Our waitress (the bleach blonde one with black roots with the black glasses, which i hate to distinguish her like that, but she truly deserves the negative recognition and isolation because the other imployees do not.) did not know the first thing about manners. She was not humble at all in anyway. I said "thank you" and she did not even give me a head nod or a second look. VERY unprofessional and unpalatable taste for such a place i hear so much about. Not only this, but when one of the members in my party said "i dont want my drink strong because I have to drive" the waitress replied "well thats what most girls say. But i like mine strong". The audacity to say such a thing makes a foul, bitter taste in the palate of anyones mind. Trying to make herself better because she can stomach more alcohol. This establishments reputation is comparable to the classic "have a great laid back time with friends or family" but the waitress made it seem like this is a biker stop where your intelligence is based off of how many alcoholic beverages one can drain into your stomach. They did not live up to their reputation by any means. I hate to give them one star on the account of ones bitter rudeness, but it does say alot about who they let work the floor. They need to hire workers who treat customers with respect. And no i was not rude in anyway that makes me undeserving of a "Youre welcome". I feel i was very respectful towards her and she completely and in every was was just completely disrespectful. And im literally sitting at the table where this all took place. It happened less than 10 minutes ago. It is fresh to my memory so i can assure anyone who is reading this these are exact quotes, this experience was real, and that i will most likely never return. You reading this shouldnt even stop by unless you want to waste your time.

If you want your waiter to ignore you, then this is the place to eat at. I gave it 5 chances at random times. I have only had one good experience there. It isnt my imagination either. While I was waiting 15 minutes for the lady to come back and refill my childrens drinks, I overheard some patron ask the busser to get the waitress because she was ready. I watched him find a waitress, who looked clueless while trying to search for the customer. When our waitress finally made it to our table, she started asking if we needed anything....then randomly ran off mid drink refill order, not to return for about 5 minutes. I was so unimpressed watching the staff try to function. There does not seem to be any structure or leadership in that establishment. None of waitresses seemed to have any idea as what they were suppose to do. It was just pure chaos. What I have taken away from my visits to the Varsity Grill is that, if you are the only one in the restaurant, you will receive great service. Throw in a second customer and watch chaos manifest itself in the form of poor service and blank faces. However, would be a great place if they had some form of management, any management for that matter. The staff clearly has no idea what to do and they are just clueless as to their function in the greater scheme of things. To a better future I suppose....

Food is only okay. The wait staff, while very kind, does not seem to have had any kind of formal training and were not attentive to ANY of the guests. It is unfortunate when you have to ask for someone to come take a drink order (this is mainly a bar, yes?), or have someone come and check on the table after an order has been placed... even if you are only delivering the check it would be nice to see the server more than once without asking. These are only a few of the issues that I have had here of the numerous chances I have given it. I think that there is a lot of potential in this establishment, but it has a long way to go before I can see giving it more than two stars.

Service tends to be very slow and unorganized. The burgers are good, but other things Ive tried have been pretty awful: mashed potatoes are fake and taste bad; vegetables are overcooked and mushy; salad is dry and wilted; calamari is bland and rubbery; they stopped stocking non-alcoholic beer because they didnt sell enough of it (maybe because they didnt bother to list it on the menu and were inconsistent in stocking it). We live in Scappoose and go there once in a while, but I usually come away disappointed and wishing we had gone somewhere else. Unfortunately there are few (practically none) good restaurants here.

The food is ok. Just your basic bar and grill type food. Menu is slightly pricy, especially since a lot of the items on the menu can be found in many other places in town for cheaper. Not a fan of the bar, which is open to family and screaming kids. They had closed the "bar" which used to be separated from the restaurant. Staff, however, is extremely friendly.

Fantastic bar. Probably not the cheapest place in town, and there are some menu items that are a tad pricey. Overall though the staff is incredibly friendly. Theyve had some turnover, and its for the better I think. Fun on game day, and now theyre showing Timbers games!! Get in there. Great atmosphere.

Food is edible but certainly nothing to write home about. Have eaten several times recently at different times of day and the wait staff is horrible no matter when you are there. Plenty of people on staff, they just seem to not know you are there.

Food is not good. Few steps above fast food. Always over cooked and tastes like its been frozen. Drinks so so if your waitress pays enough attention to even get them for you. Always have to ask for water. No ac its hot and muggy.

Breakfast all day, yes! Solid food for decent prices in a clean, modern place. Just what our neck of the woods needs. Cant go wrong with the atacos or anything really. They take pride in their food and it shows, worth a visit.

My Ruben had sauerkraut on it and it was to juicy you should drain the sauerkraut I fry the sauerkraut I couldnt eat the sandwich it was to soggy
