been going to gaslight for a few months now with my wife. Overall it is a great place. Friday and Saturdays have always been a blast whenever we go. Two things have happened in the past week that will severely limit how often we go back. I know that none is perfect but the girl that was bartending on last Sunday is the first. They are usually closed on Sundays but from what I heard they were seeing if they have enough people to open on Sundays on a regular basis. I thought Sunday would be something different so checked it out. Im one that understands if someone is busy it will take some time to get a drink but if youre not really busy then it shouldnt be more than a couple of minutes. I had 2 drinks. My first I had to wait almost 15 minutes before I was served. The second was half an hour. The bartender, who Ive seen working off and on was busy talking to her friends about personal stuff both times. She was not busy at all. I will add that the other bartenders who work the other days, Melissa and I think Job and another guy whose name I dont remember are always great. When I inquired if one of them would be working, the bartender stopped just short of being rude when she told me that Sunday was her day. We will not be back on a Sunday if they open again with her as the bartender. The second thing that happened this week occurred last night. My wife and I had been telling a few of our friends what a great place this bar is and finally got them to join us. We went and shortly after arriving were informed that they are not allowing vaping or electronic cigs inside anymore. Now I know that some of the vaps can be annoying especially when the person blowing the vapor is stupid but most people arent like that. I dont personally smoke or vape but my wife does and so does a couple of my friends. I thought at first it was just a customer that didnt know what they were talking about but was quickly informed that it came from the owner of the bars mouth along with the fact it was illegal to vape inside a bar. Im gonna just say here that I know for a fact that it is not illegal to vape inside a bar in Greenville sc. It is illegal to smoke but not vape. If the owner is telling people its illegal, he is wrong. A lot of people do the vaping thing instead of smoking when they drink as a replacement and telling them they have to go outside to do it is idiotic and short sighted. If they continue to come to the bar, they wont stay as long so that hurts sales. Theres a whole argument I could make aboutby hat but will end there. Since this review is a lot longer than I originally intended I will just say that neither me and my wife not my friends will be back if they continue this ban. We will go to one of the other bars downtown that have always allowed vaping and as far as I can tell have no intention of stopping.

Great social atmosphere with varying clientele where meeting new people is not complicated by cliques. The clientele is mostly middle aged clientele, mixed with some young professionals, all from very different backgrounds, social preferences, and interests. Most feel very comfortable to be themselves here because of a sense of acceptance that is palpable almost immediately upon entry. This atmosphere embraces the many differences inherent to a group of people, as opposed to adopting a critical, judgemental attitude toward variances. The bartenders are awesome, very personable and quick to learn your name and drink preference. The bars owner is also very present and involved. He makes every attempt to know those that choose to spend their nightlife outings at the GasLight. This also propagates the aforementioned welcoming atmosphere that differentiates the Gaslight from other choices for nightlife activity. One immediately gets a sense that the owner is grateful for your patronage. The prices are very competitive with varying drink specials always showcased among the ever-present $1 jello shot. Everyone is welcomed, no MATTER the night that you choose to visit. However, each day of the week, in an effort to demonstrate the open atmosphere for all people, the owner and staff have established themes for each night of the week. If you would like to participate, call ahead and inquire. Participation is always encouraged. I have enjoyed meeting so many very different people at the Gaslight. Thank you, gaslight, for fostering such an accepting atmosphere. Great things happen when people can feel free to be themselves.

We have been going to the bar for a while now. We arent what we would say "regular" customers but are there about every 4 to 6 weeks. In the past we have had a lot of fun. The bartenders are awesome. All three of them having different personalities that when combined gives an amazing good "vibe". We have never had any issues with them but will not be going back. A while back the bartenders had to kick a few customers out. Said customers then refused to leave and proceeded to get in the bartenders faces as well as any other customers that were around, yelling screaming and pushing. They finally left once the police had been called. The right decision was made that night... The customers giving the problems were told not to come back. This past week we walked in and this same couple was there drinking. We will not give our money to someplace that allows such behavior toward its employees and other customers. We feel sorry for the bartenders that are still having to serve people that treat them that way. We gave a four star review because in the past its been a five. Now we would rate it a one because of the short sighted "vision" of whoever decided to allow them to keep coming back.

Ive been here multiple times and wont be back on a Wednesday or anytime when that specific bartender is the only one working. The Hispanic bartender is either playing pool instead of bar tending or too busy dealing with certain side effects of recreational activity to do his job effectively. Ive only seen two other bartenders work there. I dont know there names but one is a sexy red head and then another guy. The redhead is the only one that works through the week besides the Hispanic with the other guy working weekends with the Hispanic guy as well as her. Ar least thats what Ive seen. my advice is avoid the bar if it is just the Hispanic guy but if one of the other bartenders are there, stay and have fun. If rating the nights without him or when someone was working with him(apparently the weekends) it would be a solid 5 star. I will say that watch out for the female, she doesnt put up with nonsense. If your causing trouble, she ends it immediately and apparently, doesnt let you come back. Which is awesome if youre not there for trouble and just relax. Overall though this bar is fun and drama free with classy people that like to have fun.

Sexy Couple
The experience is great...not as good as a couple of months ago but still a fun time. Our biggest complaint is that they have put a table in the way of walking to your car if you park in the front. They used to have the table to the side but apparently have moved it directly in the way of the walk way. I know it probably sounds stupid but we feel its crazy to have a table directly blocking the path to the parking lot that right beside the door. Other than that the female bartenders are awesome! The guy, Job?, comes across as not being able to handle being busy. Hes fun but he spends too much time with people he knows and appears too stressed at bar tending with people he doesnt know from what we observed tonight.
