We placed an order for takeout for Poori Bhaji & Veg Biryani. Veg Biryani tasted superb. I utterly disliked Poori bhaji. It was very bland. Not recommended to eat poori bhaji. I was nonplussed when the money I paid for the order was $ 7 more than what the website shows. Poori bhaji was 4 bucks more and veg biryani was 3 more. I confronted the man at the register and he said that the 3rd party company has not updated the website since last 3-4 years ago. Then he said not 3-4 but 1- 2 years. Total bluff. They , in my opinion, do not intentionally update the website and try to make that extra buck. That mans attitude was so what the website is not updated. You got to pay what the bill is. Instead he blamed me for not asking the price while placing the order. That man could not even speak proper English. Service, hospitality was bad. Hospitality is generally bad in Indian restaurants. Being an Indian, I hate that and feel very shameful about this. Please check the website for the prices and then call them to verify the same before placing an order for takeout. Rating: Service: 1/5 Quality of Food: 3/5 Hospitality : 0/5

We went to this restaurant around 7:30 on a Sunday. The first thing the owner did was ask if we "had a reservation". We said we didnt. Keep in mind that only six tables were filled and about 16 were vacant, and it looked like almost everyone else had already been served. We were sat at a table with menus but the waiter/owner never came back to fill our water glasses or take our order. He wasn’t busy, he was just standing around or filling peoples water. He ignored me when I raised my hand to get his attention. I finally went to him and said we were ready to order, but he said HE WOULDNT TAKE OUR ORDER FOR 10 MORE MINUTES BECAUSE WE HAD NOT MADE A RESERVATION. My husband and I went to this restaurant with a Groupon and my husband is so honest he had it in his hand when we entered. Apparently you needed “reservations” to use your Groupon, but the print was so small (size 5 font) that my husband didn’t see it. So basically, the man would not serve us! We left and do not recommend anyone eating this terrible place. We went to Namaste when the servers were great and treated us well.

Horrible service! We were the first customers after they opened for dinner. We showed up for a reservation time but after standing inside alone for a few minutes, we still had to wait another minute after yelling hello to the empty room, to just have someone come to the front house to greet us. A woman that appeared to be the cook sat us and a man came to give us menus. However he didnt come back with our waters even though we asked for them and ordered drinks. We finally managed to get him to come over to our table again and reminded him of our drink orders 10 minutes earlier. He had not been doing anything besides just standing not even cleaning, even though we were literally the only customers in the entire restaurant. During our meal he never asked if we wanted anything unless we called out for his attention. The food was good but the lamb was tough and dry. When we were done eating we waited nearly 30 minutes chatting to each other before one of us finally walked to the corner of the room the man was hiding in to ask for our bill directly. Seriously horrible service; no effort at all.

Wish I could rate 0 stars. Writing this review as we wait for our lamb Biryani to come ( pretty sure its going to be below average). No other place has left such a bitter taste in my mouth even before eating anything. This is the conversation I had with one of the waitresses - do you want any drinks? Yes. -what do you want? I would like to have Corona. What? - Corona? What? - I. Would. Like. To. Order. Corona. Beer. Please. Waitress with frustrated tone - we only have Whats there in the menu. Me-corona is there in the menu. Waitress - Ohhhhhhhh its KARONA not Corona. So you want KARONA? Me - no. Thanks. Lamb boti kebab was hard, chicken lollypop worthless and Idli Sambar worst ever tasted. Im from Seattle and never again stepping into any Indian restaurant in Portland. These guys should be dipped in tar, rolled in white feathers and chased out of town by sundown.

We drove an hour to try this place out based on the good google review rating. We spent two months in Southern India and we love authentic, fresh Indian food. We especially appreciate South Indian dishes. We tried the Samosas wish were good, and the chai which was also fine. However, we were very disappointed with the masala dosa and with the sambar. These dishes did not seem fresh, the dosa did not taste right and the sambar tasted more like North American chili. Even the coconut chutney was not fresh and had an odd flavor. Overall, the food was mediocre. We were most disappointed that the service was unfriendly, even after we left a very generous tip (as we customarily do to show respect and appreciation), we did not receive one courteous smile in return. Perhaps they were having a bad day.

Absolutely the worst. The food was of extremely poor quality. The waitress was unfriendly and it took way too long to take our order and bring us our food. The ambience wasnt great either. The lighting is dull and the atmosphere isnt anything to look forward to. Coming back to the food, we ordered South indian combo, gobi manchurian, and tomato rice. The rice was bland and tastleless. The manchurian was too sour with no taste or spices. The masala dosa was terrible. They put a samosa filling inside the dosa and called it "masala dosa". The dosa didnt even come with chutneys when it said on the menu it would. The only thing we liked about this experience was the free cold water and the candies at the end. Stay away. I rate it -4 out of 10.

I would rather eat dirt than eat here ever again. Ive lived almost exclusively on Indian and Japanese over the past year, traveling cross country three times and stopping at many many restaurants. The only Indian place worse was inside a run down truck stop in Nebraska that also offered totinas frozen pizza and burgers on the menu. The samosas were hard as rocks and the chutney was strange to say the least. The garlic naan was like a giant cracker with no garlic taste. The chicken tikka masala tasted like leather in tomato soup. The mattar panneer was watery and tasted overpowering of cardamom. The portions were tiny. But at least the mango lassi was good so theres that...

Worst Indian restaurant I have been to in Portland. The food tasted terrible, and I wasnt able to go to work the following day because of stomach sickness. I was even planning to go to the doctor wondering if I had a food poison. The dosa, idli, chutneys and potato masala were awful. Do not ever buy those! Also, the customer service was so bad that I wasnt even given plates to eat the food I ordered. I hope this restaurant gets shut down soon by the Oregon Food and Health Department. To the restaurant owner, please do not spoil the richness and flavor of authentic Indian food. My kind advice to all: NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. PERIOD!!!
