Daaaaamn, SOHO, where have you been all my life? A family friend told me they have the best chicken & waffles in town, but Id just never made it over to try them. On our six-month marker, my boyfriend surprised me with dinner here; because it was a Tuesday night, we were seated quickly, & though there were a few other tables filled, the ambiance was generally quiet & low-key. We split the Jalapeno hushpuppies served with "comeback sauce," which our served described as "Probably a mix of mayo & ketchup?" It was better than it sounds, I promise, & the hushpuppies were perfect - lightly spicy, very crispy, & not too dry, like hushpuppies sometimes are. We were also served a few pieces of fresh, hot bread with house-made seasoned butter & some kind of jam (I forget what kind) that I wouldve eaten with a spoon if it were an option. Needless to say, we were carbed-up & happy by the time our meals arrived, but wed left plenty of room for dinner. And good thing! My boyfriend ordered his fried chicken "evenin style," served with mashed potatoes, braised collards, & sausage gravy; I,. of course, ordered mine "mornin style," with a rosemary waffle & Ohio maple syrup. The other option, which Id love to try, is "late-night style," with pulled pork mac n cheese, & smoked cherry bbq sauce. I KNOW, RIGHT? Theyre all served with boneless chicken - a breast & a thigh. I dont like dark meat, & getting it with all-white meat wasnt an option, so my boyfriend & I swapped - all-white for me, all-dark for him. A good trade, but I wish I couldve just ordered it the way I wanted it. That said, everything was delicious. The waffle was hot & soft, & the chicken was perfectly done, with the crispy coating so fresh that it was sliding off of the meat. I was too full to eat all of it, but I took one of the breasts home for leftovers the next day. Just as good afterward! SOHO has a number of interesting-sounding items on their menu that Id love to go back to try - but honestly, the mornin-style chicken was so tasty that I dont know if I could bring myself to order anything else! Minus one star for the very slow service, because only one server seemed to be working that night, & she was also playing hostess - crazy! Though she was very friendly & accomodating, the fact that she was flying solo meant the service was understandably under par. Id still go back, but I hope they dont make a habit of being so understaffed.

SOHO is a great place to go if youre looking for fried chicken without the fast-food grease. They offer different versions of their boneless, skinless chicken breasts such as Mornin style (chicken/waffles), Evenin style (collard greens, gravy, mashed potatoes), Nooner (ham, lettuce, avocado, cheese, etc), Late Night Style (smoked gouda mac ncheese, cherry bbq sauce. My favorite was the Mornin style which was waffles with a hint of rosemary notes with smooth sweet ohio maple syrup. I really think this a magical combination of sweet and savory. Ive also tried the Late Night Style - the mac & cheese looked great but was kind of griddy and not much of a sweet nor tangy flavor, kinda bland. The cherry bbq sauce that accompanies this chicken though is wonderfully different. Its more sweet than spice but its delightful. I have not tried their desserts yet (so much food!) but I hear the beignets are the best outside New Orleans. If this is your first time, try it on a Wednesday! Normally their signature dishes are $17 but on Wednesday its the night where you pay per piece of chicken (wing $1.50, drumstick $2.50, thigh $3.50, boneless breast $4.50), and a la carte sides for $3.50 each. In terms of service, the wait staff seem to be neutral (not uber friendly or uber rude), and I like that they offer biscuits with homemade herb butter and jam.

Very unpleasant. The syrup indeed is "bourbon spiked." A reference to liquor in food typically means it is cooked with the alcohol (thus removing the alcohol). The person in AA in our group was not pleased when he ate the syrup. And we were all shocked when the waitress refused to apologize but said, "Well, read the menu." And the person delivering drinks said, "We got you, didnt we, haha?" Not cool when youre dealing with somebodys sobriety. I have heard, but dont know for sure, that serving that type of syrup has to be restricted to persons 21 years and older. Is this a violation of Ohio liquor laws too? Oh, and now when I look at my credit card bill, 15% grat was added anyway. A simple apology could have sure saved a lot of grief. So much for "southern hospitality." This is a very immature business that isnt worth your time.

Almost everything on the menu had something I wouldnt want to eat with what is presented. The server brought us three dishes we didnt order. The first time she brought us two apitizers that we thought were compimentary because we didnt order them, and we were eating the apitizers when she realized they werent for us and she took them from the table. Then, we ordered that apitizer and when we were done, she brought us complementary rolls. Had we known we were going to recieve rolls, we wouldnt have ordered apitizers. The food I ordered was pretty bad, and i had an upset stomach for the rest of the night. On the bright side, the atmosphere was excellent. SOHO.........no go

SOHO Kitchen & Bar in Cleveland is one of the best places Ive eaten, where they specialize in recreating and one-upping traditional southern cuisine. SOHO took fried chicken to a whole new level, of which I never knew existed on this amazing, finite planet of ours. Seriously, their fried chicken is out of the world awesome; and their other dishes are fanciful interpretations that are also must tries. The only downfall is that I will always be searching for that taste, and unless I dine at SOHO again, I may never find anything comparable again. The modern stylings complement the bar with its wide-ranged menu. Needless to say, I cant wait to go back.

The owner and the staff are very rude here. We were at Mitchells Ice Cream next door, on their patio, and we witnessed a group of chain smokers on the patio of SOHO Kitchen & Bar as they repeatedly tossed their cigarette buts out onto the walkway. Some buts even landed on Mitchells property where families were enjoying ice cream with their children. To make matters worse, when I went to talk to this group, I found out that one of them happened to be the owner and he suggested that he can get a broom for me to clean the buts up. I am deeply troubled by crass behavior and the unprofessional environment of this restaurant.

Came here with a party of 6 this past weekend. Had to call in and change my reservation and they were happy to assist. First off the atmosphere is perfect. Its dim candle lighting that gives it a very relaxed feeling. The drinks there are outstanding. You definitely get what you pay for. I would recommend the Coral Gables. The only thing I would have changed was the portion on our appitizer. We ordered pigs in a blanket and fried green tomatoes... not very much on the plate but very good. Our entrees were perfect size and came very quickly. We had great service and I would most definitely tell anyone to visit here.
