I eat here every Monday for the meatloaf special. They have great specials other days as well, along with amazing burgers and hotdogs. The service is great and if you become a regular, they treat you like family... complete with a bit of good natured teasing. Breakfast is also fantastic! The chef/owner is a master of the grill and his wife is the waitress who is an artist with the verbal abuse, just enough you feel at home, but not so it steps over the line so youre offended. Love Larry and Amy and think everyone should check out this traditional diner in downtown Smithfield.

I found this place by accident while I was hungry and looking for another restaurant after filling my car with gas on a trip from Richmond,VA to Fayetteville,NC or vice versa. I have never been so glad that I did not find the place I was looking for because the food was unique and original like homemade and the service was so good here. This cozy place is still my stop and get my grub on spot while traveling. I only wish that they were open on the weekend.

My husband and I had the chicken and biscuits special and it was heavenly! There were little bits of sharp cheese in the gravy, a recipe variation I had never tasted. The portions were so large (and reasonably priced) that I couldnt finish the side dish of homemade fries so I took them home along with homemade apple dumplings for later. I cant wait to go back.

I stumbled across this diner as I was driving through town and decided to stop not really knowing what to expect. Everything I had was phenomenal. The patty melt was filling and cooked right in from of me, the sweet potato fries were crispy, and the grilled mushrooms were very flavorful. No wonder I saw so many regulars walk in there, they are doing it right.

Been too many diners in NC, SC, GA, TN, KY. This place is a stand out for sure. The food is on point. Best grits I ever had while on the road. Only moms grits could compete against these. Thanks for the great food and service. Support local whenever you can, skip cracker barrel and get real food at The Diner.

Eat here! Skip the fast food/chain resturant and have some a GOOD home-cooked meal at a fair price. Stopped here for breakfast while I was out photographing the country side....had 2 fried eggs, country ham and grits. Cleaned mah plate. Yes maam! Nuff said.

Food wasnt all that good to me. Servers were good but the cook had a bad attitude and had a bad habit of grasping and holding peoples food with barely washed hands which he took but 5 seconds to wash. It was way to pricey for the quality and service.
