Ive been looking for an authentic Taiwanese restaurant since I spend 2 months there for work... just some place to find real niu rou mian (been noodle soup). Ive been to two other local taiwanese restaurants. While each of those other places had delicious food, Oolong Yuan actually transported me back to the streets of Taiwan. I would guess most Americans would say the beef noodle soup at the other two places tasted better (more salt and more complex flavors) the beef noodle soup at Oolong Yuan (in my opinion) is more true to Taiwan. Another thing of note it the restaurant is really set up like what I experienced in Taiwan, a little less new/trendy (ok a lot less new) and more like a family biz where the family lives in the back room. Also we were the only non-Taiwanese people in the restaurant which is pretty much confirmation that this is the place to be for authenticity. The owner and host were extremely nice and friendly. And after some small talk even brought some off the menu delights :-) The Bao was fantastic, steamed veggies (bok choy) was perfect, and the fried tofu was delicious although I dont remember having anything of that flavor in Taiwan. The only thing missing was stinky tofu and Taiwan Beer. Their bubble tea was excellent, very nice black tea flavor, just like I remember. Final note: the tea eggs were just like the real one on the streets of Taiwan. Other eggs from other Taiwan restaurants locally while amazingly delicious, just were slightly different what I remember from Taiwan, almost like some special seasoning was missing. Anyways, if you want a Portland twist on Taiwan, go to the other places. If you want to spend an hour transported to Taiwan, go to Oolong Yuan. My new favorite Taiwan digs...

So check this out right, as we were driving by my buddies were like "look at this place" and we decided to stop by to see how authentic the food was. dont let the nice atmosphere, wood floor and greeting from the people running this spot take your attention away from the awesome sandwiches, appetizers, rice dishes & not to forget, 2 different soup bowls to choose from. by the look of things when we walked in, the beef noodle soup was on hit. I opted for the salt / pepper chicken with rice and my pals got the terryaki chicken. 2 thumbs up for authenticity. ill definetly be returning here soon. Service was on time and I forgot the waiters name who helped us but he made sure to check if we were good. Thanx D. So If your in the 87th & canyon area anytime after 11 a.m. and want a nice lunch experience then Oolong Yuan is the place to be. Thanks again guys.........

I went here for lunch the other day, and I found them disorganized, but their intentions were always good. They appeared confused as to who ordered what and in what order the food should come out. In fact, they forgot to place our order. However, it could have been an unusual day for them, and I dont feel I would say it was normal. I actually look forward to going back to try more of their dishes . We enjoyed the tea egg, pork belly rice dish and their Taiwanese beef noodle soup (which was swerved nice and hot!)

Hands down, one of the best taiwanese restaurant in Beaverton. Recently opened and Ive been coming in almost everyday. Im a fan of sweet potato fries, and they have one of the best! Its topped with plum spices! Their salt and pepper chicken is also the best! Dont forget to add Marbled Tea Egg to your dish! I really recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves asian food! Robert and Randy are the owners, they take good care of the place and maintain the good quality. Tammy cooks great taiwanese food!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Quiet place and the building is a bit dilapidated. The server was nice and friendly. We ordered battered pork, tea egg, pork steam bun, beef soup and shaved ice. The tea egg was OK, battered pork and steam bun were pretty good, soup OK and shaved ice so-so (too sweet and they ran out of tapioca). Overall 3.5/5. OK but not great. Wife may come back for the battered pork it reminded her of China.

Good Taiwanese food. Place is a bit hard to find at first. Theres a parking lot. It gets really busy on the weekends, by 12:30 PM it was almost full. Service was friendly and prompt.
