This is a very nice little place thats off the beaten tourist path a bit. Most of the tourists to Lancaster County will generally stay around the Route 30 and Route 340 corridors, since that is where the majority of the attractions are located. Do yourself a favor, and travel just a few miles north of Route 340 into the heart of Amish farmhouses. Here youll find a really pleasant experience without as many people as the usual stops. You really need to pick up one of their Shoo-fly pies. The taste is absolutely delicious, without being sickly sweet like many other shoo-fly pies Ive tasted elsewhere. A large 9" pie will cost around $6, with 8" and 6" pies generally $1 less each. They also sell a ton of other baked goods, as well as a large amount of canned goods, all locally made. There are also plenty of other food and non-food items for sale in their quaint country-style store. The people there are very friendly and will gladly help you with whatever you need. For the kids, theres a petting zoo on the property as well. I have family that lives a few miles from here, so I know Ill be back each time I visit!

We stopped in at this bake shop a couple of weeks ago and among our purchases we bought a small Mince Pie - unfortunately we didnt buy the large one. It is thee most delicious mince meat pie I have ever tasted. Im from Ireland and mince pies are a tradition at Christmas time. The filling in this one was very obviously homemade as you would never get anything that tastes half as good from a store bought. Absolutely delicious and i only wish Id bought some more for the freezer. Lovely place - my kids enjoyed feeding the goats. The staff were gracious, friendly and polite.

Please dont make the mistake of confusing the Bake Shop with the Bakery of the same name. This is by far the best, freshest, real deal Amish bakery in the entire area. This is a great authentic family-owned business and not the chain store that the other place is. Great little present playground for the kids, swinging picnic tables, and a cute little petting zoo with chickens and goats for the kids. Dont let the tourist attraction look of the place dissuade you. The baked goods are the best Ive ever had.

Have been coming here for years. There is another bigger place nearby with a (VERY SIMILAR) name but doesnt have the charm nor the home spun flavor of the Bake Shop. They have Friendly, helpful folks, room for busses, & clean, ample restrooms. For the little ones theres a play area & farm animals. Lovely gift shop plus great coffee and best whoopie pies anywhere ( pumpkin my fav). Best pastries, & Great home made ice cream too. A must stop When in Bird in Hand.

This is really one of my favorite places to go when I am in Amish Country. I have made the 2 ½ hour drive just to go to this place. I love the sweets and baked goods as well as the petting zoo outside. It looks like an old house with a big porch so when you are there you feel like you are home. The people are always nice and the place is clean. Get the Apple Dumplings they are the best.

This is a very special place. There are lots of baked goodies, gifts, food etc. It is a feast to the eyes. My friend bought me a Christmas balls as a souvenir, postcards and baked good to take home for afternoon tea. The ladies were very helpful, courteous and all smiling. I felt very welcomed indeed! I would love to come back to this shop when we visit my friend again!

This is the best!!! Been coming to Lancaster county for years. The Bake Shop is our favorite place for cookies, pies, breads, fudge and all manor of treats. Everything is simply fresh and delicious. In warmer months there is an outdoor soft pretzel stand. Handmade, hand-rolled by local Amish children. BEST IN THE AREA! Definitely make the stop here; worth the trip.

We stopped by and we were pleasantly surprised on how wonderful everything was. I do baking myself and there baked goods taste homemade. We were so happy with our pretzels that we went back a second time before returning to NY. This is a must see. Dont bother with the rest because they are the best. Everyone is super friendly also.

They have a nice store with large variety of freshly baked goods, souvenirs, fresh ice cream and different kinds of beverages. There is a small play area for kids and chickens and goats that you can feed. There is plenty of seating outdoors to enjoy the ice cream or dessert that you buy.

This bake shop is a "must stop" whenever we are in Lancaster County. The friendliest folks, best pies and cookies and great souvenirs. We live in NH and are frequent visitors to the area, and we have been to many bake shops and NONE comes close in quality, service and/or variety.

Great customer service and delicious baked goods. I do not recommend the chocolate mocha rolls though because I want them all for myself. Dont take them. These are not the baked goods youre looking for...*waves hand in front of your face*

Always make it a point to visit this bakery. The caramel iced cinnamon rolls are the best. The fry pies are delicious. Great ice tea and now fresh pretzels. All the other treats are good, but I have narrowed them to these.

Fresh baked goods available Monday thru Saturday. Good iced cream also available. Some bulk dry goods also sold. Staff is very helpful. Love this bakery! Petting zoo & outside picnic tables are available.

Pretty good selection, off the beaten path, so perhaps a bit less touristy than others. Driving down the back roads to get here is the main attraction, but the baked goods and "nick-nack" selection is good.

Fun place to stop and pick up baked goods or trinkets. Out in the middle of Amish Country so youll see the horses and buggies. Great friendly service, cookie packages were delicious and reasonably priced.

Visit the Real Bird-In-Hand Bake Shop on Gibbons Road, not downtown. Fresh bread, cookies and pies made here onsite. Bring forks and have a pie for lunch. Good Amish people watching too.

THE BEST Fresh made bakery items. This is the place they make the stuff you buy elsewhere! Also a cute animal area for petting and a playground for the kids. Worth the stop.

Very nice bakery with a traditional, home feeling. Very nice people and lots of good food cooked with love, not food from a factory. Make sure to feed the goats outside!

Great selection of baked items as well as other food items. We tried some Shoo Fly pie and Apple dumplings. Try the pretzel guy outside. Very tasty pretzels.

If you want a taste of Lancaster County home baking, you have to check out Bird-in-Hand Bake Shop. Better deals than the Bakery! Enjoy

This place makes the BEST Shoo Fly Pie and Cinnamon Rolls in the World. Its a little out of the way but well worth it.
