This is a wonderful French restaurant in a very beautiful setting. When we recently visited, everything – I mean everything - was just perfect. From the moment we arrived in their elegant venue, we felt comfortable – as if visiting a French estate of a dear friend. The server was helpful and informative and helped convey a sense of welcome. First to arrive at our table was the complimentary bread basket: Olive Loaf, Baguette, and Parmesan Crisps – all delicious. Then the Citadelle Gin Martinis were “French” perfection. The Kale Salad and Venison Pate were both large portions, prepared exquisitely. The Arctic Char was also a large serving that was delicate, moist, and delicious. Yet, it was the Quenelle that stole the show. This was culinary mastery -- impeccably prepared, beautifully presented, and a wonderfully, delightfully delicious treat. At that point, although dessert sounded great – we couldn’t possibly eat more. With such generous portions, we were quite full – or so we thought. Because to our surprise we did manage to eat a bit more! It was a surprise complimentary Maison dessert: A lovely Praline Marshmallow – a light cloud of deliciousness - and a coconut macaroon that simply melted in your mouth. Also, given the potions, the pricing is comparatively reasonable. For example an entrée here at say $30 would easily cost $40 or more in NYC or Chicago. So do go to Le Cheri – perhaps you will see us there, because we are sure to visit again and again. Bon Appetit!

Le Cheri is located in the Art Alliance Building aka., the Wetherill mansion, just off Rittenhouse Square. It is a beautiful building, listed on the National Historic Register, with lovely dining spaces both indoors and out. I have dined there three times, each time in a different space, since Pierre and Charlotte Camels developed Le Cheri about three years ago. Pierre and Charlotte are friends of George Perrier, chef/owner of the now defunct Le Bec Fin. He is often in the restaurant to dine (so I am told) and some of his recipes occasionally appear on Le Cheris, often changing, menu. In addition to the food quality, the service is, likewise, impeccable. Based on my past visits to Le Cheri, my expectations were indeed very high. On this occasion, I dined outside in a three sided courtyard that looks out onto a quiet side street, just off Rittenhouse Square. I dined on a quail country pâté that was artfully accompanied by an apricot jam, large seeded mustard, cornichon, pickled cauliflower nibbles (colored purple from the pickling) pickled carrots and greens. For my "plat" I dined on a ravioli with fresh pea filling. The pasta was "melt in your mouth" delicious as was the filling. The pasta was served in a sumptuous broth with black trumpet mushrooms and truffle butter. My bread was well used to enjoy every last bit of broth! (And I was certainly tempted to lick my plate!) I finished my meal with an espresso macchiato and a tiny coconut macaroon, given to those not ordering dessert.

The restaurant takes over the first floor of the Art Alliance. Be sure to check out the octopus chandelier in the foyer & the painted walls in the main dining room. Interestingly the maître d table is located at the end of the entrance hall, not before the private dining rooms which flank the entry hall. The food was excellent. The menu is seasonal. I chose my first course from it & my main & dessert were nightly specials. Bizarrely for such well proportioned specials, I was still well stuffed afterwards. Everyone else in my party chose mostly from the menu & were enchanted with their orders. My main course, stuffed quail was delicious & the beignets coated in brown butter with pecans was to die for. With all parties & 2-3 cocktails per person the cost was about $100/pp including tax. I think the bread between courses may have been the culprit for feeling stuffed. The service was very good though had a delay post the main course & dessert.

Food. Delicious. Service: SLOW. We had cold dishes. salads etc. took an hour and a half to have whole brunch. 45mins after ordering before our first dish came out. We ordered three cheeses at end of meal. That took 20mins. Also. Portion sizes small and expensive for what you get. $30 for Niçoise salad with 2oz of tuna? That was the dinner portion version of the salad. Youve been warned. Note: we complained about the slow service and the management compd 1/3 of the bill. The total bill (no booze) was $130. Not cheap. The comp was nice but we wont be back because of the price compared to what you get.

What a beautiful space! Expect the same fantastic quality of food as Bibou. Try their cocktails, all made from French alcohol. Simply a great experience. Appetizers: raw oysters from Washington state, escargot, blood sausage, and steak tartare. Entrees: Short Ribs Bourguinon, Arctic Char, Striped Bass, and Duck confit and sausage. Dessert: ginger creme brulee, macaroons paired with super soft handmade marshmallows, maple caramel ice cream.

We just returned from a trip to Frances Loire Valley where a local winemaker told us about Le Cheri, a "gem" he know of in Philly. A day after returning home, we made our way to Le Cheri for what was an extremely authentic French experience, both in the delicious food (the mahi mahi was exceptional), wine offerings and atmosphere. The back garden is one of Phillys best kept secrets. Love this place and will be sure to return many times to come!

Along with La Croix , Le Cheri are the best restaurants in the city. As a old Le Bec Fin patron I can still get my excellent Crab Galette!!!!! I can get a lot of my old favorites from Le Bec Fin at Le Cheri. They only place I can get a Quinelle. This is a must visit place! This chef loves the food here.

I went to a private event here and was blown away. The menu was fixed, but I was surprised to see a (very french) rabbit dish on it, which was phenomenal. The staff were very welcoming, and the restaurant itself was very pleasant atmospherically, with a sort of old Victorian feel.

Wonderful dining experience. This was a special date for my friend and I, and they did not disappoint. Great service. The quail was delicious, but the fig bread pudding stole the show!!! I cant get it out of my head now.
