We usually have a great experience at Swensons, but today was not the case. We ordered and said it was a to go order. Everything went fine with ordering. Heres where the disappointment came in: The guy that took our order gave us the food and said that he would be back for to collect payment. After a couple of minutes have passed, he returns and takes the bank card. We timed how long it would take and waited for his return for a little over 5 minutes. Never showed - thought he ran out the back door and booked a trip to France (lol). I turned on my lights and waited until another server came running up to the car. I told him want happened and he said he would fine our server and speed things up. When our server STOPPED running around the parking lot - he went into the building (hopefully to speed things up), then came out dropping off orders to people that showed up wayyyyyyy later then when we first arrived. He went back into the building picked and came out with 2 more orders for someone else and then handed us the bill and card. After telling me repeatedly where to sign and trying to get me to hurry it up without looking at the bill before I signed - I promptly told him I know where to sign, but Im going to look it over. After all looking a bill over before you sign is not only responsible, but only takes a couple of seconds which is less time it took to receive my bill and gets my card back from him. It took a total of 7 minutes from when I gave him my card to run through the machine and to get it back. Yup, that tip was zero. Plus, when we finally got home the food was cold and needed to be heated up and the fries were soggy from sitting in the bag so long that condensation built up. Not to mention that the toppings on the two sandwiches was reversed and messed up. So, out of the 177 positive reviews - this reviewer is at least telling it like it is.

Look, Im gonna say it: I dont love Swensons as much as a native Northeast Ohioan is probably supposed to. I have great memories of going to it as a kid with my dad - hot dog & a hot fudge sundae, every Wednesday after dances classes - & I definitely love the experience & nostalgia of grabbing a meal here every once in awhile. But the food? Doesnt bowl me over. I didnt eat my first hamburger until I was 26, just because I always thought they were going to be gross (did I just blow my reviewing credibility?), so when I finally decided it was time, I knew my first had to come from Swensons. It was the right choice for a cheeseburger newbie because the meat is so sweet & pounded thin - definitely an uncommon burger taste. That first time, I liked it but didnt LOVE it, & now that Im a cheeseburger regular, it turns out that I still feel the same. Something about Swensons burgers just doesnt wow me like they do everyone else. I love the potato teezers, & Im a big fan of their malts, but if I want a good burger, Im headed to BurgerFi in the Falls. Sorry, Swensons. Can I keep my Akronite card after writing this review?

I grew up in this neighborhood, and my grandparents live down the street from the Cuyahoga falls location, so Swensons is comfort food for me. If you like Five Guys, try Swensons- its better all around, from the beef patty flavor, to the soft grilled buns, to the classic beverage selection (try a phosphate!!) They usually have college aged guys serving, who literally RUN to your car and are super friendly (and cute, if you are into the eye candy, but be professional, they ARE working after all). Open pretty late especially in the summer. Great for take out or sit in your car. Reasonable prices for the quality and service. I find myself craving Swensons every now and then, and a little road trip to my old hood is always quaint and a cheap evening trek.

GET THE GALLEY BOY, POTATO TEEZERS & A HOT FUDGE & PEANUTBUTTER SHAKE! The car hop style restaurant has officially been perfected. The car boys run to your car offering prompt and friendly service. The menu has something for everyone including a very popular veggie burger that rivals some NY restaurants. The have all kinds of season dishes and a massive loyal following of 16-25 yr old girls who oogle ad the car boys serving them food so watch out in the parking lot!!! The old school style seems like it hasnt changed since they opened with crusty fresh buns and wax paper bags that hark to a more laid back time. I cant make a trip to NE Ohio without going here for a Galley Boy!

Its a girl? Its a boy? No, its a Galley Boy! This restaurant has this "best burger" I never tried it. I hear its good. Swensons burgers are good regardless if you get a galley boy or not. They also can shake some mean milkshakes, so good. The fries are average, burgers are greasy and good, if you are a snob who doesnt like a classic burger because he is too good for it then dont go here. But, if you are a cool guy come drive in and get some burgers.

Every city has their best hamburger. You can debate whether Swensons is the best hamburger, but it certainly is the most iconic, best hamburger experience Akron. I go with the Galley Boy, but the rest of my family loves the cheeseburger. Fries are great as are the onion rings. The wait can be long, which is not bad if you are dining in the car but can be a challenge for pick up. So I call ahead when I am doing a pick up.

First time stopping here, and I am not disappointed. I have never been to a drive in before so that was a new experience. Asked whats I should try and they recommended the Galley Boy. So I ordered that some onion rings and a shake. The burger was a delicious mess. The onion rings were too greasy in my opinion. The shake was very good also.

Sadly,it seems Swensons has gone down hill. Last evenings order was awful. I ordered a salad because I have dietary limitations. The lettuce looked like it was due to be pitched. The chicken wasnt quite done. Hubbys Galley Boy was sub par as well. We called in the order and it hadnt even been started by pick up time. What a shame.

They galley burgers are quite good. This is an old school drive up restaurant where you stay in your car and they bring the food to you in your car. They bring a tray that sits on your window. Just flip your headlights on and they will come wait on you. Good prices, good service, and good food.

Amazing food and a great experience every time we go. The servers are always there to help you in an instant, and I love the old school eat and park dining experience. They also offer a veggie boy and other vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat :)
