It was below the one star. We could not get wait on. The female hostess would only wait volunteer. On male customers. We had to ask her to wait on us. She not talk to us. Put the menu on the table.and left. Many choices to eat. And the prices are moderate. The waitress would refuse not to write down the menu. We told her on a time limit. And the wrong order can delay us. She gave good service to other tables. There were more people at the tables. She rushed to get rid of us,talk back rude, yell and interrupt us, walk away from us while talking to her. And had to ask her to complete taking the order. She not want to volunteer to come back to see if need anything more. We had to ask her to come back.. When we saw her. The salads we had nothing special. Had better ones elsewhere. The prices are average. Waitress got angry not a tip. And the restaurant not busy.

All the negative reviews are correct: THIS PLACE SUCKS! It has so much potential but the 2 or 3 times I tried it with my wife, I realized that its consistently: overpriced food which is sometimes just ok and sometimes awful, never more than mediocre staff, ridiculously overpriced retail store with extremely cheesy/cheap items for sale, and smug hosts who definitely treat you poorly if you are wearing tshirt/shorts or tshirt/jeans. This aint some trendy NY cafe people! Youre in a crappy and failing strip mall with a K-Mart, a Revco, and a great bug ole empty space where Borders used to be. If youre hungry, youre better off going to Miltons (few doors down) or Whole Foods (across the street). I dont know why (or how) theyre still in business.

Ive been to Zest three times over the past year and every time, the servers have been so rude. When my friend and I considered going there for lunch this past week, we said, "I like the food, but I hate the service," but went anyways. The waitress gave us our check before we even started our meals and, as we looked around, we realized no one else had been given their checks. When I went home, I got food poisoning from the salad I ate.

Well my wife and I love this place. The food is always excellent and the service is great as well. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the shop is over priced but who cares. We go for the food. I think Google should delete reviews over two years old. Do you make investment decisions on 2 year old info? Going there tonight. Looking forward to some short ribs and a glass Vino. Bon Appetit.

The menu is definitely not standard fare, and may seem "fru fru", but give it a shot. Ive never had a dish there that wasnt excellent. Everything has been very tasty... nothing bland or boring, and the portions are plenty. The dining room is small, but if you have to get on the waiting list, there are tons of interesting and unique gift items to browse through while you wait.

Walked in waited for a couple of minutes, no one came to the front. I was like, OK, there must be an emergency. Came back 1/2 hr later, someone was there, as was another customer, but still never greeted either of us. I left. The little store is NOT good and is very over-priced. Not sure why this says its "vegan-friendly"... I expect much more than what they had to offer.

nestled among shops in a strip mall hasnt stopped this restaurant and gift shop from shining. their hoisin braised short rib panini with caramelized onion, provolone cheese and tomato cruda on house flatbread with a side of sweet and spicy steak sauce is mouth watering. i love this place. one of the few restaurants in town who know how to serve hot tea properly.

I have been in Raleigh for 18 years and for as long as I can remember I have been stopping by there for the wonderful nutritious food. It is very healthy food. The chef is the one that stands out. The food is prepared perfectly nutritionally and tastefully. I have never had a problem with the service but really its all about the food and they deliver

We love Zest for the creative salads and healthy choices. My personal favorite item is the cashew crusted chicken. YUM! I find the meal to be a reasonable portion and always filling! The art and decor available for purchase are located in the same space. I find the decor and art a bit pricey, but fun to look around.

We have been going to Zest for several years. The food is always great. The people that work there always treat us well. The little shop is great to browse while waiting for your wife. Also, buy a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie on the way out. Big enough to share between two.

We went to Zest for lunch two days ago and were seated outside. The waitress brought us water and we sat for at least another 10 minutes without her returning to take our order. We left and ate at Shish Kabob around the corner - fast service and excellent lamb gyro!

Lah-dee-dah... $12.95 for a cucumber sandwich with bean sprouts... lah-dee-dah. Oooh, so fancy, so feminine, but they wont let you save a seat for a friend. Overpriced, but ladies like it b/c they have cucumber-like sandwiches and is lah-dee-day. I wont be back.

Zest has a very unique atmosphere. Its part shop and dinner. The food is always good and so is the atmosphere. If you get a chance stop in. Its not the fastest place in town, but thats not what theyre known for. So come by and stay for a while.

I love their soups and salads! Their salads are tasty and an easy quick pick up option on my way home from work. The place is charming, the staff are friendly- and did I mention the boutique shopping area? Zest is a real gem in North Raleigh!

Finally tried the Huevos Rancheros and Im glad I did. I have a love/hate relationship with the dish normally, but Zest delivered the goods. Got there early on a Sunday, we didnt have to wait for a table and it was a great meal.

I enjoyed browsing the adorable shop filled with home decor and boutique items before I sat down to a delicious, unique meal. I had the chicken quesadilla filled with sweet potato and a side of black beans and salad. Delightful!

The menu is great, the food is great, and its a cute place. I dont think you get what you pay for, though. And the store is just claustrophobic w/ products; I feel like I cant move without potentially knocking something over.

Great local cafe and gift shop. The smallish cafe has unique and well prepared flatbread, sand which, and entree choices that include vegetarian selection also. My wife likes to browse in the gift shop.

A fun place to shop and eat. The food is great and I can always find a little gift for whatever celebration is coming up for my sister, or aunt, or wife, or whoever is next in line for gifts.
