This shop was the warmest, most welcoming place Ive set foot in around the area. Theyve made GREAT use of their space right next to the municipal fire hall, which, by the way, was a pre-existing structure. This alone brings them right into the fold with what the Pittsburgh renaissance has been all about--rehabbing old spaces. This place has charm and theyve laid it out comfortably and efficiently. I settled in to do some work and there many others sunk deep into their comfortable chairs here too. For you manual coffee lovers out there, they run an Eva Solo here in addition to all the standard run-of-the-mill brewing methods, and it yielded an excellent cup of Ethiopian Reko during my visit. They serve MadCap coffee, and its pretty excellent. Todays barista (who I think may have been the owner) had a really good handle on the "good" seasons of coffee. I got to spend a few minutes talking to him and found out right away he knew his stuff when we conversed about the good crop of coffee that had come out of Colombia over the summer. A definite gem! I will make the 10-minute drive away from home (from which I can walk to THREE coffee shops) to do my work here from now on. Thumbs up! FIVE/FIVE

I am very fortunate to have a coffee house of their caliber right in my neighborhood. The atmosphere is welcoming, with a book share library, an area for board games, and both work tables and easy chairs. The coffee (and tea) is always fresh. Soft drinks are also available. Their food and soups are worth a stop, if you are in the area. But, be sure to save room for the locally made muffins, breakfast bars and biscotti. This may be a neighborhood place, but welcomes all. Route 65, Ohio River Boulevard, is just 3 blocks away (exit Rte 65 outbound at Dickson, then turn left onto Church St just before street starts uphill.)

This coffee spot is magnificent. Im a huge coffee junkie and i have to say their iced coffee (which Ive had everyday for weeks now) is perfect. The atmosphere is super relaxed and super welcoming. Im lucky enough to live right next door to this gem....I must say that i was worried when i heard the original owners of the previously named fire escape were selling the place, BUT i shouldnt have been. The best thing to happen to ben avon in a very, very long time. Go get a coffee, kick back, read a book, Enjoy yourself.

We stopped in here on a whim while exploring the area. Great coffee chop. Nice layout with lots of tables and space, couches, and easy chairs. I got a mocha that was really fantastic and my wife got a chai latte that was very good. While most places make chai from a mix, they actually brewed it. You could tell the difference. We will definitely be going back.

Great coffee from madcap in Grand Rapids! Tons of seating, everything from tables by the windows to bar seating and even couches and lounge section. Highly recommend this place, my favorite shop in the Pittsburgh area by far.
