First thing you’ll notice when you walk through the front door is all the dollar bills on the ceiling, walls, pretty much everywhere. It’s...interesting. It was a busy lunch hour at the pub, and we thankfully got the only table available. The waitress was friendly and our food came fast. We had the Fish N Chips and the Fried Shrimp basket. Fish was good - fresh, but not amazing. Thick, good-size piece of meat. They gave us a lot of shrimp in the basket and we had trouble finishing all of it! Not a bad meal, just not super memorable. The tartar sauce was boring, tasted like mayonnaise. I also had the locally-brewed grapefruit shandy, which was light, smooth and went really well with the meal.

Was a neat spot. Location was great. I was impressed form the time I walked in being the choice in decoration (money on all the walls and ceilings with previous customers names and comments). The wings were really good (buffiyaki). Bar tenders seemed a bit distracted and not very tentative. Other than that I liked it. Plus I was there the weekend of the funerals for the Mother Emanuel AME Church Victims and the restaurant was donating a dollar of proceeds from beer sells to the churchs foundation. I think that was great.

Great pub!! They had really great cheep beer specials, and they also had fancy local brews on tap if you are interested in trying some local stuff. We read that they had the best Fish & Chips in Charleston, so we both ordered the Fish & Chips. Best Fish & Chips Ive ever had. Hot, crispy, flaky, tender fish! Hot and delicious fries, yummy coleslaw, and great tartar sauce. The bartenders were friendly and fast. It was a great experience all the way around!!

This is by far my favorite dive bar in Charleston. My family owns a vacation home in North Charleston and we make sure to come here every time. The location is great being right in the heart of downtown Charleston with the bay very close by. The prices are very affordable and the staff is always friendly and quick. The dollar bills on the wall are my favorite- never fail to find me and my SOs each time we come back. Highly recommend!

We visited for dinner and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. It is a small place so if youre wanting to eat, go a little earlier since it is a bar. We had Grilled Chicken Nachos and Fish n Chips as entrees; delicious!! The fish n chips were better than other restaurants in town that claim to be the "best". We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience here!! We highly recommend! If youre in town, you gotta try it!

This restaraunt has great and resonably priced food. We had fish and chips.....2 large and lightly breaded fillets that were tender and superb with fries that were seasoned just right. The atmosphere is pub style, a little dark which is fine for the younger but a little more difficult for the much older. Dont let that stop you! the food is the best, the prices are great and the manager is the nicest guy.

So so day at one of our favourite places. Shrimp were more like pieces of shrimp instead of the normally large ones we get here. They were also over cooked today. We have raved about The Griffon before so hopefully this was just a one time thing and our next visit wont wind up being our last. They did offer to replace my meal, which I declined, and took it off of the bill.

This place made me like fried seafood. Fish and chips are amazing. Shrimp and chips are amazing. Parking close-by. Dessert place next door. And Waterfront Park half a block away? You can take a free trolly ride to it, eat lunch, drink a brew, have some dessert, and walk all the calories off in the park. Easily one of my favorite places in Chas; love taking visitors here.

We stayed at a hotel next door this week and visited the Griffon twice. Both times my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Excellent service, and good food! The chicken nachos are great, they make the chips themselves. Really enjoyed the service. Highly recommend when looking for a place to just relax and have a few drinks and pub food.

We love the dive bar feel which is exactly what you get at the Griffon. The prices were fair and the food was surprisingly pretty good. The service could have been a little better but it wasnt to the point of complaining to the staff. I would give this bar a 4.5 stars on Google if it were an option.

BEST bar in town!!! Not only is the pub killer to hang out in with the dollar bills all over and the large projector screens that play sports! The food is AMAZING! The fried fish and chicken is the BEST!!! The staff is unique and fun, just an overall great place to hang and grab some food!!!

I read so many good reviews so I decided to try it for the first time and Im glad that I did. It is an amazing bar. the environment was awesome and I loved the tradition of putting up dollar bills everywhere! The beer was great and the staff were absolutely friendly and great.

I picked up two fish and chip meals tonight. Terrible is not the word for what I got. The oil was to hot so the fish and the chips was burnt and overcooked. Even the coleslaw was no good. Stag away. I am sure there is better places to eat at in Charleston.

Neat charm and fast service despite it being very busy. Dollar bills cover the walls. Mozzarella sticks had "award winning" under the words on menu. Dont understand that, they were not super. Friendly staff of guys though!

Awsome local pub!! The food is fantastic and the beer is cold! I think the lowest prices in downtown. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. cant say enough about staff friendly and helpful! We will be back with friends!

Food was fast hot and delish but they only had two people on staff which made the overall service slow and I couldnt see well....so dark inside...but the drink asnd food prices were reasonable for location. Not a bad spot.

Great Pub Atmosphere. Unique decor reminded me of the historic Boarshead Pub in Dublin Ireland. Fish &Chips was excellent. Service was great. Draft selections included wide range of local brews along with Guinness!!

Great for drinks and specifically beer, but I wouldnt go there for the food alone. We had their seafood special (fried flounder, oysters) and it really wasnt anything special. Prices are good service is better.

The place looks unique, it is covered with signed dollar bills inside, walls and ceiling. Food was all right, decent prices, good chilly. My rating is more about the atmosphere, not the food, food would be a 4
