The Roma Restaurant in Haverhill is a beautiful restaurant alongside the Merrimack River. It offers an elegant, yet comfortable dining atmosphere. The Roma used to offer the most delicious Italian food, steaks and seafood. Their tomato sauce was amazing. I had not been there for years as I was living in Florida for awhile. Recently, I went to the restaurant expecting a wonderful meal, but was SO disappointed. It is under new ownership. They promote their Prime Rib, so I decided that is what I would have. I ordered it Medium Rare. The beef was so tough and full of grizzle that it was very difficult to cut and almost impossible to chew. It was terrible. I told the waitress who was very pleasant and she took it away and offered to bring us Steak Tips instead, telling us that they are very tender and tasty. So, I agreed. After waiting another 20-30 minutes for the Steak Tips, I was once again, very disappointed. The Steak Tips were very tough again and impossible to chew. They had no flavor at all and the meat was like cheap stew beef pieces. I also had the "Rice Pilaf" which was like white rice that they added some chicken broth to. My girlfriend had a vegetable medley with her meal and the vegetables were barely cooked and hard and had no flavor. The waitress once again was very pleasant and apologetic. To try to please us, she brought over two complimentary grapenut pudding desserts. They were okay, but nothing to rave about. I really have to question what it is they are trying to sell as "beef" and even "steak". I am not exaggerating. It was disgusting as was the rice and the vegetables! People go to restaurants and pay big bucks expecting "High Quality Restaurant Food" and "Chef-Quality Meals". I cannot believe the owners sell that crap food and think it is good. They REALLY need a consultant to help them. They get an 8 for service but a 2 for the food, and I am being nice giving them a 2. Hey, the bread and the salad were good.

This had to be by far the worst dining experience of my life. FIRST I made reservations and when I got there they had no tables available. Had to wait 20 min for a table when there tables just no one cleaning them. The manager needs to just retire.. She looks like shes been there to long not to mention she was a rude rude lady. We finally get our table and she throws the menus on the table and walks away. Our waitress was horrible... she didnt know anything about the drinks I wanted and she was just rude. Now this is the most disturbing part... theres a little galley way I guess you could call it where they get sodas I saw a waitress drop food and put it back on someones plate. They need to be using trays so they arent spilling stuff. The food was horrible... I got the seafood pie and it was old because it tasted so fishy. It was gross. My wife got prime rib she ordered it med rare it came out well when we asked to send it back we got " Im sorry it I only comes med well and up" with an attitude... What???? Why didnt they say that first off all??? So we both let our kids eat there ckn fingers. Cant mess those up or they probably would of. We didnt eat. I dont know how that place is still in business. The owners should be ashamed. It was at least o.k.when our fav waitress was there Arlene. That place has been going down hill for quite a bit. We wont go back ever again!!

NOT A HAPPY PERSON!!! Had a party of 50 there on a Saturday night. Each plate was suppose to come with a meal, side, salad, dessert, coffe and or tea. Many people had cold food. There wa DEF NOT enough salad for 9 people at each table. When asked for more salad I was told there would be an extra cost of $7.95 a bowl. (I had 2 pieces of lettuce & another person did not get any salad at all!) A guest sitting at my table can not eat rice & asked for a veggie, she was told NO. So she ended up paying for just a few pieces of steak. One of the waitress was extremly RUDE to my guests when they asked questions. There were maybe 4 kids under the age of 5. When asked for a kids menu was told they could order off the kids menu but there meal would still be $13.99 plus tax & tip. (kids food was no more than $9). Felt very rushed. At the end of the party waited for about 20 mins before getting a billed when I went to the front desk the women handed it to me. She as well was not very pleasant! I used to LOVE the Roma, but after this I will NEVER go back!

I was there at the convention hall for a group gathering, where I had to pay 24 dollers to buy a ticket. It turns out they were serving Pasta in meat sauce, Meatballs and chicken parm for the dinner. I kindly asked the waitress if there was a substitute dinner because I do not eat meat..she asked what seemed to be the cook, which was really the Owner, and he flipped out on her in front of everyone! He ended up saying no because it was an ordered meal, which I didnt know that. In the end I did get my money back, because I didnt get served a meal. But through out the entire function, I saw the Owner yell at his employees, for needless things and was ignored by him when I went to ask him myself why I couldnt have been accomidated. Also, I was told by the waitress(which was from the Owner), that they had ran out of salad, and the bread they brought to the table was a cut up sub roll. This restaurant would be a lot better with out the Owner and NEW MANAGMENT! I will never go back there.

This restaurant is the worst I have ever been too... The owners should be embarrassed by their staff and the quality of their food and establishment. We rented one of the function rooms for a mercy meal for a recently deceased relative. When we arrived at the restaurant the room we had booked had been changed without notice into the loudest area of the restaurant so no one could hear the speeches being made. When the food was served it was delivered to the wrong people (at every table) and the food served to me personally was obviously left overs not finished by another patron. The knife still had meat and sauce on it from the last patron. When I complained the waitress made a scene and argued back instead of just removing the dirty plate. There was no (or very weak) air conditioning in the room. When we asked to make it cooler, we were told that because of the size of our party the room could not get any cooler.

My husband and I went to Roma for dinner after purchasing a group-on. We ordered Filet and Prime Rib medium rare. His came out raw, which they corrected. My order came out well done. I was told they could not give me medium rare so I would have to order something else. This would have been fine if I knew it before I had my appetizer. Finding it out as my husband has already started his meal was ridiculous. Since I had a group-on I was given a choice to order something or pay for the meal and use the group-on later. I had already ordered a drink to go with the meal I was not going to get so I just ordered take out for the dog. $45.00 for this evening out was the biggest rip off ever. To add insult to injury they charged me tax on the Prime Rib that I never got.
