My husband and I love jazz so we bought the package and stayed over night. The food was not remarkable one way or the other, but the music really was excellent! While waiting for supper, the bartender suggested we enjoy the wrap around porches outside. The porch furniture was covered with bird droppings and the plants surrounding the building were so overgrown that some of the branches reached over to the lounge chairs on the second level. It was literally hard to find a place to sit. There was a large semen spot on the underside of the blanket in our room which was laying right on the pillow case and we were woken up in the middle of the night by a fight that broke out in the bar area, so we didnt get much sleep. The next morning, as we came back to the restaurant area for breakfast, I could see the food splatters all over the wall next to our table and wondered how much the dim lighting hid the night before. We were so disappointed and left feeling grossed out and hungry. Apparently, other people love this place (from the reviews) so Im not sure how to account for our experience. Sorry for being a downer, but I have never stayed anywhere this nasty before and I wish someone would have warned me if they had this sort of experience before we spent so much money. We just wanted to get home and shower as soon as possible.

I went to the Deer Head Inn for a drink before heading to the Art and Jazz festival. I really enjoyed the short visit we had. I was talking to a few people in and around there. I learned a good amount about the place and the Inn seems to be a great place for music (jazz and blues). I really liked the feel of the inside it felt comfortable and inviting. I was a little confused at first because the outside of the building makes it look like a really big private home. But then I noticed the small hanging sign in front of the building. The sign was wooden, shield shaped, with a funky pictures of a deer head. Right under the deer head the word JAZZ is very pronounced. The sign has its own charm and character to it that matches the personality of the building. Overall the Deer Head Inn is a place worth stopping by, having a drink and enjoying a conversation. Me personally will be stopping by to enjoy the weekly blues night!

Warning : If your expectation is the predictability of a chain restrauant and hotel... dont go to the Deer Head Inn. The DHI is a quaint and old, yet updated inn whos charm will ingratiate you, as will the attentive staff and its owners. Live jazz music is intimately arranged within the dining area that adjoins a spacious island bar. The kitchen serves up creatively prepared meals. Translated- there are chefs in the kitchen creating . While not advertised as such, its quality could be described as farm to table fresh. And, for musicians the DHI is a treat and treasure trove of history, aspiring local musicians and seasoned musicians- some of which are permanent residents of the Inn. The DHI exceeded my expectations.

This place is an old inn with updated, charming, and comfortable rooms. We pulled up pretty unsure with what we had gotten ourselves into, this place is tucked away on a little road in the Poconos. We entered the restaurant....met the nicest hostess who checked us in and gave us the run-down on the place. It is a jazz bar (with NYC grade performances) and restaurant which served delicious food. This is what America is all about...if you are sick of chains, predictability, and need to get away...stay here and relax. Really cool owners, hardworking small genuine staff, and unforgettable ambiance. WARNING: not for the Starbucks n chains traveler.

We had dinner here last night. It was one of the best salmon dishes I ever had in my entire life. Rice was amazing, carrots on the side were to die for. They were able to accommodate us 15 mins before kitchen closing but everybody was still welcoming. The only negative I would say that we had to pay a cover charge for a band that played only 15 mins or so. Other than that, it was great and we will definitely be back again!

Spent an evening at Deer Head Inn Sat 5/24/14, with my son and his wife listening to the trio of Warren Vache, enjoying drinks and snacks. It was a wonderful evening of great jazz and hospitable hosts at the INN....definitely an experience to return to.....nothing like it compares in my hometown of Harrisburg, PA......Thank you Deer Head Inn....and to my son, who knew the greatness of the event he invited me to.

This place is the oldest single location jazz club in the United States. They are open Thursday to Sunday with some exceptions. They offer a free open jam night Thursdays. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings is when the best jazz is offered. A full bar is available with delicious cocktails and a nice wine selection. The food is delicious and ranges from sandwiches to entrees.

Its a cozy town but well situated for the day hikers coming by to hike through the hills and ravine. The restaurant is in the deerhead inn and is a jazz bar by night. But for weekends also a gear at for breakfast and brunch. The food is delicious and staff is friendly

The Deer Head is one of my favorite places anywhere. A truly special place! Great live jazz, great food, attentive staff and unique ambience. The clean and comfortable rooms are tastefully furnished. A weekend at the Deer Head is a truly wonderful experience!

Hoo-dah thunk it? Enjoying breakfast while listening to classical guitar or having dinner and then listening to a jazz quartet; its all right here in this sleepy hamlet alongside the Delaware River. This is a great "go to" for a weekend breakfast.

This place is the definition of shabby chic. Its a jazz venue with a storied past. Dozens of jazz greats have played and recorded here. Not to be missed. Come see a jazz giant play here, but make sure you have a reservation!

Dont go for the fine dining because it wasnt fine at all. Embarrassingly small portions that were dry and no taste at all. We thought the owner would have said something to us but he didnt seem to care . Very disappointing.

Come for the top-notch live jazz and stay for the food and drink. National & local jazz greats play on weekends. Food and drinks are on par. People and service are terrific. Always had a good experience here!

Its a really nice place thats not hard to find. It costs 12 dollars however just to see the music, and the menu can be a bit pricy. But if youre into dinner and jazz, itll be a good time.
