The ribs were alright but not great, and yet managed to be the sole semi-redeeming thing about this visit. The french onion soup was a soggy oily mess; I get how tough it can be to nail this dish, but a common strategy restarateurs tend to employ when they cant pull something off is to not offer that thing on their menu. Id recommended that this place either consider that tactic, or figure out a better recipe. The salad was absolutely awful. Yup, thats right. The simple side salad that is so hard to get wrong was patently awful, and the house Italian dressing, by the way, is not in reality what I think a reasonable human being would expect to recieve when ordering it. Not a fan of the beer choices either-- flat, tasteless, not great. Service was fawning to the point of feeling patronizing, yet not frequent enough to be of actual help. In my experience, visiting a restaurant which is one of a very few dining options in an area can be either a special treat and wonderful experience, or something so disappointing its regrettable. This is undeniably the latter.

Chain establishment serving pub food in an old house that used to be a different restaurant. The restaurant is recommended by the local hotels as the best in the Lehighton / Jim Thorpe area. And that is no doubt true when you look at the other choices in the area: they are all sketchy. The area presents itself as economically distressed and not as modern as other PA tourist regions such as Lancaster or Hershey. Taking that into account, manage your expectations accordingly. The food was fine. We ordered two pasta dishes and two burgers. Pasta was fine. Both burgers were over cooked but tasty enough. No legitimate complaint about the food. Service was prompt and cordial. The facility is an old house filled with Bennigans- like memorabilia. Tired looking and dimly lit but nice compared to other establishments we saw during our trip. If you are staying in the area there are few options, so try it out. The food is fine. I would not drive out of my way to visit.

This place is a very popular destination, probably due to being in the vicinity of Beltzville Lake. Wait times are usually not bad. The atmosphere is good, but the food is mediocre. I was hoping when it was re-branded as PJ Whelihans the food would improve, but it was basically a fancy name, new menus, and some signage. Portions are rather small and the food is just un-noteworthy. For example, you would expect "PJs Famous Fries" to be something to write home about. Theyre frozen crinkle fries like you would buy at the supermarket with the lightest sprinkling of Old Bay (not even coated or cooked into the fries), and a dixie cup of melted cheese on the side. But despite the food, PJ Whelihans continues to pack the house every night and will probably continue to for years to come.

Description: Prime Rib thinly sliced and served on a kaiser roll. Received: Lunch meat roast beef thrown in the microwave, all dry and wrinkled up, processed provolone, served on a way too soft roll, nothing near a kaiser, broke apart as soon as I picked it up. Even asked waitress if it was real prime rib, she said yes. No auju when asked for it, but think brown gravy. No real horseradish, only sauce. Entire sandwich completely FLAVORLESS. Took one bite and sent it back and orderded a cup of soup. When the bill came, the sandwich was on the bill. Will not go here again. Stick to the wings if you go, didnt see them, but they smelled normal.

For Valentines day, we went to Platzs. My boyfriend has eaten there before and raved about the food. The atmosphere was very rustic, comfortable and cozy. Our food was absolutely delicious. I had the prime rib w/ the crab cake special. "Perfect Marriage" And a "Flirtini" which was delicious. And he had the lobster tail special "First Date" on your Valentines Day menu. Service was great, the food came out in a very timely manner as well. Definitely looking forward to going back!!!! Only complaint is there could have been maybe little candles on the tables to make it a little romantic for the holiday. Otherwise, everything was awesome!!!!

After a long day of running our kids around Knoebels we stopped here with all of our kids and it was phenomenal! Our server, Savannah, was beyond phenomenal! Our kids were a little impatient for their food and she went out of her way to ensure that they were happy! She brought bread to the table for them and even drew a flower with crayons for our littlest one! Food was well prepared and delicious! We decided we will be back before we head back to Ohio! If you eat here make sure you ask Savannah to be your server! Great customer service + great food! Not enough stars to rate PJs!

While returning home from our beach vacation the toll guy recommended this restaurant. We agreed that the food was good and the outdoor ambiance was excellent. The inside was dark being a bar and not appropriate for our family with 4 small children. Our service, was the least impressive from our experience. We had the usual questions when its your first visit and expected service requests with a family of our size. At times it felt as though we were bothering her and she was not as attentive as we would have hoped having spent close to $100.00 on this inexpensive eatery.

My god what are the negative people talking about! This place is great, they have a nice deck, live entertainment. Every time I have eaten here my food was delicious, even when it was Platzs. P.J. Whelihans in my opinion has made it even better. A group of 8 demanding men ate there on Saturday 28, 2013 and we all enjoyed our meals, there was a variety of meals ordered at our table. The place was packed. The menu choices were abundant and fairly priced. I for one will continue to go to this restaurant.

Used to be my favorite restaurant, untill they took on the pj menu .. I still go every once in a while and sadly reminded on how much I miss the platz menu.. there is a handful of places to get better wings and beer between my house and here... Id rather have the good food back on the menu and not be told its not available tonight.. no doubt its probably a great turnpike pitstop... But if you havent been here before the change .. Im sure you wont be let down.

Im a frequent flyer with some of the original locations and this one is great! Food quality was the same, and the building and decor are awesome. We went there with a group of 8 for a bachelor party and had a blast (we were camping in the area for the bachelor festivities). The waitress was very attentive and made sure we always had drinks and food, even though we were there until closing. She made it her priority to make we all had a good time.

The kitchen workers all live in the big house across the street. We used to eat here until we saw one of the workers come out of the house with his white plastic kitchen gloves already on. They come out of the house prior to lunchtime and make there way back across to the big house late at night. It makes us wonder if they are "legal" immigrants or Illegal Aliens. They are packed on the weekends but we will never eat there again.
