Phew... where to begin!?! The food, lets begin with the food. Stellar. Period. I had the special, an eggs beni with a twist... to be perfectly honest I dont even remember what the twist was cuz I was so into just eating it! It came with some greens on the side to mix in which was nice and the eggs were poached perfection. At the table we also had the sausage breakfast sammi. Caramelized onions for the WIN! The cinnamon role is the best thing I have EVER put in my mouth... and thats saying quite a lot! I could HEAR my arteries closing up at just the smell of it! Its that good. Small but powerful for sure! Menu is small and as any of you who follow me know, Im a sucker for a place that does a few things and does them well! Dont dazzle me with options, charm me with perfection! Prices are normal to high. Great local products and handmade goods. Everyone there is invested in giving you a great experience and product. Seating is a little sparse and its an order at the counter kinda joint so be patient or come early. In the summertime this place will nearly double its capacity with outdoor patio seating that looks perfectly charming but not overdone. They open early so dont be the 11 oclock Portland brunch sucker! Ill continue to come here and I bet they earn my 5 star in no time! Im so pleased for this new investment in our awesome off the beaten path Cully neighborhood!

Yum! Its a cool place: clean, spacious, well lit, and decorated with newspaper wallpaper. My Mexican Mocha was amazing - foamy all the way to the end but still substantial, and the barista made a flower shape on top with the foam (its the little things!). :) Off the breakfast menu, I had the bread pudding French toast with apple-pear cardamom compote (VERY fresh and topped with a hefty portion of nuts, not barely a walnut like you get at most places). It was truly a cross between bread pudding and French toast. It was only about $8, so I wasnt expecting it to be such high quality. My friend woofed down her frittata and then tried to eat all of my French toast. Next time Im trying the triple berry compote and will eat faster (or go by myself and bring my laptop to study). *Returned for lunch this time! I had the Roasted Root Vegetable Soup (OMG, tons of yummy veggies in a tomato purée-type base for $4) and a latte, this time with a heart in the foam. :) <3

The pros of this place are: a great community-hub potential in an area that needs more of that. Quality mostly local fresh ingredients going in, friendly staff and cool decor with outside seating. The cons are: lack of clarity/signage in what things cost--with a little sticker shock on things like coffee. Menu doesnt always describe items well--I had a Tartine, which was poached eggs and greens over sourdough toast. The greens had at least 3 tablespoons of whole spices, and an unusual sauciness, which made the dish hard to assemble and eat, and the textures competed. Another time I tried, on recommendation, the sourdough waffle w/ fruit. Each part Was delicious and fresh, but it was overwhelmed by a tasty, but unmentioned, huge glop of lemon curd. This spot is in my neighborhood, so Ill keep trying--hopefully theyll hit their stride as time goes on. Fabulous pies!

I live right around the corner from this place and was excited to maybe have a good cafe in the neighborhood, I am sorely disapointed. First off they are rarely open during posted business hours then when I do finally catch them open I ordered the quiche but not something I would do again, it was wet and Soggy and served to me cold. The food is extremely overpriced for what you get ($11 for a tiny slice of quiche and a cup of coffee), and the decor of old newspaperclips, sheet music and old license plates is too busy and kinda tacky. In their defense they did have a really good cup of coffee but so do a million other places in this town

I love this place! I cant believe this gem has been in my neighborhood and I didnt know it. So glad I tried it. Upon walking in on a somewhat rainy day, the room was warm, welcoming, and inviting. I loved the decor - you can tell a lot of effort was put into it with the music sheets on the walls and nice lighting, but that doesnt distract from the coziness and great food. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I had the sourdough waffles and also got to try the scallion pancakes. Both were very tasty and well presented. I will definitely be coming back sometime!

I live near this cafe and was excited to have it opening in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, it is never open. The first time I attempted to eat there, the doors were still open but the staff had decided to close early. Everyone working there was completely unfriendly and did not seem to want to be there. I am disappointed to see a space with such good potential go to waste. Hopefully the next business that comes here will be owned and staffed by people who actually live in and appreciate this neighborhood.

Im giving it 3 stars because although my meal was wonderful, my husbands was not. I ordered the scallion pancake with pork belly and loved it. My husband ordered the smoked salmon hash. My definition of hash involves some potatoes, but apparently theirs does not. The trout was covered with pickled onions and red bell peppers and no potato at all. If the menu had listed it as smoked trout smothered in pickled onions he would have ordered something else. It wasnt at all what we expected

It was great! Works like a cafe, you order at the counter. So no table service. The menu is selective and excellent. My son had the waffle with marionberry apples, I had the trout hash with sweet potatoes and poached eggs. We both enjoyed them. My little complaints: a little loud. Lots of reflective surfaces make conversation vocally straining. Then again, it was packed when we were there. So glad there is a nice place for breakfast right up the street. We will go back for sure.

New Years Day Brunch was Spectacular! I had the Hash with Trout, the Polenta, the Scallion Pancakes. The trout hash was divine and a non-greasy but still scrumptious traditional hash alternative. The Polenta was very balanced. Cranberries and almonds and Marscapone oh my! The scallion Pancakes were perfect with the poached eggs and greens. The tarot cards as placeholders was a terrific finishing touch. The old school cool ambiance is well executed. Ghosts.

Airy, open space papered with regional newsprint from the last century, and surprisingly cozy. Treated myself to the bacon-wrapped meatloaf sandwich which excelled all expectations. I probably could have just had a large plate of the fantastic greens (Ill definitely get an extra side of it next time). Friendly folks on both sides of the counter. Apparently theyll be open for dinner soon. A neighborhood gem for sure.

Ive eaten here twice and its been excellent both times. Ive heard folks complain about the prices, but the food is worth it. Drip coffee is worthy of Portlands coffee nerd crowd and its bottomless. I was able to enjoy a late breakfast and work on my laptop peacefully for the rest of the morning while sipping great coffee.
