Listen up. They might not take cash, they might take a long time to answer the phone, they might not always get your order right. But let me tell you something - this is the best damn cheese steak place in Berks County. My family eats at V&S every Sunday night since I can remember - it was a staple of my childhood. I live in Philadelphia and I would leave the cheese steak capital of the world just to come home to one of these sandwiches. And just so all of you haters out there know; they only take cash because it keeps their costs low and they dont have to charge us an arm and a leg for a meal, they dont answer the phones because theyre always busy as hell because everyone loves their sandwiches! and yeah, Ill admit theyve gotten my order wrong but theyve got a lot going on back there! And when you go back and tell them its wrong they make you another steak right on the spot, they correct their mistake immediately. This is a great place and a great bunch of people and I for one stand behind them 100% and I always will.

Id give this place no stars if I had the choice ( the one in Shillington off of Lancaster Ave.)! Im sick and tired of going there and getting refried French fries when I pay good money for fresh ones. Just got an order today, said I wanted FRESH French fries, not REHEATED OR REFRIED, got home and my fries are dark brown transparent in color, no potato inside and they are as hard as a rock. This is ALL the time. Waste of money, waste of gas....waste of time. I even have pictures to post!!!! Dont go there unless you want recooked food when youre paying for FRESH food. They always say bring them back, yet thats more gas I waste and they never fix the mistake...this place is disgusting for refrying food 3-4 times over. DO NOT EAT THERE!!!! Many people will tell you about their fries. They are ripping us off people. Save your money cause Im sure its not just the fries

Ive been a customer of this location since 1975. Passing through yesterday I ordered a cheesesteak. V&S steak sandwiches were always the best. They gave me a pizza steak and it was absolutely disgusting. When I called the girl told me they always use pizza sauce. Not true. You could buy the steak sandwich sauce and it was NOT pizza sauce. Way to cut cut corners Sam and ruin a good product. The nonchalant attitude of the young girl on the phone coupled with selling me something I did not order just cost you a loyal customer. 3 sandwiches and 2 fries: $22.79. A small price to pay for the greed of another.

It breaks my heart to say that this establishments owners just dont care. I ordered two cheese steak specials and fries, and they came out cold, and it flat out tasted disgusting. The place just looks run down, along the window seats the table seems to be falling apart along w the walls being dirty, floors and tables are never clean, the food is,waaaayyyyy overpriced for what they are serving, I remember coming to this place after delivering newspapers after school, and couldnt wait to get my hands on a sandwich, now its just meh. Please steer clear of this place screpesis is down the street.

We live in Southern Maryland in Charles County MD and my late fathers family and my father live in Reading PA. He has always taken us to V&S Sandwich Shop for the best steak and cold cut sandwiches ever!!!! We drive at least 2-3 hour drive to get our favorite sandwiches from PA:) And my father passed away in August and were continuing our tradition on 4th of July weekend 2016 and will continue to go to V&S as long as they stay open and/or til the world ends!!!!! Met my brother at V&S. He was visiting from South Carolina and said he wanted a really good cheese steak and had not had one from V&S in a long time. We each had a cheese steak on a soft roll, mine with mushrooms. They are as delicious as ever and I had to accompany mine with a small bag of Goods potato chips (the best chips with the best sandwich). Brother Bill commented that V&S still makes them with real cheese compared to Philly cheese steaks in the City of Brotherly Love that seem to come with some kind of cheese wiz these days. Should be on your "must eat there" list.

What a disaster this place has turned out to be. Seven kids working a Sunday night and 7 customers waiting for their orders. 3 of the seven called them in. I waited 15 minutes just to be asked my name. 3 of the seven kids walked around like prema-donnas. When my order was repeated back to me it was, of course, wrong. The men who built that business are surely rolling over in their graves. Fortunately Screpesis is a mile down the road and they have a new place open in Knauers.

I been coming here since I was born, I was born in 76.... Since then new workers are in an out... The thing about that is the way they cook is different every 2 years it changes..... I rememberz those curly fries the best..., but what the problem is now is every time Im there the tables we eat at are always sticky, an never wiped down until they close it seems... Now thats real "NASTY"...... They became a good place to order out too, but definitely not a good place too eat at....

We go to the shop in Shillington often. Usually just get a couple Italians and a couple fries. Their fries are a thicker, better quality version of McDonalds... I swear they put crack in the fryer! It is so delicious. if you make any alterations or special requests, watch out who is making your sandwich. The younger people trend to screw them up somehow. Never have a problem when the older people make it. Will continue to go there despite the risk.

worst cheesesteak I have ever had!!!! Soggy bread, raw meat, sauce all over outside of bun. Asked for mayo and hot peppers got neither of them. These people take no pride in the food they sell. I will never buy from them again. I suggest no one else buy from them either. Your cooks suck! I had no choice but to give a star but I really dont want to give any stars. I would give negative stars if I could. Learn how to cook losers

My husband always told me I had never had a cheese steak until I had a V & S. He was soooo right! They are the best! Love the peppers, the sauce, the hard roll-that softens once the meat is piled on. just awesome. I only get them a couple times a year as we travel from Indiana. But we like it so much we usually eat there while visiting PA and then take some home. Its just the best!

The staff hates the idea of making you a meal, and lets you know it. Food overpriced, but good. Prepare for a long wait for someone to feel like answering the phone for a call in order. 2011 and still cash only, they dont care about your experience at all. Although the food was better, Its still pretty good, NOTHING else redeeming.
