95% sure they put water in their teriyaki sauce to save money... I ordered the kalua pork plate and my husband got the loco moco. His was incredibly bland, no seasoning at all. My pork was very fatty and the mac salad was bland as well. To make it palatable, I poured some teriyaki sauce on the whole plate. It looked very watery in the bottle but I poured it anyway. Took a bite, and tasted NO teriyaki for the large amount that I put in... I was super surprised because teriyaki is very salty! So I poured some in a small togo cup and put some on my finger to taste, and it literally had NO flavor. It was DEFINITELY mostly water. At that point, the water sauce had removed all flavor from the pork, turned the Mac salad into a pasty glue blob and left a huge puddle at the bottom of my plate. Im very easy to please with food, not picky at all... but I couldnt eat it after that. Thanks L&L for ruining my meal by cutting your teriyaki sauce with water to save a couple bucks. If you seasoned your food a bit, maybe people wouldnt have to drown it in condiments. Never going back.

The first impression I got from L&L Hawaiian Barbecue was sterile. I think any restaurant with an open kitchen should smell like food, and the restaurant was too cold. L&Ls lack of an inviting smell portended the meal I ordered: the mahi plate. True to a Hawaiian plate it came with sticky rice, macaroni salad, chopped cabbage and tartar sauce. The mahi was sliced thin, battered and deep fat fried. It was tasteless. I couldnt detect any herbs or spices (maybe this is by design so one can season the fish themselves). The macaroni salad was also bland, but palatable. They were out of plates (?), so I got the meal in to-go containers even though I was eating in and their credit card terminal wasnt producing any receipts. Both minor things, if the food had been good. To be fair, other items on their generous menu may taste better, though I doubt Ill return to find out.

I seriously have no respect for this place. Waited over 40 minutes for my food. They messed up and kept giving other customers my food. Then they argued with me to give me a refund. Then they refunded a different customers card and didnt recharge them. They finally refunded me after being there for an hour!! I asked to speak to the manager but they said he was at a dental appointment and I called back today and now he has a therapy appointment. How convenient. None of my 204 employees will be going here anymore. They lost business because of their terrible customer service. I will be reporting to the better business bureau.

The food was decent, but my friend and I had to wait 45 minutes on a slow afternoon for our food while watching other people get served before us. The staff did not warn us about any wait time (even though there was only one other customer) and seemingly forgot about our order over all. When we did get our food and walked out of the building, I notice my order was wrong. I loved the malasadas, but will most likely never return for a meal.

Stopped in for a fix only to find out that this place is run by non-Hawaiians now. I thought maybe the real cook was in the back but low and behold, the guy that came out the back was worse than the guy attempting to make "authentic" Hawaiian out front. If you want Hawaiian food made by a guy who looks like a Russian DJ in a EPMD club, then be my guest - if you know better, you do better. Ill never go here again!

Location was convenient. But thats where the good stops. The food was so bland and flavorless. I wanted teriyaki chicken, which they did not have, but instead told me to get the bbq chicken. I did not detect any bbq flavoring. At all. The Mac salad was gross, dry, and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Never would I buy their food again. Place looked like a dump too. Garbages overflowing etc.

I love hawaiian cuisine so we were hoping this would be a good experience. In fact, it was quite unpleasant. The poor staffer was left alone to do all the cooking, cashiering, and cleaning- apparently his manager was due some time before and was late. The food did not taste good. The place was dirty. My husband couldnt even eat his meal, so we both picked at mine for a while before we gave up and left.

The gentleman working was friendly and polite. He made the food fresh and hot. I got the Kalua pork and cabbage. It was on the salty side. I had to add the hawaiian bbq sauce to dull the salty taste. I may have a high standard for hawaiian bbq as I am used to a fantastic place in Bend. This one weasel not bad but you can tell the difference between a franchise hawaiian bbq restaurant and a traditional one.

We were in the EastPort Plaza area for coffee and decided to stop for lunch as well. The neighboring dim sum place was packed to the brim and overflowing outside so we decided to try this Hawaiian BBQ place instead and were really pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is very basic (no frills) and the food is very affordable and delicious. I ordered Chicken Katsu and loved it. Ill be back for more!

these guys must be racist against white people or something somehow when I was the first to order at least four people got their food before me , but they all had dark skin, I sat for fifteen minutes waiting for food, usually good service, when the white guy is working, but not when these asian guys are, used to be my fav, but not with this racist crap

Yikes! Not sure how these guys are still in business. I had the curry rice. It was runny, bland, and mushy. It reminds me of poi. Whatever my wife ate was likewise yucky. I rate restaurants using the "Three C Index": 0-9 for cost; 0-9 for quality; 0-9 for quantity. L&L Hawaiian Barbecue rates 4, 1, 4 with a total of 9. That is a very low index.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I got the Loco Moco and the flavor was not there. It was definitely a frozen patty that was grilled and the egg was completely overdone. The gravy tasted like it was canned. Really bummed. I went to an L@L in Honolulu and it was really good. I was hoping to have the same taste.

Horrible customer service!! Place was unclean and the bathroom was even worse. Food order was wrong. The fact the staff argued with me about what I ordered instead of fixing the error is ridiculous. Waited 25 minutes to get the wrong order. Do not recommend eating here. I ended up leaving without my food order.

Hands down the worst hawaiin food weve ever eaten. The place is absolutely filthy and the majority of the customers when we were there were bums. Ordered the chicken katsu and husband found two big chunks of possibly beef in his. Chicken looked more like pork. Grim. Avoid.

This place is pretty great for your money. The guy behind the counter took my order made my food and was cleaning the lobby with half a dozen customers in line. Talk about hussle! I can see why some reviews complain about waiting but thats prolly only when they are busy.
