The food was amazing. Our hostess (Asian lady) had a really bad attitude and made this a lousy experience for my son and wife. She did not bring us any bread till the main course arrived, did not give us time to go through the menu and kept pushing us to order. She would not refill our glass with water till the other waiters literally took over and did her job for her. The rest of the staff seemed very friendly and was making the dining experience for their tables a very pleasant and memorable one. My advise, if you end up with the Asian lady, request a change of host staff and your Evening will be much nicer. The food and ambiance itself was very nice. It must not have been our night or hers, but at the price point, the least you expect is not to be treated like an inmate by a stuck up warden.

We are big foodies and this was by far the best restaurant we visited. The food was beyond delicious, Michelle was an amazing waitress and Marco (owner) was super attentive and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is in an old historic house with several different rooms making the layout very interesting, intimate and romantic. We will surely book this restaurant again for at least one meal if not 2...the next time we visit. Thank you for a wonderful meal! Sandy and Dwight

Went here last night for my boyfriends birthday. We went last year and had to return for the best Italian food weve ever had! We had a lovely Irish waitress who was helpful and personable. The mushroom bruschetta is amazing. We had the butternut ravioli and the thin pork tenderloin. Both to die for! The decor is cozy and warm, like youre eating at grandmas house. I wish I lived closer. I would eat here all the time. Not to be missed! Prices are reasonable too. Lots of vegetarian options!

Our favorite restaurant in Newport by far. Everything is fresh and delicious. Service is perfect and its a very romantic setting upstairs....We visit Newport a few times a year from New York and we always have one or two dinners at Mamma Luisa. Reservations are a must....Everything we tried has been good so I cant recommened any one dish youll have to decide for yourself....

Excellent food and perfect sized portions, not too big, not too small. The tartufo was amazing! Service was also top notch: parking is very tight there so our server actually went out back to the small parking lot, stood there, and held a space for us after we parked in spot that couldve got us a ticket! Thats above and beyond. If you come to Newport make sure you visit Mama Luisa!

The best Italian food I have EVER had! It was pricey though, so if youre not looking to spend $20 per person...you might want to look else where. Only negatives about it: you have to pay for bread refills and fountain pop refills. Seriously though, it was worth every penny and I cant wait to return again someday!!! Id drive from MI back here again, just for this Italian food :).

We went to Mama Luisas on a whim and are glad we did. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable with a great bottle of wine being recommended. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy- perfect for enjoying a great meal. Portions were just right and the pasta was fresh and very flavorful as promised. My only complaint is I wish we had room for dessert.

Authentic in taste, ambience, experience. You feel like you are in a charming, unpretentious, cozy family restaurant in Italy. The homemade pasta with red pepper flakes, olives, mushrooms, and of course olive oil / garlic is divine. The veggie platter family style to share is perfection - especially the buttery spinach. A reliable go-to place.

The restaurant was recommended to us by the Marriott. The food and the service was exceptional. We are vegetarians and the waitress took her time to tell us about our options. All our entrees were very tasty and the desserts topped it all. When I come back to Newport, this would be one of the places I would stop by again,

Everything about our dining experience was excellent, food, ambiance and service. Norma, our server was helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. We were so pleased with our experience we will most likely have my Wifes special birthday with our entire family there. It works for vegetarians and even our grand children.

One word says it all .great. We were luck to walk in without reservations and were seated right away. It just got better from there. The waiter was always present but not over walking. Now as for the good there were 4 of us and we ordered four different meals and all were, yes you guessed it great.

If you love authentic Italian food, you need to go to Mama Luisa. The best Italian that my wife and I have had in years!! Mama Luisa needs to move closer to Pittsburgh. NOTE: we are Italian and have been to Italy a number of times so this is as real of a review as you are going to find!!

There was a very kind staff who took care of us on short notice and served up a delicious meal. The goat cheese appetizer and pasta bolognese were favorites as was (of course) the tiramisu. I expect youd usually do well to make a reservation but we lucked out - highly recommend!

Delicious! Radicchio deconstructed salad was beautiful and hit all the right flavor notes. Butternut squash ravioli and tagliatelle with pancetta were each absolutely perfect. Tiramisu was rich but not heavy. The restaurant is in a converted house. Super cute.

Our go to restaurant in Newport when we are looking for great Italian food. Quaint atmosphere in an old house on Thames St. Good vegetarian options for those inclined as well as an excellent selection of wines at all price ranges.

Fantastic family run Italian spot with homemade pasta, delicious wine, and a very intimate atmosphere. Had an incredible meal here with great food and great service. Call early to get a reservation because it is usually very busy.

Food - delicious. Wine - yummy. Wait - less than 20 minutes even without reservations. Staff - very warm and inviting. Atmosphere - casual, some people wore ties, but no one balked at my flip-flops and aloha shirt.

We visit Newport annually in June, and have eaten here every year for the past 5 years. Food is always excellent, price is reasonable for the quality, and the service is great. Definitely save room for dessert!

First time there. We travel a lot and I am somewhat critical. This was excellent in every respect. Spaghetti Neri remarkable. 2 and 1/2 hours; no rush; for me best in Newport by a lot. REL
