Just across the parking lot from my hotel (Candlewood Suites) so I decided to try it. Absolutely wonderful cheeseburger and fries. You could tell the leaf lettuce, onions and tomato were freshly cut. The hamburger was good quality meat and grilled with that crisp-edged technique that I love. The iced tea is brewed perfectly -- not pale and thin but with the correct strength and color and plenty of clear ice. Lemons were freshly cut. Also enjoyed the typical "diner feel" with the red and white cushioned seats at the bar and booths. Nice bunch of folks working there, very friendly and efficient, and great eating neighbors -- listened to four local church ladies discuss their choir plans and goings on. Will eat here again for breakfast tomorrow and every time I pass through when I travel.

A retro dinner layout focusing on burgers, hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream, shakes, big fries, philly cheese steak, classic BL, Reuben, and banana splits. You seat yourself. They also serve breakfast all day. Not a huge menu but enough. Locally owned with the dacor of polished chain. I got a chef salad and it was good size for a fare price. My salad was $7.99. Staff service is fine and fun environment. Chrome, neon and classic ads with 50ies/60ies/70ies motown music, "Ill be there" is playing right now by the Four Tops followed by early Jackson 5. I broke down and had hot cherry pie with vanilla ice cream on top and it was great.

Grilled chicken strips were dry and had the taste of being cooked on a grill that needed cleaning. It was afree 9 pm so Im sure it needed it. Green beans came out of a can and the roll was cold. I couldve got better ones at the grocery store. Mashed potatoes were fine but nothing to brag about. There were 3 different waitresses trying to figure out how to deck scrub the floor. All that was being done was making a big soapy mess and none of it was ever cleaned up while we were there. Wont be back. Highway 55 is a much better restaurant and way friendlier anyway.

What a wonderful find! Was on my way to Florida and was starving and came across this place. The ambiance was really interesting, but the food was really delicious as well. I usually love roadside diners, but this one was a pleasant surprise and much more enjoyable experience than most. It was such an original idea to make a diner that embodies America "on the road", at least that was the feeling I got. Im a big fan of bric-a-brac and memorabilia, so of course I was fascinated by all the cool posters that adorned the walls as I ate.

There is almost something too nice about this place to satisfy my diner cravings, but the food is great. After a couple of visits (both breakfast and dinner), I started planning my trips around a stop in Rocky Mount. I stop in for breakfast even though I can get a free breakfast at the hotel....that should tell you something. Even when it gets crowded, the service is fast and friendly. Anything breakfast is good, anytime. Straight up, this is good food, good service, and good value......what more could you want?

Our wait was long, as they were packed on a Saturday at 10:30am so we finally asked to be seated outside. Glad we did, our server was happy, friendly and fantastic. Our food was wonderful! Omelettes, biscuits and gravy, fried green tomatoes, French toast, grits...all the best we ever had! Wasnt super clean, waited awhile for food and table but service and food made us glad we stopped! FYI: hotel next door, Candle Suite Inn was terrible. Very dirty rooms and staff was rude.

The location is great if you are visiting the Nash Hospital or Boice Willis Clinics. The food is average and the price is good. The place could use a good cleaning as the chair legs, window sills and floor were somewhat greasy. I had to wait a very long time for someone to come and give me a menu when I first got there. Then after that they were slow to offer coffee refills, but the food came quickly and was good.

The food was good and reasonably priced. The location is good for roadtrips (easily accessible and easy to find). Staff is very friendly. The wait for the food wasnt bad, but it wasnt very busy so I dont know how it is packed. I recommend it, 4 stars because it wasnt the best, super restaurant but it was still a friendly diner. Wouldve been an average 3, but the friendliness of the staff brought it up to 4

Food was OK hope you like your toast burnt. Sent back twice still burnt but I was finished eating by that time. Food came to the table very random and waitress had to be reminded about half of our order. Also breakfast is advertised as served all day but hope your not looking to get any biscuits after 11:30. I am a local resident to the area and have about given up on this place
