The Primanti Brothers of NE Ohio. I went to Melt on a Monday night around 5pm and ordered "The Dude Abides": a colossal of goodness. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. We accidentally forgot to tell her that one of us is allergic to pepper and when our food arrived saturated with pepper and shared the news she replaced the sandwich with the kindest attitude. Service like makes me want to return. The whole restaurant feel, from the seats to the seating to the decor made me feel like I was in a fancy fast food place. The vibe is fun and energetic. As for the sandwich, the basil marinara sauce is savory and sweet. The mozzarella wedges and meatballs were unlikely but very agreeable companions. The bread held most of the items between the slices (Melt loads it on); they did a super job. There are so many sandwiches to choose from on the menu, but I think I pick I picked the best one.

This place is amazing. If you go towards the weekend and or around dinner time expect for a wait. But it is well worth it, trust me. Everything is awesome from the appetizers, to the specialty drinks, all the amazing beers on tap and in bottles and the sandwiches, dont even get me started on the sandwiches. I have so many favorites Ive stopped picking a favorite one. Also if you saved room for dessert the bread pudding isnt like any bread pudding you had before. I dont know your grandmother, but Melts bread pudding will put your Nanas to shame. Like I said expect a wait if you go around dinner time expecially on the weekends. Grab a drink at the bar, enjoy the pictures and art work. Hell, if you can find an open barstool eat at the bar, it is full service. Melt Bar and Grill is definitely worth the wait. Grilled cheese will never be the same.

went once after officiating a wedding for some friends. now let me tell you I love the melt in independence. I mean love it. been many times for some fantastic food late at night. well lunch time at this location was a major disappointment. we waited over 20 min to get a seat (busy good for them) than service was slow.... it was lunch time, do they think no one works around here? the acoustics is horrible in here, I had to basically yell to have a conversation with my friends the entire time, get some sound deadening or something. food... well you cant go wrong. simply perfect gut busting enjoyment. drinks were cold, food was hot. but the time we spent there was so upsetting. pick up the pace. 2 stars only because food is that good. I always enjoyed my experiences at Melts in the Cleveland area, but Akron cannot compare. I went during happy hour and only after I order their tofu buffalo wings--right of of the happy hour menu-- I was informed that vegetarian and vegan options arent eligible for happy hour. In Cleveland vegetarians and vegans receive the same service as their meat-eating counter parts. The Akron manager admitted it was their mistake for printing the menus with the atrix denoting vegan/vegetarian options available, but would not honor the happy hour deal on my bill. NEVER going back here. Bad service and dirty plates. Cleveland locations are ACTUALLY vegetarian and vegan friendly.

We waited a long time to come to this restaurant because its been packed with lines out the door since opening.... well it was not worth the wait. Its gonna be a one and done for me. The place is set up like a cheap cafeteria and obnoxiously loud because of close seating arrangements. Everything I came in contact with was slight greasy including my chair, napkin holder, ketchup dispenser..etc. I ate soup appetizer and a sandwich and quite frankly I feel like Im 400 lbs already. This place is the epitome of why America is the fattest country in the world. I will not come back. The cocktails are the only upside

I went for dinner with my sister. We each ordered a sandwich. One was a big popper with vegan bacon. When it arrived, it had fried tofu instead so we asked to have it corrected. 30 mins later, we were given a new sandwich. This time, the cheese wasnt even melted as it was still cold. So again, we informed the waitress. She told us the manager would remove it from the bill and offered to remake it in a to go box. We accepted the offer, waited another 20 minutes and finally got the sandwich and the bill. They left the cold, unmelted sandwich on the bill.

The first time I visited melt, my sandwich was disgusting. My brother told me they are normally good, so I decided to give the place a second chance. I visited again, months later for a speciality sandwich they had advertised called the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. I drove all the way from pittsburgh, and they told me they ran out of supplies for that sandwich. And they still had they sandwich advertised as being available for 2 more days. I am thoroughly disappointed and will never return. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Will not eat here again. High prices, greasy unhealthy menu choices, fries tasted like they had been sitting all day and reheated. I got the firecracker chicken sandwich and it was so bitter tasting with hot sauce and chili powder it was inedible (and I love spicy food). Atmosphere and service were as bad as the food. Extremely loud concrete floors with hard chairs, only saw tables (no booths?). One waiter trying to wait on half the restaurant. Extremely disappointing!

If you are going to serve a heart attack on a plate at least have the courtesy to make it taste good. mac and cheese is better from a kraft box, tasted like cardboard and came cold. Grilled cheese was mediocre, even sub-par considering thats the specialty. Ordered the Big Popper and it was pretty much just two pieces of Texas toast with cream cheese slathered in. Would not recommend. Ordered to go and didnt even include napkins or silverware.

Worst service Ive ever had at a Melt. Im from Columbus and have had good experiences at both Melts in Central Ohio. Here we waited 45 minutes for our food and another 20 for our bill. When I used the restroom after our meal I had to wait for a stall because there was a waitress sitting in a stall playing with her phone. Im in Akron several times a year and I will not be returning to this restaurant whenever Im here for a visit.

Absurd portion sizes are the only reason I cant 5 star this. The food is really good but some of the sandwiches such as their chicken and waffle sandwich, are just over the top and overly complex. You dont need to wrap bread around chicken and a waffle. That sandwich is a monster before you add bread to it. Didnt quite get what they thought they were accomplishing with this particular creation.

This restaurant has very unique decor choices which makes it cool and different from others. The grilled cheese sandwiches are HUGE and so delicious. My favorite is the wake and bacon with the garlic tomato soup its delicious! It gets pretty busy here so you have to come at the right time. The employees have always been very nice and quick. Definitely recommend!
