This is traditional Chinese food. It is not the sodium infested crap that most Americans know as Chinese food. Hence why other reviewers are calling it bland. The sauces are homemade, and I found them full of flavor. The atmosphere is really nice and the prices are very agreeable. I ordered General Tsos Chicken and I was asked how hot I wanted the sauce on a scale of 1-10. I chose 8 and it turned out perfect. They sprinkle the dish with almonds which added to the overall texture and flavor. This was the best General Tsos sauce Ive ever had. It even mixed well with the vegetables. I also had their Beef Lo Mein. They cut the meat perfectly, so it was easy to pick up with chopsticks (and forks). The noodles and the meat were prepared with enough sauce so they would not dry out. I hate dry Lo Mein and a lot of places are too cheap to care, so I was impressed. I would definitely order this again. The best part was that I left this place and did not feel sick from eating too much sodium. The water I ordered was clean and so were the dishes. Its a really nice place. I started the evening looking for some average Chinese food, and wound up finding a new favorite. This place deserves a higher rating.

Went here with my fiance and her brother, I ordered the bourbon chicken and a diet coke. The food took way to long for how few people were dining. And when it finally came it was cold. I had finished my diet coke before my food came out and i sat there the rest of the time with an empty glass despite asking the server for a refill. So on to the food. My bourbon chicken didnt even taste like bourbon chicken. It was disgusting. It was like they took the bourbon sauce and added 5 lbs of sugar. The fried wotons was nasty as well. They were cold and somewhat soggy. My fiance ordered the wonton soup and said it was very bland. We eat Chinese food quite often and sad to say but a Chinese food take out place has much better food then this over priced high end wanna be. And I could understand if they were just having a bad day but I have given this place change after chance to wow me and all 4 times Ive eaten here I have been just completely disappointed with the food and the service. I will never eat here again. Chens Garden on State RoadId where its at. Goodbye forever Mandarin house.

Best Chinese around by far! Everything is made to order- fresh ingredients, you can get anything made to fit your special diet, if need be (leave anything out, add things in... No issues!) so much flavor and great prices - huge portions- I always take extra home and eat for several days after! Last night we got the "Thai noodle soup with chicken and veggies" - made spicy. I can only eat certain places and certain things bc I am gluten -free , dairy-free and cant have beef/pork, peanuts and some other things due some health issues. They have so many options for me including this soup- and most of the other soups on the menu. We also got the lettuce wraps- they were tangy and sweet yet crunchy and satisfying. Lastly, we got a fish dish with ginger and onion with a sweet brown glaze- it was so good and thick and juicy. We cant wait to go back and try something else! We always get something different and its always delicious and inspiring. Highly recommended !

I was having guests over and was thrilled that the Mandarin House could accommodate me with party trays of food. The egg rolls and crab Rangoon were very good. However my two main entrees were not. The shrimp dish had such a small amount of shrimp (and the shrimp was small in size too) that each guest could only have two shrimp per serving. By the time my 5th guest ( I had 12 people) was making her plate, all the shrimp was gone. The beef dish had alfalfa sprouts (?) in it that had the longest roots Ive ever seen. They were so long, it felt like you had hair in your mouth. It was awful! Im sorry but I would not recommend this restaurant and Im never going back.

This place has amazing vegetarian hot and sour soup! Best in town in my opinion. As for the egg foo young.. a little blande. Also who ever answers the phone (its always the same lady for me) sounds soo bored. The presentation of the food when dining in is wonderful! I deffinetly wouldnt call it the hippest place though. I think a lot of the regularsv have been going for a very very long time. But I guess that should tell you something.

This place sucks!! We ordered 2 general tsos combo meals and it was $20. They barely gave us any food and the box of chicken was mostly filled up with green peppers, onions, and these weird nuts. One tiny box of rice between both combo meals. And all of the food was NASTY. We just had to throw most of it out; what a waste. I am highly disappointed with this place. I will definitely not be going back. Dont bother with this crap-hole.

Homemade duck sauce/ sweet and sour sauce... whatever you call it, its homemade here. So good! Its what brings me back again and again. Not to mention the fried rice is perfect here. Just the right rice with a perfect amount of the wok flavor. Highly recommend! Youll be surprised how reasonable the prices are too. Make sure you get the homemade duck sauce not the packets.

I can always count on my food being fresh and flavorful. I have tried other places closer to home and a little less expensive but they havent come close to matching my experience at Mandarin House. I order take-out for the most part but have enjoyed the beautiful dining room as well. They also have outdoor seating in the warmer months.

REALLY nice looking restaurant on the inside, but they dont do take out well. My coworker and I ordered two combo meals on our way to work. We only got one rice and no silverware. Make sure you check your bag contains your order. The spring rolls were GREAT, but the tsos chicken was mushy.

The chicken and green beans entree is out of this world. I have never been able to have another Chinese restaurant duplicate it, even in New York City. The special sauce makes the dish!

We found hair in one of our meals, which they comped. We got home, and found another hair in my daughters leftovers. Food was very bland and overpriced. Will not go again.

This is the restaurant where I learned that I DID like Chinese food after all. Thirty years and one new building later, I am still enjoying the menu at Mandarin House.

The food was okay. Wasnt quite flavorful. The restaurant looks nice but there was a weird stuffy smell when I visited. The server was nice and courteous.

Nice atmosphere, but didnt seem very authentic to me. The mood in the place is very calm and the food was pretty good too.
