My wife and I had heard good things about Ale House 1890, but both bad service and food which seemed of low quality for the atmosphere (which was very cool) and the prices. To begin with, I ordered a draft beer from a brewery in Columbus I have been to many times and it didnt taste right to me. After taking a sip I told the server this and asked if I could have another beer instead - he said he couldnt do that. Most nice places I have been to would have happily allowed this - I blame the management. We asked the server several questions about drinks and food on the menu that he couldnt answer - this seems like a training issue. When I was a server years ago, I was required to taste every dish on the menu and to memorize the ingredients in each one. I ordered the Cuban Chop - I didnt think it very flavorful and it seemed dry to me. My wife had the Salmon Pear salad - the salmon was way overdone. Although they redid the dish, they took her entire plate away while waiting for the Salmon to be recooked so she couldnt even eat the salad part, which was fine. All in all, too many things were wrong with the experience for me to believe it was coincidental!

Excellent! One of the best burgers Ive ever had (the Creech & Chong) and the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The bartender, Chelsea, was extremely knowledgeable about the food, the beer, and the scotch selection. As a professional traveller I can honestly say their prices are half what they should be amd the service is great. I was accidentally give sweet potatoe fries instead of regular and when I mentioned it, not only was the issue fixed in record time, I had no less than 5 people come and apologize. All in all I had one of the best gourmet burgers in the country and a good craft beer and walked out under $20! (Excluding tip of course). Keep up the good work. I will be here every time my travels bring me within a 100 mile radius!

My wife and I went for lunch on a Saturday around noon and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was quick to take our drink and appetizer orders. We ordered the Seared Scallops and Pretzel Bites for apps, both of which were delicious. The scallops were tender and the puree they were in made a nice pairing I ordered the Se7en Pepper Burger, cooked medium, and I wasnt disappointed. The burger itself was juicy and had a good flavor, the sliced bell peppers and jalapeno relish were both great touches along with the Sriracha aioli. My wife had the Barnyard Burger which she said was great too. Overall a great experience for our first time, and we both cant wait to go back and try something else.

We just had dinner at the Ale house . I ordered the salmon and rice. Unfortunately they had ran out of rice. Not sure how since Krogers is less than a mile away?????????. The salmon was not bad ;however, wasnt seasoned. Substitute for the rice, I ordered jalepeno cheddar grits. The grits were fair to midland. My partner ordered pecan crusted chicken and mashed potatoes. Both were dry and inedible. In summary, bar food is similar.

Great place for a casual lunch/dinner. Creative menu with wonderful execution and delicious pairings. Comfortable atmosphere with a very knowledgeable and attentive staff. Plus a very nice craft beer selection both on tap and bottled. Also a fairly large wine selection. A very enjoyable restaurant that you should by all means try!

The atmosphere was interesting and the decor was kind of reminiscent of cracker barrell, Cracker Barrel, Spaghetti Warehouse....just a little more upscale. The food was good but a little pricey for just your average person especially at lunchtime. The wate staff was pleasant and the establishment was clean and nicely appointed.

Food was good but absolutely terrible service, waited 45 minutes for our food just to find out our waitress forgot to put it in. Not appreciated, especially with a young child. To their credit, they did apologize, take our meals off the check and give us a free dessert. For that reason only, we would consider going back.

One of the best dining experiences of my life. The atmosphere was wonderful. The history of the space was fascinating, and the staff was very knowledgeable and eager to answer our dozens of questions. The food was some of the best Ive had. I thought the prices were beyond reasonable. Highly recommend. We will be back!

First time there and it was amazing food. The Cheech and Chong Burger was great. My girlfriend got a steak cooked exactly to order. The Lemon basil bread pudding was amazing as well. Nice friendly staff. Would definitely recommend for anyone who asked if it was a place worth trying. Good luck to the business.

First time in the area and decided to try Ale House 1980. The food, beverage and service was great! Everybody was friendly and Miranda helped with selection from both menus. The Traven Steak was good, cooked as ordered and the vegetables were not mushy. Reasonably priced and good selection.

We have been to the Ale house several times. The pecan crusted chicken sounds better than it tasted. Dry and not much flavor. My friend tried it later on and the same thing. However, we love the 7 pepper burger! Enjoy dining outside when the weather is nice and listening to music.

Great staff! Ever-changing craft beer selection (plus your favorites too), Robust menu selection - fairly priced and delicious. Classic historical environment. This is my first time there - Ale House has been placed on my small list of favorites!

More of a bistro than a pub type when it comes to the food, which is "okay". Not a lot of seasoning or salt used where needed. Portions are pretty good, but its a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Service was better than the food.

I love the atmosphere in this place, but in step with that is the FOOD and SERVICE!! Overall great place, recommend it highly. Its one of, (if not), the best high mark establishments in downtown Lancaster. Ya gotta check it out!!!!

Love the Ale House! The menu options are great - burgers, salads, gourmet pizzas, and delicious modern American entrees. They have gluten free pizzas, too! Make sure to check out the bar and local drinks.

Great draught list! Wide variety on the menu from a rare tuna steak in a bed of greens to burgers and fries. Great atmosphere and delicious food. The only downside is that they do not take reservations.

I live in Lancaster and this is the only bar I go to. I love the food, the bar tenders are amazing (kate in specific), and their alcohol selection is insane. I love this place.

I havent had a full meal here so I cant comment on that, but the snacks are good (A+ for the sliders), the bar is stocked, and the bartenders are friendly.
