We decided to make a "day after" Mothers Day visit to Marco Polo. An advantage of their menu is the wide variety, from Chinese to European and a mix of other items. My wife ordered the Spinach & Mozarella-stuffed Ravioli with Sauteed Shrimp in Alfredo Sauce. A negative: they initially forgot to bring out the shrimp, so we all sat and waited a good ten additional minutes after our food arrived before the shrimp followed. But this is a terrific dish (with all the components.) Really flavorful - their white sauce is excellent. I took advantage of the $6.95 specials and ordered Garlic Green beans with chicken. The flavors are great - my one complaint is the beans seemed a bit "hard" - like maybe theyd been in a freezer at some point, rather than absolutely fresh? I really am not sure, but the texture was just a bit off for a dish Ive had many places. I wont order that one again. A friend came with us and she ordered the Chicken Fajitas. We tried the chicken and a criticism of it is that the primary spicing element seemed to be an abundance of chili powder coating the chicken. Im not a fan of that. Some other glitches - this is an aesthetically "interesting" place - it looks nice and the view from our table overlooking the adjacent park is great. But the service here, in our two visits, has been iffy each time. This time, there was the shrimp issue. Plus, after giving us maybe 5 minutes to ponder the menu, our server returned. We werent ready yet and asked her to come back in a bit. 15 minutes later, she still hadnt returned - and she never did! Someone else saw our plight and took our order, but remarked "I dont know where she went." We eventually saw her later, but it was as though shed forgotten our table. About a year ago, we attempted to visit on a Wednesday night. After waiting maybe 30 minutes to get seated and another 30 minutes for our server to return to take our order (he never returned either!), we gave up and left. Ill give this another try at some point but the service issues really need to be dealt with before I could be a frequent patron.

Went to Marco Polo with my girlfriend on her suggestion. At first I thought the idea sounded pretentious- three menus? I couldnt have been more wrong. For an appetizer we ordered the Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms. Expensive at $5.95 (little mushrooms, they were) but extremely good. I ordered from the Euro menu, due to the Wild Mushroom Chicken popping out from the page, telling me to taste it right away. My girlfriend ordered from the Chinese menu- The Marco Polo House Noodle, or some such name. My entree came with soup, so I ordered the Cream of Mushroom. Creamy Creamy Creamy soup, with the mushrooms still having a bite to them, not overcooked to nothingness. I hadnt even finished my soup when my entree arrived on a large square plate. The presentation was beautiful. Two large chicken breast pieces atop savory noodles. Vegetables cut and cooked to perfection on the side (Zucchini, Carrot, and Onion), a sensibly sized bread stick, and throughout it all a velvety sauce with earthy mushrooms soaking it all up. I couldnt stop telling my girlfriend how perfect it all was as I discovered a new taste here, a grand texture there. I did sample my girlfriends entree, which was tasty... but I was lost in mine, amazed with every forkful. Why havent I been here before? I kept asking myself that, over and over. The prices are average and quite more than fair for what you get (excepting those tiny mushrooms, which were delicious anyway), and the staff were what I can only describe as a perfectly shifting timepiece- water refilled instantly if you found want for it, the kitchen moving quickly (entree came out less than ten minutes after ordering) and in sync, the hostess looking after your meal every so often. Im coming back, early and often. Im going to make my way down that European menu start to finish, then Im moving on to the Chinese. Maybe in a few years I can tell you about their Vegetarian menu. Bottom line- this place SHOULDNT work at all, and yet it does. Very well, at that.

Ive never had a better dining experience! Excellent and abundant selection of food to fit the tastes and preferences of omnivores, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Our group had a mix of all and everyone was ecstatically pleased and immensely satisfied with their dinner. The portions were generous and the prices more than fair for this level of quality food and service. I could go on for several pages trying to describe the food. EVERYTHING was prepared and cooked to perfection. I would describe it as up to Gordon Ramsey standards. After spending a little time trying to decide on what we wanted for our entrees the appetizers arrived. The pacing was perfect. As the last of the scrumptious appetizers were consumed the entrees arrived simultaneously, hot and fresh. The ambience and service were outstanding. Our server was warm and friendly and kept our water and other beverages refilled, checked to see if we needed anything and one of the owners, Jackie Chung also came by twice to make sure everything was good and up to expectations. A lot of restaurants have standard dessert items as a traditional afterthought to the meal but Marco Polo treats dessert as the finishing third chorus to a full symphonic culinary experience and have unique and special items to choose from and even a section of new choices. I had the Mango Mousse Cake. It was indescribable delicious and a perfect taste bud orgasmic climax to an astonishing meal. It was definitely worth the 60 mile drive from our home in Eugene Oregon to Salem Oregon to experience the diners delight of The Marco Polo Global Restaurant. (Im wishing right now that I had gotten an extra order of the Mango mousse Cake to go for Later ;-) )

I went to Marco Polo for a birthday party. The service was great-- promptly seated drinks filled often, and food brought without little wait. First off I had a samosa and fried mushrooms for an appetizer. The samosas were bland and put a shame to the traditional Indian way. The mushrooms had no flavor either, they had a dipping sauce that seemed to be just a normal cocktail sauce. Strange pair. I ordered vegetable curry spicy for my main course. The curry was thick and lacked flavor. I went in for my third bite and found a LONG disgusting hair. The waitress brought me a fresh plate of Pad Thai to replace it. The pad Thai was sticky and unconventional from normal Thai food. My brother had the Morco Polo Noodles--- they were horrendous. Something like burnt 25 cent pack of ramen with steamed veggies drenched in a liquid that was similar to the sauce with egg foo young but thin. Shocked this would be a signature dish. I am very disappointed and will never come back. The service was so great that I feel bad leaving this review.

The food is really great! They have a vegetarian and gluten free menu and they also make vegan cookies and custom cakes plus vegan cakes! My 9 month old is extremely allergic to dairy and we have gone here twice and they have catered to our needs with no problem!! We also brought my sister who is allergic to chicken and dairy and she had no issues either. The reason Im giving it 4 stars is because when we got to the front desk no one was there to greet us for 5 minutes and then when we were seated we ordered our drinks and they didnt come for another 5 minutes and they forgot one which came right away. We ended up getting a new waitress and she took our order and refilled drinks and brought our food out in a very timly manner. To our surprise she even brought the vegan cookies I had mentioned!! Totally reccomend this restaurant to people with allergies and also those who dont!
