My girl friend and I went to eat here a few weeks ago for Sunday lunch. The decor was nice, not cheesy. The restaurant is small, but intimate. We were there about 12pm and it was not crowded at all. There were about 4 tables seated including us. We ordered to main dishes. Pad See Ew with chicken, and Penang Curry with Chicken. The Pad See Ew noodle dish definitely needed more flavor; it was underseasoned. The noodles were cooked well. We were suprised to find American broccoli in this dish for a restaurant that so many have said was "authentic". Also, for the price, we thought the portion was ok. We have been to other Thai restaurants that served bigger, tastier portions. If this dish tasted better, I think the portion would not be enough. I rate this dish as a C at best. I love Penang curry w/chicken. It is one of my favorite dishes to eat at Thai restaurants and will try this as my first dish at any new Thai restaurant I visit. I use it as a gauge on whether its worth returning for a second visit. This dish was seasoned well. The vegetables were freshed and cooked well (not overcooked like some places). The chicken was tender, moist and very tasty. The sauce was a little thicker than I prefer. The portion was smaller than most other Thai restaurants I have visited serving better quality food at similar prices. Overall, based on these 2 dishes, I would rate this restaurant as average. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on all the positive reviews. Ive personally have tried better tasting Thai food local to the tri-state area at comparable prices. Service was good; the waitress/hostess was friendly and was prompt at taking our orders and checking on us during our meal. I think the portions are on the small side. For two people, it definitely wouldnt be too much food to order two main dishes and share an appetizer and/or soup, or order/share three main dishes.

We found Saen Thai about five years ago. Its our Friday night ritual when we go to our cabin in the Poconos because it is on our way. Boon and his wife, Saen, own and operate the restaurant. Saen cooks in the back of the house while Boon interacts with the customers and waits on tables. Our absolute favorites are Boons Chicken (chicken wrapped in pandan leaves that are not edible), Tom Kha Kai soup, Pahd Se Ew, and Mus Sa Mon Curry. Boons Chicken, the Tom Kha Kai soup, and Pahd Se Eew have no hot spice added to them, but you can request hot spices to make it as spicy hot as you like. Were working our way through the menu and have 10 more menu items to go. We try a different new (to us) menu item each time we visit the restaurant. Saen Thai has a wine list, Thai beer, and cocktails available. The restaurant is not very large. Depending on what day and time you visit, you may have to wait for a table. Be sure to write your name on the wait list. The service is impeccable. In our opinion, none of the Thai restaurants we visit compare to Saen Thai.

I dont know if this is as good as it gets but it seems not only very authentic but quite tasty as well. Ive been to the place several times and have gotten takeout from them several times and there have never been an issue that I can recall (other than not checking in on Yelp). The restaurant doesnt take reservations because 1 the dining room is fairly small but also because the number of people wanting to get in is quite large and there is usually a line of people wanting to partake in the Thai cuisine in this place. The food is prepared to your specification of spiciness it could be mild or really spicy but if you do order it spicy make sure that youre ready for that because it as one of my friends puts it "will put the hair on your chest". The restaurant is family owned and the owner is always on hand to address any issues that may arise but Ive never seen or heard of any from people whove visited the place. One may think that there is not enough variety around East Stroudsburg to be choosy but there is and me and mine choose this place. :)

Im sad to say this was the absolute worst dining experience I have had in my life. I understand it was busy but we arrived when they opened at 5:30, didnt receive service at your table for 30 minutes, then 30 minutes until the appetizers which well before we received them we ordered our food. Once 7:25 came around, my family and I have had enough. The servers were so rude to us and said we just didnt wait long enough. People received there food and had already left well before we had left. We gave plenty of time and the straw that broke the camels back was my wife asked for coffee and didnt receive it until 20 minutes later. If I could I would give this place a 0 out of 5. I hope they dont do this to anyone else. Happy New Years

The lunch specials are a great value with either soup or spring rolls. The Owner, and Head chef Boon, is around checking with every person about their me and makes every table feel like he focused the meal on them. The food was delicious. It was just a teensy bit heavy on sesame oil in each dish, but the flair and flavor it provided certainly did not distract from the other flavors of the dishes. Be sure to call first to make sure they arent slammed as the wait time can get into the hour time frame... But we waited the first night 45 minutes just to get this, and it was worth it!

OMG! This place is a GEM! The owner is funny and has superb taste in the arts, music and food! He displays a lot of intricate and beautiful wood carving pieces in the dinning area, plays Mozart he obviously thoughtfully picks out. Even the bathroom has 2 beautiful paintings, i enjoyed talking to him as well! I love my citrus drink and house special fried rice! Tom Yum Goong shrimp soup was amazing too, it was my favorite dining experience at a Thai restaurant <3, i will be back :)

Brilliant food; splendid service. We reached at 8:45 PM; the cut-off time for a Saturday night, owing to a thunderstorm that delayed us. Regardless, the welcome was genuine and profuse. The food, speed of service and quality were impeccable. Left the place satiated with the Mango dessert still lingering on the palate long after. Very reasonable prices and top notch service and food. Must recommend !!!

The only way to describe Saens cooking is that she makes every meal like a love affair orchestrated by Cassanova. Its the best Thai restaurant in the USA, probably in the world. I have eaten there many times and have had everything on the menu. I have been to better restaurants and have had better food, but the difference is marginal.

Awesome experience !!! I ordered chicken fried rice and Pa Nang. Pa Nang contains rich flavor of coconut curry cooked with Lemon grass which is natural herb and tastes good with curry. For desert, I ordered Mango cake which comes with a side of ice cream. It tastes so delicious. Overall a nice treat for your tummy ;)
