I went here with friends for lunch because we wanted to try somewhere new and saw the menu on line. It looked good, worth trying. Upon ordering, though, we were disappointed to find that the only vegetarian options on the menu were salad. When I asked about what we saw online, we were told that the menu had changed (drastically) from what was online and they couldnt do anything from the one we were referencing. At least there was salad, which is nice and all, but there is a WORLD of food out there that does not contain meat, and also, there are tons of farms locally who sell large varieties of fresh produce for comparable prices to big wholesalers. It just takes a little imagination and skill. Luckily, though, it was still brunch, and there were omelets and french toast on that menu. All of our food was good, but nothing spectacular or really worth mentioning. I did have a salad and an order of french toast, and the arugula was out of a bag, not at all fresh. The salad was ok too, but nothing awesome. The french toast was plain-central. Twice our plates were taken while there was still food on them (we werent asked if we were finished). The service was friendly but not very professional. The decor leaves a lot to be desired, with tons of art on the wall that has nothing to do with anything, and tons of fluorescent bulbs, which gives the pretty old space a cold vibe. I wonder who is behind this place, it could be so good - or just better - but just needs a few tweaks.

We had a rehearsal dinner here for my sons wedding. We had about 55 people. Kristen did a fantastic job communicating with us as we were from out of town. When we arrived, the owner was extremely accommodating to our requests and needs for making everything just right. The food was great, served on time, and kept hot. The little extras like a welcome sign with a quote about love out front is an example of their extra mile service. The servers were all so cordial and helpful to us and our guests. They made us proud because these guests were people we loved dearly and The Front Porch took care of everyone like we wouldve at our home if we could have had everyone there. The venue and atmosphere was beautiful, and it felt very cozy and "at Home." which is what we wanted for such an event with so many dear friends. It would have been just as appropriate for a business luncheon though where the goal was a comfortable, professional casual feel. Its a wonderful remodeled home. On top of all this, the price was right and they worked with our budget. I highly recommend The Front Porch for your event. You wont be disappointed.

This is my favotite new place to meet friends for a quick casual meal, or enjoy a longer dinner with family/ friends. The food is always exactly as anticipated, and Im never disappointed. Always fresh. Its also affordable, and for that Im really grateful! Front Porch is genuine, it dosnt feel stuffy or fake and contrived like other nearby "upscale" cafe. Fresh and crisp salads; and staff are helpful if you have question about menu. Also, I DONT feel like we are crammed into a cluttered dining room w/ tiny little tables (like a sardine). There is plenty of elbow room between tables, and the different dining areas are all equally elegant, no pretentious buffoons guarding the front door, and we feel very welcome when we enter. Coffee is fresh, never bitter (like the attitude of lady at other nearby Cafe that has the word blue in its name). The BYOB removes the pressured to order overpriced wine/cocktails. You wont be bullied or shamed here to "up order". We Always leave cheerful. If you order desert, be prepared to share because everyone will want a bite. Thank you Front Porch Cafe for the years of good food and service!

Although the food was okay, the service was slowly pathetic. This is my first time for dinner, but the times I have had lunch, service is the same. The worst part tonight is that they were ill prepared for Restaurant week and ran out of 1 of 4 desserts offered, the creme brulee. When you pay for prix fix, you expect items to be available. The complaints from staff about being so busy all day, great! because now you are here to serve me and I am paying the same for your tired attitude. Also, when making reservation, or on website, or in anything published for Restaurant Week, never was there a mention of limited menu. So every patron was an automatic fee, regardless if children or light eaters were present. The dirty dishes left surrounding the dining room also was not appetizing. For the money comparison, The Left Bank is the only place to go. Atmosphere? No excitement there either. Other patrons are all mumbling the same about service.....

The staff did their best, they really did. But when you spend $32 on a rib eye steak (medium) it should not arrive cold. And "perfectly grilled asparagus" should not be raw on the inside. I do compliment the salad, however. The wait staff tried hard, but they could not make up for the kitchen. Our entire table had cold steaks. The party next to us also had to return their plates to be heated. Finally, the creme brulee arrived in the smallest demitasse cup I have seen. This restaurant is in a lovely building, but the food was overpriced, served cold, and the serving sizes left a lot to be desired. We will not be returning. The saddest part about this review as that one member of our party is a SERTOMA officer, and was considering having a meeting there. After this dinner, he will not be doing so.

Was going to try today but noticed my gift certificate recently expired at the beginning of the month so I called to see if they would honor it. It was for $50. Unfortunately talked to one guy and asked and he wasnt sure so I asked to speak to a manager. He handed the phone to someone without even telling them what I was inquiring about. The answer was No. My fault it expires but a lot of businesses would make an exception as if was still very close. Guess I will try somewhere else today. Thanks anyway. I would recommend a bit more friendly customer service though. I wasnt rude when asking but was made to feel like I inconvenienced them by asking.

This is beautiful house which has served many functions over the years. Now its serving us in the form of a cafe with plenty of atmosphere. Every dish we tried has been excellent. Stand outs so far have been the french toast, beef brisket sandwich and filet mignon. You definitely get what you pay for in quality. The service is usually on the slow side, but the entire staff is very friendly. As long as you go to eat here knowing that you wont have any issues. When we have an afternoon or evening free, this is usually where we go.

It has a modern day feel with a lot of York history. Light and air with attractive Art on display, and ever changing menu with will be sure to appeal to everyone. I have been to the Front Porch Cafe twice now and very very pleased not only with the selection of food, as I am sometimes picky about what I eat, but also the wonderful staff. On a side note, if you have a taste for tomato bisque, this is thee best I have ever had. Ever.
