We went there for dinner on a Friday night. We were greeted at the door and were told we could pick our own table. At the front half of the restaurant there were about four tables occupied - there were a lot of empty tables, but we opted for a table in the back half because all the available tables towards the front were for bigger parties. There were two other groups of people seated with us towards the back. One party of three were eating - the other party of about six or seven were looking at menus. About 10 minutes later my husband got up and looked for menus, as no one had come to check on us. He ended up having to get menus from a lady waiting for her to go order (another customer). A few minutes after we fetched our own menus, someone came to give the table next to us water, but never even looked in our direction. He didnt bring enough glasses for that table, and he came back with two more glasses - but still didnt say a word to us. We waited a bit longer, and a lady finally went to that table and started taking their orders. After she was done - she didnt even look towards us, thats when we left. We were there at least 20 minutes. Well never go back.

If you like Sushi, this is the place to eat in Newport... Id argue most of New England too. I had Sushi in Manhattan, New York and Boston, and those major cities didnt even come close to the quality of this sushi. Ive lived in Japan for a few years and this is one of a few state-side sushi restaurants that compares to Japan. The fish is cut fresh every day and you can taste the freshness. They also give very generous slices of fish too. In fact, I almost gave it 4-stars because the sushi slices are too big. Sea Shai Restaurant also serve Korean food and what Ive had so far follows the same freshness as the sushi. I go for the sushi, so I cant comment too much on the Korean dishes.

I am 64 years old and been to many restaurants but this was the worst experience I have ever had. On July 12, 2012 I had three people in our my party. The service was extremely slow. It took about 45 minutes to be served and then only one received their food, 20 minutes later the rest of my party received their food. I asked the server for no soy sauce on my dish and it arrived loaded with soy sauce. The food was absolutely the worst I have ever had. I have never written a review before about a restaurant but need to get the word out to all to skip this restaurant. It may be under new management but they need to close down and start over.

The people who run this restaurant take great pride in their service, preparation, the quality of the ingredients, the freshness of the seafood besides being amazing people who love to laugh and tell great stories - and listen to yours! The place is wonderfully decorated and gives a sense of serene refinement. I ordered Hae du bap which is not on the menu, but it is a Korean dish they know well. They did not hesitate to prepare it and it was the best I have ever had. The prices are reasonably and you will not be disappointed.

The food was fabulous, under new ownership. The service was excellent, everyone was kind. The chef came and visited the table to make sure we liked what we had and to make a few suggestions. I would definitely go again very soon with a few more friends. It is too bad I forgot what we ordered but all three of us loved everything. The waitress was efficient and helpful and friendly.

This was the best Korean restaurant I have ever eaten at. The wait staff was very attentive. The food was great. I loved that they brought us complimentary miso soup and three different condiment bowls which were refilled without asking before the entrees were delivered. If you want the real deal, go to New Sea Shai Restaurant, best Asian restaurant in the area.

Hidden Gem... the new management is fabulous. I am a local and without a doubt new sea shai is the best place in town. Biggest difference is the quality of fish. Service is quick and always friendly. If you like sushi this is your only option besides going to boston or new york. Awesome awesome awesome

food had no taste, bland, not like it use to be. should have realized that, when we were the only customers. Bar was not stocked seemed that they were out of the three most popular liquors.
