On our way out of Hamilton and back to Beavercreek, our trusty old Xterra overheated. We figured it was fate that we had to quickly pull off the street and into the parking lot at Richards; we were hungry and we needed to let the engine cool down. After enjoying delicious steak sandwiches with homemade fudge for dessert, we headed back out to the car. She fired right up. We smiled. We made it to the stop light. And then we headed back into Richards parking lot. My husband changed the diagnosis from coolant issue to head gasket - and that meant a tow back to the Dayton area. *sigh* The folks at Richards were wonderful, helpful, and sympathetic. They allowed us to stay inside while we waited for the tow truck, and since it was bitterly cold outside, that kindness was most appreciated. Our compliments on the food and our thanks for the many kindnesses! Joe & Cathy Hochadel

This used to be really good. We have had problems the last few times we went. They now have a "restroom key"....which means.... if you want to use the restroom, you have to touch this key that has been touched by other people ....in the restroom.! The key is kept up at the serving counter. ! I realize there must have been troubles there in the past but there needs to be a better system for this. A few times back we noticed there was not much pizza sauce on the sandwiches so the next time we asked for more sauce and they loaded them up with so much sauce the buns were completely drenched in it when I unwrapped it. Also, the buns dont seem to taste the same as they used to , they seem more rubbery now and less like fresh baked bread.

I also have been eatting at Richards for over 40 years, since I was a child. The whole family loved the steak sandwich. I left Hamilton 40 years ago, but make it my first stop with every visit. I always buy 10-15 packaged with onions and pickles separately to make the trip back home. NOT anymore. My most recent visit (06/2014) was a great disappointment. The sandwich is now $5.85 and is about three inches shorter, the onions are less and you only get two pickles. I can accept change when it is for good, but this change is just padding the stores pocket. I will not be back. A family tradition has died.

Richards is a Hamilton treasure. Located on Main St. this place is a must for those who like pizza/steak/food. The inside of the restaurant is vintage and a makes you feel like youve been sent back in time. Everything that I have ordered from Richards I have liked. The best part of all their foods in my opinion is the bread/crust. It has to be made in house- and if it isnt tell me where to buy it ASAP. Definitely a place to sit down/grab with the family or if youre feeling like I do somedays- order a 13 pizza for yourself and feel better about your life.

Ive worked in Hamilton for 3 years now and always heard locals RAVE about the steak sandwiches, so I finally headed over and tried one. "Steak" is not what I received. The meat tastes and looks an awful lot like a McDouble from McDonalds. So...processed hamburger? Overall it was tasty, but not what I was expecting and a bit mediocre. I think if you grew up eating it, then it would have sentimental value. If not, give it a pass. Restaurant was clean, service was friendly, and my husband enjoyed his calzone. Try something else in the menu.

My family has been eating Richards for a long time. I recommend the steak hoagies. I get the steak sandwich withe the original mushroom sauce and add cheese. My wife loves getting just cheese and pizza sauce on hers. Sometimes the quality of the sandwich does vary from time to time. Their Pizza is also a good option! One thing I have noticed over the years at this location is the lack of customer service and enthusiasm from the staff. At busy times I find myself waiting in long lines when Im picking up my order too.

The steak sandwiches are to die for! I tried the pizza for the first time - the crust was very fresh and is made daily. Very good but did not have the distinctive taste you would find at Marions or Chesters. In ordered mine with double cheese - definitely got my moneys worth! I would order another type of pizza because obviously there is something I am missing about their pizza. Theyve been in business since the mid 50s and still locally owned and operated. That says something!

We have eaten here a couple of times. The pizza we got there was very disapointing because everyone in Hamilton talks this place up as being a "Hamilton Landmark". Please- its just not all its cracked up to be. Ill put Pizza Chef up against Richards any day of the week- Pizza Chefs pizza is way better and their steak sandwiches at Pizza Chef can hold their own against Richards vaunted steak sandwiches too!

I heard Bob Hope used to have steak sandwiches shipped from here to California, and laughed. But these sandwiches are legit. The minimum order for shipping is impressive, as is the amount of grease on each sandwich, but they are fantastic. If youre in the area, you need to make the time to have one of these Sandwiches.

The best steak sandwiches anywhere ever! Just dont get the Spaghetti cassarole. I got one and was horribly dissappointed. I even thought it wasnt made right, it was so bad but was told by the manager it was correct, unfortunately. Best Spaghetti dinner in this world....Angilos! Its absolutely divine!!!!!!

Richards was a total surprise in all the right ways. Had the famous steak sandwich with banana peppers and pizza sauce. Steak is flat, Salisbury consistency; so old school it made my heart happy. Didnt try pizza but it must be good. Bravo, Richards!
