Great Lunch - we arrived about 11:30 for the lunch buffet, finding there were no other customers when we got there, but as noon approached, the place started to get busier. Taj Mahal is located next door to Adams Rib and does not have their own parking lot, so youll need to remember to bring change to plug the meters out front. The space itself is small and plain, but clean. We were greeted by a friendly but formal-mannered young lady. After being seated, we were offered beverage choices - my wife chose hot Indian tea, which was a mint flavor with cream; we had never tried it before and it is excellent. The buffet consisted of a fruit/salad area, two choices of soups (tomato and chicken), baked nan, basmati rice, vegi pakora, dal makhni (lentils, beans, herbs), chicken saag (creamed spinach with chicken), chicken jalfrezi (chicken & vegis in sauce), tandoori chicken and rice kheer (creamy rice pudding). Everything was fresh and good tasting. The one negative - the vegetable pakora was a bit cold - it seemed like the heat should have been turned up below the tray. But the flavors were all wonderful - my wife loves saag above all else and she was impressed. The nan was perfect. I also liked the homemade-tasting tomato soup. Well gladly return to Taj Mahal.

Ok. So before I give my full review, let me start off by saying I am a food SNOB. Not picky, just very particular. VERY. That said, my Husband and I ate here tonight and IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! While I wanted to stuff my face, I am an 8 meal per day in small portions type of eater. I felt horrible when the nice gentleman came to our table and said "youve hardly eaten anything!" I reassured him that it was incredible and I meant it. Having lived in Salem for 3 years, Ive been waiting to find that one place that has comforting food and a quiet atmosphere but in the style/taste that suits me. Well, 3 years later, IVE FINALLY FOUND IT! It was almost like a weight lifted as I bit into our appetizer, and as stupid as it may sound, I feel I finally found a place I "fit in". I could come here alone or with a group of people. Regardless of the scenario, I will be back! We enjoyed the vegetable samosa appetizer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, basmati rice and fresh nan with raitan. Very clean restaurant, nice music in the background, and the staff was extremely friendly. Thank you Cuisine India, best restaurant Ive been to in at least a decade :)

The food is delicious but more importantly the staff is kind, gracious and accommodating. My wife has many dietary issues and our waitress on the last visit spent a lot of time with her on options, they wound up cooking the food "homestyle", unamericanized, the way they eat it at home. Indian food is one of our favorites and my wife hasnt been able to eat it for several years because of her dietary issues, but she can come here! And it was delicious, I dont even like ocra, but they cooked it wonderfully! The place is always clean and well lit. This is probably my favorite place to eat in Salem, its obvious they value every customer that walks through the door. The first time I ate here the owner opened the door for a homeless man and gave him money, and just now he served a homeless man a free meal, what a kind person! They deserve your business, highly recommended!

It was the dirtiest restaurant ever! Flies everywhere, old buffet trays with food laying in pile, no lights in bathrooms that were disgusting, old tissues on couch in seating area. Mucous wiped on tablecloth with nose hairs in it...what more can I say. The first time we were there it was sketchy and went back after one year. They have blocked any view into the kitchen and that is scary too! Just go in and walk to the bathrooms that go back by the kitchen. They needed a leaf blower in the hallway just to clean up. And then leave as quick as possible!!!!

I love the food here. Very authentic, wonderfully flavorful. Everything Ive gotten has been fantastic. Could use a tad more friendliness as they arent that nice if you only get food to go. If you eat in Ive seen they are much nicer to clientele. I guess that is just something they appreciate more. I am a regular and have been here a hundred times or more, and yet they still arent that friendly to me. Oh well, maybe just a cultural thing. Either way, doesnt matter, I love their food, so I keep coming. It is worth it for sure.

Worst Indian food ever. Samosas tasted like rice paper filled with mashed potatoes and peas. Vegetarian Malai Kofta tasted like tomato bisque soup over baked wheat bread dough balls mixed with mashed potatoes and peas. Where is the spice, where is the flavor and where is the fresh ingredients? I didt even mention that the Chicken Korma (which was spelled wrong on the menu as corma) had nothing but gristle/cartilage and the sauce was dreadful. Oooops I guess I did mention that after all.

Delicious, vegetarian friendly, and incredibly nice staff! We came for dinner and we plan to come again. Cuisine India has become our GOTO place for indian food! I sat down with a big smile and left with a huge grin. The staff made us feel welcomed and engaged in light humor. The food is delicious as well - with a huge variety of options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommended!

Super friendly staff and quick service. This place is super authentic, as are the owners and staff. The food was great and have numerous options/types of naan. The reason Im giving this place 4/5 stars is the price. I had a boat of chicken korma and it was $13. Although, delicious, I feel that $10 would be more appropriate for the quantity. Other than that, I definitely see myself going back.

Best Indian food anywhere! No other places compare. Ive been coming here for years now and will never change. My favorite is chicken tikka masala, always order extra because there wont be any left overs for the next day, and youll want them! Wonderful service, love the sweet ladies that work there. Tip: excellent food takes a while to prepare so I like to call and order ahead. Happy dining!

We moved to Salem recently from San Francisco Bay area, where the Indian restaurants serve the best tasting and authentic food. We tried 2 other restaurants in Salem and found this one to be the best- in taste, freshness, and cleanliness. The owner and his wife are very sweet and courteous. I highly recommend this Indian Restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy Indian food.

Super tasty! We had the lamb and vegetable samosas, then I got the chicken korma, and my boyfriend got the lamb curry, and we split a cheese naan. Im stuffed from just half of my entree, and looking forward to the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Wait staff were very nice, and stayed on top of keeping his pepsi and my tea full. Definitely making this a regular place to go!

I wish I had discovered this months ago. I had the chicken vindaloo, garlic naan, and chai. The chicken was tender and moist, the sauce, which I had ordered medium spicy, was perfect, the naan fresh out of the oven, the rice was ideal, and the chai was spot on. The price was excellent, too. I plan to make this a regular spot.
