The food is not from the sea food market if they tell you this its a lie. It is pre-cooked Cisco Company brought in and just plain horrid. I find it extremely funny that some people will eat anything. Locals and we are locals will not eat here. The ratings saying its great have to be from the owner and friends. Go to Bandon you pick you seafood out right at the counter, fresh. The waitress was just awful. She looked as if she had been up all night, and said she worked there 11 years. Time for a new job. Cider was cold half full. $52 dinner, prawns in heavy old tasteless batter, shrimp not jumbo maybe medium skinny somethings? Ling Cod special a pile of some kind of fish, no Ling Cod ever looked like that. Potatoe overcooked , clam chowder cold and tasted like canned. The bathrooms which the waitress with a nasty look said not their responsibility were filthy. The only reason they are still in business is the unsuspecting tourists and the Jet Boat Ride is right there pulling them in. Someone needs to open a decent place for locals and returning guests.

Wife and I ate there Sunday Oct 2, 2016 for lunch. Service was good, Sandra our waitress was friendly, you just have to talk normal to a waitress and not pretend she is your servant. We got along just fine, and joked around. The special was "Mussels" that day. I ordered them and wife ordered Clam Chowder. Both were good, but the wife kept taking my mussels. So I took some of her Chowder. We sat at a table by ocean facing side of the restaurant. The black berry pie was excellent with ice cream on top. All the staff that we dealt with were very nice, including the cashier. We complimented her on the good food. We got there a little before noon, place was near empty..when we left at 1 pm, the place was pretty much full. Our seat had a nice view of the bridge and the bay. We will return again...stay away from the lunch crowds, and you will have great service.

This is a generous 3 stars, mainly because the desserts were so delicious and salvaged what was left of our experience there. We ordered the crab cocktail, salads, clam chowder and the seafood platter. The chowder was the best part of the meal. The salads were plain, the crab cocktail had good flavored crab meat, but was skimpy for the price. DO NOT ORDER the seafood platter!! The menu leads you to believe it is fresh, grilled seafood, but everything came out breaded and fried and mushy. The side of frozen veggies was just that, and the baked potato was good. Overall, service was fine. But if we were to ever go back, we would definitely stick with the fresh catch and daily specials. GET THE BLACKBERRY CRUNCH PIE!! Yuuurrrm!

From the get-go, we knew something was different about the Port Hole Cafe. The owner (Tony) came over to our table and asked us if everything okay, if we liked the food and if there was anything he could do for us. I can count the one and ONLY time thats happened in ANY restaurant, and that would be at the Port Hole Cafe. The Fish & Chips are to die for, as is everything else on the menu. Fresh, home-made pies arrive daily and if you like burgers and fries, youll LOVE this place. Tonys fries are definitely the best Ive ever had. Well be going there again soon, Im sure, the next time were in Gold Beach. HIGHLY recommended and I give it 5 Stars without hesitation.

Im surprised to see the number of negative reviews for this place. Yes, this is a cafe and yes the locals eat here. The decor is nothing special but the place was packed when we got there. We had to wait for a table but the wait was well worth it. The clam chowder was one of the best Ive eaten. I also ate the fish and chips. $12 for 3 pieces of fish is not unreasonable at all. The fish was fresh and tasty as well. Service was a little slow but considering how busy they were and the fact that the server came back to our table to keep us updated on our order made up for the speed the meal arrived in.

This was a pretty good stop if you are in the area for jet boats or fishing. Definitely a place thats best for lunch instead of dinner. Most of what is on the menu is deep fried but it wasnt a heavy batter so that was a plus. We were seated very quickly and the service was very friendly and fast. I got one of their specialty played which was the Shrimper which came with fries. There were 6 total shrimp that were butterflied and lightly battered. Came with basic cocktail and really tasty French fries. The menu was fairly large and probably has something for everyone.

When you first enter there is a nice atmosphere. The clam chowder is good, but when I recieved the so called "seafood combo" all i recieved were two peices of cold disgusting fryed oysters, then 2 fried shrimp, only 1 small peices of fish and, 1 scallop wich was also cold and tasted like a wet sponge. We also had the shrimp melt wich somehow didnt taste like the mini shrip only the green onion came through the whole thing, so it would be cheaper just buying bread and green onion. I suggest avoiding this resteraunt unless you are only going to eat the clam chowder.

We have eaten here multiple times while vacationing on the Oregon coast. The chowder is delicious, as is the fish and chips. The hubby got the crab melt, which was phenomenal! This place is nothing fancy, but for a mom and pop style cafe, its really great. Its always clean, the food is consistently good, and the service is always super fast and friendly. Ignore the negative reviews...we will continue to make a point to stop in whenever we are in Gold Beach!

The food was great!!Much like the kind of food my husband cooked at the,"Autumn House" years ago.The lunch staff was great &friendly though sorry to say the dinner staff wasnt. The older lady who met us at the door & took our money afterwards wasnt friendly -never smiled,or said anything but what she had to;,the young teenager who set the silverware never responded to a thank you from us or anyone..Our waitress was friendly & smiled. She,was an asset .

My father and I stopped here while on a road trip down the 101. Cute little family owned place. They were super busy (it was Fathers Day) when we were there, but everyone was nice and service was good. Dislikes: Clam chowder was standard and the side salad was lettuce with a couple croutons. Likes: Blackened flounder was tasty and their pie was awesome! We had the Strawberry Rhubarb and also the Blackberry and both were delicious.

If I could give no stars I would. They were rude treating us and my wifes service dog. We were told to put the dog on the floor or leave. The dog is 3 pounds and is in a small carry case. She needs a small service dog because she has 16 compression fractures in her back. They were very rude and demanded that the dog goes on the floor. We stated he does not and they should read up on the rules. Sure he must stay out of the kitchen.
