We used to come to this place very often. The food is great - probably the best I`ve ever tried. However, in a past six months they started going down the road. Service is getting poor, glasses are dirty, and overall atmosphere is not welcoming. Last time we were there our waitress were sitting next to our table and were eating her own dinner while we`ve been waiting for our appetizers. When you come to this place - first thing they do is give you a pot of jasmine tea and a couple snacks to fill in a waiting time, however, this unlucky time our waitress forgot about snacks and brought us a pot of warm water instead of tea - maybe a bad luck, but we were very upset. Not sure if we will come back - but again - food can do miracles - and their food is very delicious. It is very sad to see how a nice place start slowly turns into something very unattractive.

New incarnation of a location that has held many different restaurants over the last 20 years, Jean & Lee Kitchen is owned and run by a family that emigrated from Taiwan. It therefore focuses more on Taiwanese cuisine than the Cantonese/Mandarin/Sichuanese/Hunanese mainland cuisines more often the focus of Chinese restaurants in the US. Jean & Lee Kitchen could use some improvements, among them: 1. dimmers (the dining room is so overlit I threatened to wear sunglasses if we go back again), 2. some adornment on the walls (between the lighting level and the bare walls, the place has a very sterile feel to it), and 3. better food presentation. There are times when one wants decent food quickly and at a decent price. Jean & Lee can probably come through with that, but with my current feelings about the dining room, Id rather get it for take out.

Really enjoy dining here. The food is delicious, well priced, and definitely worth the adventure out to Newton. The atmosphere is very family style and relaxed, casual with long tables and some smaller ones for dates. We had a group of four and tried a few dishes. Scallion pancakes to start were not crunchy but awesomely fermented and delicious. Seafood rice cake was awesome, I really enjoyed this meal. The rice cakes were perfectly cooked and the flavor really delicate and fresh. Pork soup dumplings were good, light on the broth but good in flavor and I liked the dumpling skin, very thin wrapper and smooth. We also had the seasonal steamed veggie which made a great veggie compliment to the meal! Overall would recommend Jean and Lees for a casual dinner with friends or family any night of the week!

Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. The restaurant that was in the location before was terrible. New owners and chef. Amazing. Crab Rangoon is flavorful (not just cream cheese and crab), shredded pig ears taste like seaweed salad... Very good. Steamed soup dumpling. Wow. Omg, and the salt n pepper fried chicken... Out of this world---fried and tossed with a spicy mix of herbs and wonton noodles. Homemade udon noodles. We tried the noodles with beef, watercress and sha cha sauce. Great flavor. I would recommend everything. A total gem.

First, the parking is terrible! Very small parking lot and very crowded. Street parking didnt seem to be an option. Second, the host was slow. I waited for 10 min at the door and didnt see anyone to greet me. The service was slow. The waitress attended to me 10 min after I sat down. And I waited 30 min for my order, which was 3 dishes. The food was ok, acceptable. Will find a not so busy time to go back later, but Im certainly not a big fan about it.

Yum! A hike out of the city, which makes the lines short. Good flavors. Ive only been here during weekend dim sum times, and you get a good selection of Taiwanese style small plates - soy milk, scallion pancake, etc. Their spicy fish stew (water cook fish) is to die for. Prices are very reasonable too!

I asked for a dish and the waiter told me that the dish was "just for chinese people", when I asked what exactly was in it that I wouldnt like, she couldnt tell me. Then, she rushed me to find something else I wanted. Other than that the food was okay, and I had a good time with my friends.

Everything is tasty and fresh. Theres some authentic and Americanized dishes. For a taste of home, I get the tomato and egg with white rice. Overall, the restaurant is very bright and clean. Service is always super cheerful

Good authentic Taiwanese dishes. Parking can be tight so arrive early. Recently renovated but the dining area is lit a bit too brightly. Staff is friendly but English is a bit of a challenge.

This place is the best Chinese food in the Boston area. Great variety and every dish is well prepared. We love the peapod dish which while simple is cooked perfectly and tastes wonderful

Excellent food. Probably helps to be able to read / speak Chinese. Lol at people saying that its "authentic" (which is good) but also noisy (too authentic for you?).
