Well I probably wont be going back to my favorite lunch spot anymore, heres my mixed review. Its for Swagat Indian Cuisine in Hillsboro. First let me say theres nothing wrong with the food, or the price. Ive been going there for lunch for the past couple years because they have an awesome buffet to-go deal where, for $10, they give you a container and you fill it up with what you want. I would stack it real full and get 2-3 solid meals out of it. But Im fairly picky about my Indian food, theres a few dishes I love but most of it I really dont like at all. Well, they changed their buffet deal...They lowered the price to just $6.95, but they no longer let you fill it yourself, or pick what you want. They fill it for you and just choose whatever they want...obviously they dont fill it nearly as full. Its still a good deal for the amount of food, dont get me wrong. But now I ended up with a container full of mostly food that I really dislike, so the new setup just doesnt work for me. If you love virtually all Indian food, I still would highly recommend them. But if youre a nitpicky a-hole like me, dont bother. I have no experience dining in or with anything other than the take-out lunch buffet. I still gave 3 stars because theres nothing wrong with the food or the price. But its not something Ill be able to look forward to anymore the way they are doing it now.

I love the fact this place is so close to my work. Whats great for them is they are in the heart of Orenco so they get a lot of Intel people for lunch. Its a good size place so has plenty of seating. Its not viewable from Cornell so its best to park in back of the shops where its closest to the restaurant. The people here are always great too. Very friendly and enjoyable to be around. The food here is really good. For lunch, they offer a buffet menu that really hits the spot. I wont try and pronounce some of the dishes because ill just butcher the names but they have a wide selection of curries and marinated meats which is always good to have in a buffet. Its actually quite extensive too so you ll be hard pressed to try everything unless you are strategic with your food portions. But everything is so good you want to keep going back for more. The best part is the price. You can have so much food and it wont cost you an arm and a leg. Cant wait until my next trip.

Absolutely terrible service! I popped in for an over $40 order, mind you this was three different items so not a horrendous amount of trouble for them to make. Well, the plus is the food was good, the negative is that the naan was raw on the inside, and burnt on the outside. Im assuming the "cooks" in the back forgot that they were still open and turned off the kitchen, and instead of notifying the customers decided to just burn the food in hopes of cooking it. And while Im trying to call them, they will not pick up the phone. Currently Ive called five times since ordering, mainly because at this point Im just wondering if they even care about service. Well they dont, I am assuming they pay an agency for their ratings, because I cannot imagine this business having such high accommodations for their terrible service.

After a tiring morning of meetings, I headed to Swagat with couple of my friends. After tasting the lunch buffet at some of the Indian restaurants in Portland downtown, I was not expecting much. However, I was deliciously pleased with the lunch buffet at Swagat. The buffet was awesome. Tadka was just perfect to Daal and Saag Paneer was delicious. Appetizers and Desserts were delicious too. All the dishes were served warm, which is very important if you want to enjoy the complete taste. Indian food tests best when served warm, except for the dessert. The only downfall was rice. It was Basmati rice but a little sticky. Real Basmati rice has all grains separated from each other. Overall, best lunch buffet place in Portland area. I would definitely like to go there again. :)

This is one of our favorite East Indian cuisine restaurants we like to go to. The lunch buffet is awesome! There are a great many choices to consider when you are there, and it is one of the few places that actually has the Naan bread in the buffet. Other places weve been to you have to ask for it and if youre a Naan lover like me, Im asking constantly. Come check them out in the nice little neighborhood of Orenco Station. Its conveniently located near the max station too, if youre coming from downtown or another part of the Westside where youre near a max line.

Went here for a retirement party for a colleague last week. The service was prompt and the food was excellent. I got the palak paneer, one of my favorite Indian dishes, and it was great I have gone here for the lunch time buffet before and was not impressed but this was about 3 years ago. The buffet selection at the time and the flavors seemed a bit off. Again, that was 3 years ago, so perhaps they had an off day given that my meal and the other 22 people in my group who were there had nothing but good to say about their meals.

Went here for lunch buffet. The buffet area is circular which means people are crowding around each other and going opposite directions. Rice and naan were frequently out. The tandoori chicken, chicken makhani, and koorma were very good. I also liked the pakota and vermicelli kheer. The décor is really nice, I liked the look and the chairs were cool. This is a very close contender for best Indian buffet in the area, Ill have to visit again to confirm how it compares to Chennai Masala. So far 4/5 even with the confusing layout.

Visiting this restaurant for last over a decade (when once it used to be Shalimar before becoming Swagat), however gradually seems their food quality is deteriorating over the years, and today when I visited with my family for buffet lunch, I couldnt finish a single dish (felt bad leaving food in plate). If you are looking for a formal dinner venue, may be this serves that purpose, as it presentable compared to other restaurants, but certainly not the quality of food. May be they make efforts to improve their food quality.

This is my favorite restaurant in Orenco Station. Its calm and nicely decorated. This place is popular for lunch but I didnt care for the selection of curries when I tried it. The real reason to come here is the mughlai. This creamy butter curry has a wow factor X10! The tikka masala and korma have also been fan favorites when we bring family and friends. This place is also great if you are looking for take out. They conveniently package nice portions of curry with rice and hot naan. Delicious and easy weeknight dinner!

My wife and I tried the daily lunch buffet that they offer and were very impressed! We usually go to a different Indian food buffet, but they were closed. Luckily for us Swagat was not, weve been wanting to try it for some time and we finally did. There was so much to chose from, I really loved the Lamb Curry, Tandoori Chicken, and Chicken Makhani. Also the desserts were very delicious, especially the Mango Custard! All in all, I am very happy that we tried this place and we will definitely be coming back here again!
