My husband and I went to this restaurant last week, after reading good reviews here. First of all, when we ordered Karahi Paneer and Aloo parathas, the owner who took our order recommended that we take an extra sabzi. Since I am a small eater, I said we will order for extra if we needed more. The owner didnt stop there - he made a face and asked us again to take an extra sabzi. So we ordered for Dal makhani. The aloo parathas and dal makhani were ok, but the Karahi Paneer was horrible..inedible. The gravy tasted like it had tomato ketchup in it. The masala did not stick to the paneer, the green peppers and onions were not cooked. We have eaten excellent Karahi Paneer in nearby restaurants. When the owner checked on us, we told him honestly how the Karahi Paneer was, and he got very upset, and started defending that it is the best stuff they make, and nobody has complained it in the last 2 years, and we are the first ones to do that. He pointed out that we probably had not tasted Karahi paneer anywhere. Finally, he did not deduct the price for Karahi paneer from the check. Any other decent restaurant would have done that. Not only do you get mediocre food at this place, you will have to deal with an owner, who will force you into ordering extra, and then proceed to embarass and insult you. We are not going back to this restaurant.

So I consider myself somewhat of an Indian Food snob, mostly because I try it in every city I visit for work. Chinnar is your run of the mill strip mall place, nothing really sticks out. Atmosphere: Like I said, typical strip mall join. Everything is pretty plain, and the colors are dull. It is a nice open space so even when it was crowded it dont not feel cramped. Service: Like most buffets there is really not much to the service. There was one gentlemen running the whole dining room and register but he was constantly walking around so you always had water and your plates cleared. Although, a smile would not hurt once in a while. Food: I sampled everything on the buffet. The Tikki Masala had a nice flavor, but was too runny and I prefer it spicy. It was a lighter color, I prefer a darker and thicker. The rest of the food was pretty good as well, all the temps were great and it was fresh.I would definitely go back, but would probably sample other places in the area first before deciding on my go to place.

I had been here solo or with work folks for the lunch buffet which is great. I was the only vegetarian in the group, but there were a ton of options, including excellent chana masala, nan, onion bhajia, and aloo gobi. The non veg folks seemed to really enjoy the tandoori chicken and butter chicken. Reasonably priced, clean, and fresh food. but...the reason I love them is that i came back with my 3 year old and baby (and my wife) and they were soooooooo nice to the kids. They ran to the back to get oranges which werent out on the buffet because I had told my daugheter about them, got her oranges, had the kids eat free (although the baby mostly didnt eat)...just a super place and super people. best indian food in or around philly. We have been lots and will continue to go.

We have been going to chinnar from past 3-4 years. Everytime our experience only gets better and better. We have held numerous events in the past with 50-60 people and every time guests have nothing but to good things to say about the place and food. Recently we just hosted an event for my daughter’s first birthday. We had about 65 people for this party. Newly renovated Chinnar is more spacious and was able to accommodate 65 people with a dancing area without any issue. The owner was extremely helpful and personally made sure that all the guests are taken care of. All around a great event and a HUGE KUDOS to Chinnar management and staff. I will absolutely host another event here. Thank you for taking care of us and making our event quite memorable.

I went to this restaurant last week for dinner with family, and it was just amazing. They welcomed us nicely and suggested some great appetizers to order. It is a good place to visit with family. Good food, good music and good service. We tried the Chicken Kababs which were amazingly cooked and also the paneer and malai kofta in the main course were mouth watering. The fresh cooked Naan with the curry were just perfect. We ended our dinner with Gulab Jamun which was again great. I would definitely recommend to stop by at this place. GREAT Food!!

We celebrated our daughters 1st birthday here... The food was amazing... Everything was made fresh and we didnt need to worry if the food was over or if our guests were taken care of... The waiters kept filling the empty trays with more food...The owners gave personal attention to everything. All our frnds commented on how nice the food was and tat they have found a new place to visit for nice authentic Indian food... From start to finish having a party here for 60 people was seamlessly executed with the help of wait staff and the owners.

We had a baby shower with many kids under 3. The owner billed for five kids under 3 even though hed said over the phone that the kids eat free for lunch buffets. On top of this, he added a 18% gratuity for the buffet. None of this would have bothered us if hed clearly stated this. Everyone thought the food was stale and especially the rice item had gone bad. We were over 10 families and none of us returning to this place. A year ago, it used to be crowded. With the bad press, no wonder youll find it empty these days.

We had a traditional event of a half saree function for which Chinnar carried out the catering. No event is successful without delicious food! And Bingo!! they did a splendid job. All our expectations were met- we had a lot of guests who arrived from India. It can be very hard to tick their boxes of expectations about food but to their amazement they couldnt believe the authenticity of the food which was served. I shall highly recommend them and I am very pleased to have them as a part of such a memorable event!

Went to the Restaurant last week with a bunch of friends, has to be the best Indian food I had in a long time. Had malai chicken kebab for appetizer which was amazing. For main course we had Chicken tikka masala, Paneer Makhani, Malai kofta which were made fresh and made just right. The service was awesome the staff is very friendly and willing to accommodate your requests. Overall, a very pleasant experience definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Indian restaurants in the KOP area.

Our family has been going to this restaurant ever since it opened. The food is consistently good to excellent (we love the chicken tiki marsala and the plain naan). The service is friendly and relatively prompt. I believe the restaurant is familly owned and run. There is a buffet at lunch time. During the evenings, it seems that most of the business is takeout, but dine-in atmosphere is clean and pleasant. If you crave Indian food, this is the best Indian restaurant around this area!

What fantastic caterers! The food was simply incredible. I went to a wedding and the food was delicious. They were working the party they were all but invisible as they bustled through the crowd and kept everything perfectly clean, fresh, and beautiful. There were around 250-300 people & everyone was delighted by the food. I would absolutely hire Chinnar for catering. I loved how responsive and professional they were, but you really cant beat their delicious food.
