Disappointed for multiple reasons. Food was not authentic Indian at all and had a lot of artificial food color added. Besides the lack of variety and quality of food, customer service is a myth in this restaurant. And is was our bad luck that the restaurateur was there that day. Here are few snippets on what happened on my first visit:- Scene 1:- Me - We are 3 of us, I think we will sit here (the center table). Restaurateur - If you sit here you gotta pay for 6 as it has 6 chairs (LOL). You should sit there. Me - But there are 4 chairs there. Does that mean we have to pay for 4? Restaurateur - Ill remove one chair so that you dont have to pay for the 4th (And he actually did so, ridiculous) Scene 2:- Me - Can I get a spoon. Restaurateur - All the spoons are there in the counter buddy (And waled away) Scene 3:- Me - (I took the plate with me for a second serving unmindfully, students you see :-P) Restaurateur - You dont follow buffet etiquette, do you? You need to take fresh plates if you are taking food. (This was too much) Me - Sorry, I have not been to buffets where I do not enjoy. This my first time. And then, the bill was thrown at us much before we were even done eating. Except for the helpful waiters, nothing is worth the $11 heavy price.

I love Coriander so much! Victor is wonderful, kind, and friendly. The waitresses are great as well and they always smile. :-) The buffet has a great selection and the entrees are always hot and delicious. For beverages, the Mango Lassi is a go-to. I absolutely love the Chicken Soup. Ive never had soup like this anywhere, and I love the lemon in it. The vegetable samosas and pakoras are delicious when dipped in tamarind chutney! The tandoori chicken is mouth-watering, tender, and falls right off the bone. Naan is an essential. My favorites include Butter naan, Garlic naan, and Aloo naan. I have a lot of vegetarian favorites: Chana Masala, Navratna Korma, Matar Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Daal Taadka. My favorite chicken dishes are: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, Chicken Makhni/butter chicken, Chicken Saag, and Chicken Curry. Its always of the perfect spice level. Its nice to end the meal with a dessert of gulab jamun and/or rice pudding. One really unique aspect of Coriander is their 50% off hours! Its amazing! From 4-6pm and 9-10pm, they have a list of select dishes that are half-price! Also, Coriander is available for pick-up or delivery orders. I recommend this as your next meal: Chicken Soup, Daal Taadka, Chicken Saag, Aloon Naan!

We went for dinner & the table was not ready on which we were seated. A waitress was paying attention in the front part, didnt had a clue that we were not given any napkins, spoons, salt/pepper until we asked (after our appetizers were served - we started eating without spoons). She wasnt even looking at our table, where we could have politely made a gesture to ask spoons. I picked up salt/pepper from other table. How can they be so negligent? Food was just ok, nothing really special. If your attention is towards the lack of service, then you wont enjoy the food....simple!!!. Then we started asking 2-3 things at the same (who knew, if she would return or not), that we wanted to order, but guess what.....she would definitely forget 1 out of 3 things. Zero professionalism. Both waitresses chatting/gossiping near the bar (no one to refill water in our glasses), chef singing in the kitchen - Absolutely pathetic ambiance for dinner. Adjacent table had someones homework open--like a study table(I guess one of them was a student). Even then, I left a 15% tip :-(

If youre an Indian this review should be helpful. Americans, Ive learned, love the food here. Here goes... Greet - The moment you enter the place you get a slow and lethargic vibe. The host welcomes you with a very dull face. Her expression and body language seem to be saying "Oh god, another walked in? I will have to make more food?" Food - The food lacks variety. I had been here last year and I saw more or less the same variety I see now. The food does not taste authentic and her expressions take away whatever taste is left. Customer service - They ran out of bread and I asked for more bread to the host. I was expecting her to inform me when the new batch got made. She didnt. The table has just the fork. The spoon was nowhere to be found. Neither on the dining table, nor at the buffet. How do you expect to eat a curry vegetable with a fork? Billing - While billing, I asked her "Are you not happy working here?". That was my favorite part. I think she got the idea what I was asking.

I understand this place is family owned and I respect that but a little happiness and smile to your customers goes along way. These people are so rude. I go in there to get to go food all the time because the food is good but one thing I hate is bad service and stingy people. I went in to get a Buffett to go and the lady gives me a container so small I could only put rice and one item in it. I spoke with the owner and he said if you buy a dish its 10.99 so this is the same thing. I was like its a buffet so you get variety. Not a 12 oz plate that you can only fit one item in. He said if I have a problem with it then he will charge 8 bucks a pound. Normal restaurants have a standard styrofoam enclose plate with 4 sections. I wanted the tomatoes and yogurt on the side Because there wasnt any room in the little plate and he said no. These people are so cheap. Needless to say I wont be going back there.

Coriander is an Indian restaurant located in Squirrel Hill. My visit on January,9th 2014 to this restaurant really upset me, especially restaurant service and conditions. A thread not related to food was found inside the dish. The cook dressed very untidy couldnt explain the origin of the thread inside the food. For safety purposes I rejected eating this dish. The manager rejected to replace the dish and remove the dish from the bill, besides that he was extremely rude. Also, there were unsanitary conditions in the restroom, no paper towels or a dryer. The light bulb in the table lamp kept flashing, the waiter rejected to do anything about it. The problems were not solved, instead the manager asked us to leave in a very disrespectful manner.

I was just at this restaurant 20 minutes ago and I am still trembling with anger. The waitress got my order WRONG and brought me more expensive food, but I, who is relatively new to Indian cuisine, had no idea what the difference is. I got the receipt back and found out that I was being charged more for food I didnt order. I talk to the waitress and she told literally me "but you already ate the food" WTF... and attempted to justify her error. Eventually I got to talk to the owner who proceeded to argue with me. One of the worst restaurant experience I have ever endured! In the future I will be actively discouraging everybody that I know from going to this restaurant and I will have a solid story to go along with it.

Run of the mill buffet, but... Beware: 1. The salad and cold options are half that of any self-respecting competitive restaurant 2. The service is the WORST in the city. They will not accommodate any need you have. Napkins are hard to come by. The manager strolls around the restaurant constantly and stares at the patrons. Management and staff are very abrupt. Attention to your needs, even such as water, are meager at best. 3. Decor is cheap, lights flickering on and off as you are trying to eat, etc. 4. The price is at the high end of the spectrum across the city. The resulting value is NOT worth returning.
