We go to Happy Dragon very regularly. We lived in San Francisco for about 7 years and got used to good authentic Chinese food. We never expected to find such excellent Chinese food in the small town of Independence! I regularly order something off the menu (Ma Po Shrimp) that I described to them from my memory of having it in SF. Its fantastic and even better the second day. The Salt and Pepper Fish is so addictive! We have had many different beef, pork, fish and veggie dishes there that have all been delicious. My husband loves the clay pot Sizzling Beef, clay pot Mixed Seafood, and Mongolian Beef. If you like a little curry, the Singapore-style rice noodles are also great. Dont forget the Sampan-style clam (for the more adventurous)! Pro tip: the egg rolls are enormous - each the size of a small burrito. I can hardly finish one and you wont want to load up too much before the actual dinner arrives :-)

Love the place. Really excellent food, service and cleanliness. reasonable prices. They will make your food how you like and even have a few authentic "not on the menu" dishes if you know what to ask for. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The wait staff in general were top notch. Best in Independence and Salem area. Dont pay attention to the "Yangs Teriaki is better" review....obviously the management at Yangs trying to drum up business for their lousy food with fake reviews.

4.5 stars. I really ( and I mean REALLY) WANT to give this place 5-stars, but its beyond obvious when different cooks are in the kitchen, which means really inconsistent food. Dont get me wrong, the food is still great, but the amount of times Ive been here versus the consistency is enough to knock off that little 1/2 star. Other than that, the food is fantastic, and the staff are very kind; which is my reason for giving them 4.5 stars.

This is the best American style Chinese food in Oregon. Hands down. Their Chinese style Chinese is just as good, but since most folks who live around here dont eat that stuff Ill just speak to their General Tso and what not. IT ROCKS. Plus their chef has amazing technical skills too. It isnt just the flavor thats amazing, but the texture and mouth-feel and color... Go here once and youll wonder why you ever went anywhere else.

Since they reopened with new management in fall 2013, weve never had a problem there. The food is good, and you can ask for non-spicy versions if you want. Service is friendly, and they gladly give refunds if anything isnt to your satisfaction - In our case it was just a dish that was spicier than expected. We go there almost every week and sometimes twice.

Im a Chinese. I have tried a lot of Chinese restaurant in Oregon, but I would give full credits for this restaurant because it is very closed to real Chinese food. Every time when I miss my home cooking, I only wanna go here. If youre looking for delicious Chinese food, this is the best in Oregon!!

Great Chinese food, authentic taste, which means my kun pow chicken had a light fish sauce undertone that you may not be expecting. They were also really willing to accommodate, I love watercress nuts which they dont normally put in their kun-pow, however provided generous amount upon request.
