartender had an empty bottle of Titos. He grabbed a pour spout from the bottom of his tip jar and placed it on the Titos - UNSANITARY. My stepmom then asked for a margarita & the server claimed the restaraunt did not have margaritas. Every bar has tequila, sour, triple sec, and limes. None of the staff was properly trained or did not seem to perform to standard for the volume of this restaurant. The server was clearly struggling and had the help of ONE other server who only catered to the 2 tables that had alcohol on their tabs. We then had a food runner approach our table and give us attitude as she tried to discern where the food went which is completely unacceptable!!! Not one time did a manager visit the table to ensure us that everything was okay or that this was unusual character for their service. Seriously disappointed. Ive never been a witness to such poor service or lack of server knowledge.

My first time going to this restaurant was on mothers day! They messed up our reservation so we had to sit outside. While sitting outside waiting for our brunch (by the way it came out one plate at a time for 12 people by the timemy son received his food everyone was done eating) The hostess then sits anyone guest and her four legged friend by our party. We request a manager to ask the lady to put a leash on her dog because he or she kept wonder near our table. So she did. Then 20 minutes goes by she let the do go again. We ask for a manager again. The manager says that the restaurant allows dogs. I advised that this was in fact my first time at this restaurant and had I known that they allow dogs I would not have been there. I advised the second manager that we asked the first manager to speak with the lady and ask her to keep the dog on the leash because my children had life threatening allergies. I was advised that every Sunday during allergy season I shouldnt bring my children. I will never return to this restaurant without a public apology. I will also be contacting the news. I am outraged! I be contacting food safety also?

Food prices are outstanding during happy hour, otherwise its about average. I had no complaints with the taste or quality of food. Ample selection of food, appetizers, and beer to satisfy the toughest critic. The server, Kat, was very personable and fun to be around. Not very crowded and a nice escape from the "urban scene" of Chattanooga. Cleanliness of the restaurant was excellent, until you get to the kitchen area. Food handlers wore no gloves, and the manager (I assume since he dressed professionally and wore white compared to the rest of the crew in black) licked his fingers, as if he just couldnt get enough of whatever he was devouring, and then came out to the floor. I could be the Devils advocate and argue that I never saw him touch food afterward, however I never saw him wash his hands either. It was a nice quiet place with great food. Having said that, if youre not going to practice safe food handling, then perhaps you should ditch the open kitchen floor plan and move it out of the sights of dinner guests. J

For my daughter birthday there was RESERVATIONS made at approximately 7pm. We did not get seated til 8:37pm. Took over 20 minutes to get just our drinks. Took another 20 minutes to get our orders after the drinks. Took the waitress 15 minutes to come back to inform us that there was no lasagna which a fourth of the party order. There was over 20 members in this party we only had ONE WAITRESS WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM MANAGEMENT.INQUIRE TO THE WAITRESS WHAT IS RATIO FOR WAITRESS TO PARTY...FROM VERBATIM WAITRESS RESPONSE WAS MUST HAVE OVER 30 MEMBERS IN PARTY TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE ACCOMENDATING WAITER. Meanwhile the party besides is had 2 waiters with an estimate about 15 people... WAITRESS did not check on us for drinks had to ask several times....WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. Also if you make reservations and an emergency comes up that you cant make it they WILL BE CHARGED 100 DOLLARS IF YOU DO NOT CANCEL 48 HOURS PRIOR

First time I ate there I was not impressed it was prom night and the chicken was disgusting and it cost 15$. Two years later a friend was raving about how good it is so I gave it a second shot, my house salad was phenomenal! But the tuna which is "highly suggested" was cold so they took it back and brought out the same meal again and still wasnt appealing. I guess the third time is the charm because I enjoy this place now, its just a bit overpriced I love the house salads so much you dont get much for 5.50 or so but its one of my favorites and you can never go wrong with the shrimp and grits. I must confess I was skeptical about it at first but its a really good meal. If your a treasure hunter go to the knitting mill right behind it the restaurant actually connects right to it and the store is filled with vast amounts of old vintage goods

Bad food, worse service. My coworkers and I decided to give this place a second chance after a not so great first visit, and we all agreed to never eat at Food Works again. Our server (JW on the receipt) was the absolute RUDEST person Ive experienced on the North Shore and was only friendly when she brought us the checks. We were on our lunch break and waited 35 minutes, AFTER we placed our order, for cold sandwiches. When we asked if they were suppose to be ice cold, JW angrily informed us that yes they were. I guess we were confused by the menu stating, "marinated, grilled chicken". She also scoffed at us while we ordered and complained about the previous diners where we could hear her. Its a shame because it really seems like an awesome place from the outside.

The angus burger and fries were bland. My husband got the roast beef and cheddar but it was bland as well. He was happy with the mashed potatoes. They were about the only thing we had with flavor. Good thing we had a gift certificate because I wouldnt have paid to go there. Our service was decent. They managed to shove two tables together and put 8 LOUD kids right behind us. Our fault--we should have went while school was in session so we didnt have to hear the vulgar talk.

The Three staff at the bar seemed totally disinterested despite observing us as we entered. We had to ask if could order (server standing by us doing nothing looked very annoyed to be asked). Cheesecake was tasteless and had super sweet caramel sauce oozed all over it, making it even less appealing. Waitress all but threw the bill at us, then disappeared, so we had to wait to just settle our bill and leave. Disappointing for Chattanooga

Ive been here numerous times and seem to have pretty consistent experiences. This is a locally owned place that likes to use local ingredients. Always pretty good food. Always kind of slow service. The building is super cool, but somehow the atmosphere just never feels right. The (mostly weird) art doesnt match the old time building. If going to Sunday brunch, expect a line. Get the brisket hash if its on the menu - fantastic!!
