We happened to be staying in this small town for the long weekend, so based on these reviews we tried Old Forge. The first night, we were able to seat ourselves and had a great meal. I thought this place was a real find based on that first experience. The decor is fine, clean, contemporary. The menu descriptions sounded good enough to warrant a return visit. We returned the following night, especially since one person in our group is vegetarian and I wanted to vet this place before he arrived. Night #2 was in a very busy restaurant and the wait for a table was well over a half hour. When seated, we ordered entrees (not good) instead of sandwiches and were sorely disappointed. I wished I had just ordered their delicious salad. Night #3, I returned with my vegetarian friend and we were seated right away, ordered the spinach dip (not great) and the fantastic salad with grilled portabella. The place was so busy with the crowds from the Knoebels craft fair, I guess that explains the 15 minute delay in getting our check. Overall, Id say stick to the salad & sandwiches. From what I could see a lot of guests at other tables ordered burgers. I wish whoever makes that delicious salad with cranberries could become responsible for making everything on the menu equally appetizing. If you say the crabcakes have little filling, serve crabcakes with tons of crab meat. If its not cost effective, serve one delicious meaty crabcake or change the menu so people are satisfied. Id love to love this place! Eat here--just stick to the salad & sandwiches!

Poor service in this new location... Since the new location of the brew pub we have been back there several times. The first time we went in there it was extremely loud (poor design) but they have since added features to dampen the sound. Our last trip there we asked for a table with a high chair and for some reason we were led to and dropped off (not seated) at a table without one. By the time we started to voice our complaints, the hostess was already gone. It took another 5 minutes to see our waiter and another 5 to 10 to get our drinks. We ordered appetizers with our meals and asked that they would bring out the kids meals with the appetizers. Needless to say they didnt bring out the kids meals early (I am sure it takes 30 minutes to cook a hotdog) and they forgot my wifes soup. It took 20+ minutes to get the appetizers and another 10-15 for the meals. During this entire fiasco we saw our waiter two or three times and we were only able to get one refill on our initial beers after we were 3/4 of the way done with our entrées. While the pricing is good the quality of the food had dropped over the years. It is the same old typical food and would love to see them step up the quality. I wont be going back very often.

We were out of towners. Had dinner at the Old Forge. Food was good. Service was just Ok. I had to call over one of the 4 servers standing around to take our order. Our waiter was busy (for a while) with the only other table he was working on. They had no featured soup (cook forget to make it, is what we were told). They had no featured dip either. The servers that brought the food over were very nice. They charge for each and every extras. 25 cents for cocktail sauce when you order crab cakes. Obviously not the cost that matters, just the principle. 25 cents for a side of caesar dressing for the caesar salad. The atmosphere and decor was nice. I would have liked to purchase one of the ceramic mugs as a souvenir, but was told its for a beer club.

If youre in Danville, youre either from the area or interviewing for a job at the clinic. Take the time to have a meal at Old Forge. The pale ale I had was fabulous, although all the beers were excellent. They also serve local cheeses and seasonal produce, which is very cool. The wait staff was efficient and professional and the food delicious. Check this place out, and support craft brewing.

On a random Friday night at around 9:30, we finally decided to try out the Old Forge Brewery after hearing about it several times from our friends. Friendly/prompt service, great ambiance, and probably the best chicken sandwich (The Big Jerk) Ive ever had in my life. My b/f tried out two of their beers, and said they were both awesome! We will definitely be going back again!

About 6 of us frequent Old Forge Brewery about once a week. We always get great service, especially from Scott, and great food. We especially love that they have Red Shale Ridge wine (only strawberry and Niagara(very sweet wines)), which opened us to a new local winery. The chili is out of this world and we love the pretzel specials.

Good beer. Good burgers. Good peanut butter pie. We ordered 3 meals to go and had 4 beers between the 2 of us while waiting for our food and we got back to our B and B down the road and realized the orders were wrong. I called and spoke to the manager and he said he couldnt bring us our correct order.

Rotten service. Food was not ediable and my wife had no dinner at all. The excuse was it is trivia night. So staff correctly. The tables next to us never got any food for over an hour before we left. Do not stop and try to have a decent dinner with your family it will be ruined.

Recommended when we stopped in Danville for the night, and we couldnt be happier! Everything is made in house, and there wasnt a single thing that our family of 5 got that wasnt extremely tasty! People are friendly, and the beer flight well worth it!

Friendly, homely environment. Love the interior. Was noisy when we got in for dinner. Extremely friendly staff, great beers, a must try soft pretzel, and competent burgers. Great vegetarian options as well. Really enjoyed our meal.

Nice place with friendly people and good food. We were passing through town and stopped for dinner. They had a magician stop at our table and do a few small tricks for the kids. Great experience, would definitely stop there again.

Love the atmosphere. This is the 4th time weve been here, never had a bar meal. My husband loves to try the various beers. I like a wine they serve thats.made by Dandelion Winery. Relaxed atmosphere, great wait staff.

Liked the old location better for some reason. The new location however is nicely done with a trendy (and healthy) menu ... and their own locally brewed beer. May need a reservation on Friday or Saturday night

Good food, excellent beer (had a cask-conditioned brown ale). However service was completely disinterested, beer was short-poured and mens bathroom had no soap (despite "employees must wash hands" sign). Ick...

I had the grilled chicken and the sandwich was dry and the pretzel bun fell apart. Hubby had the crab sandwich it was very dry and tasteless. Was excited to try their food but was a huge letdown
