Not to offend anyone, but I feel like MOST reviews are written by friends and family!! Here is my experience: we went to this place after reading all these reviews.. almost 5* out of 5, wow! I was expecting delicious BBQ everything! When we first walked in ... the place is very simple, you order your meal like in a fast food place , and the girls bring it to you. When we asked for recommendation , the girl said everything is great ( NOT REALLY)...yeah, thanks for recommendation. We decided to try a few items. BBQ pork, chicken, and fish ( I should have know better to order fish at BBQ place! But the girl said its really good), we also got few sides: cole slaw, fries, mac n cheese, hash puppies, and potato salad. CHICKEN was GREAT! So flavorful and juicy, definitely one of the best weve ever tried. PORK was ok... a bit dry, and had to be mixed with sauces to make it more juicy, Ive had much better (Luellas in Asheville has the best pulled pork!!). FISH was horrible! SO fried, so dry. My fault for ordering fish at bbq joint, but I was curious... Big fail, dont say "everything is great" when You KNOW ,and you MUST know the fish is bad. SIDES: all 4 sides were very good, including hush puppies. My verdict: If you are going , dont expect great atmosphere and ONLY order chicken with whatever sides. I would give pork another chance but NEVER EVER EVER get the fish!

I didnt even get to try the food! We drove 4 hours to try the food and they are closed for a party for a half an hour. Not only is that unprofessional but its pretty bad for business because my one bad review is going to go a lot further than someones good review. I find it very difficult to close for a half an hour to have a party and then reopen. Im sitting here in my car watching people come in and out. Open for business until 9 means that you are open for business until 9! The doors unlocked the lights are on the staff is there!

I ordered my small pork plate with fries and coleslaw, probably the most common combination. Everything was very good but not dazzling. The atmosphere is small town friendly with a "lets put some stuff on the walls and call it done" look. The entire staff on my weekday evening visit were late-teens girls who were friendly but uninterested. Overall, its among the best choices in this small town with limited options, certainly not upscale dining, but a good value and reasonably well prepared food.

Carolina bar be que is the best around and Im not just saying that because I work here! We have great employees who really care about the costomer! Friday nights are a blast! If you like to dance you need to be here on this night! we always have live music mostly bluegrass and I will be your server!!! Come on down join us!

The eight of us arrived just as the Sunday church rush was in full swing. All the same, we received our food in record time, and it was delicious. Good barbeque, friendly service, comfortable, down-home atmosphere. Would like to come by some evening when a band is playing!

Ordered a large BBQ plate, a small was brought out to me, the staff acted as though it was no big deal. My father-in-law ordered fish, that was not only the worst he had ever eaten, everyone in our church group (14 of us) had finished eating before he received his meal.

The smoked chicken was incredible! We loved the pulled pork, potato salad and green beans. Selection of sauces was balanced. The only negative was the mac and cheese...a little too loose but the seasoning was good. Definitely worth the drive of the beaten path!

A pleasant surprise beneath Grandfather Mountain. Enjoyed the pulled pork, fried okra, and the slaw (although I normally skip Cole slaw). Had a hard time deciding between the thick Sweet sauce, the thin Lexington Apple vinegar sauce, and the Mad Dog sauce.

This is the best BBQ in Watauga and Avery Counties! Meat that is smoked very well and tangy tomato based sauces along with cool slaw and hot hushpuppies make a great meal. Forget about Pappys and Woodlands - this is the real deal!

Delicious! BBQ had great flavor but was a Lil dry. The sides were amazing (Mac and cheese, slaw, potato salad) authentic country restaurant including bluegrass band on Friday and Saturday nights. Dont miss out!

Great barbecue and hospitality! I was picking up some great food and the woman at the window complimented my dogs and gave them each a juicy bone from the mornings pig. Their fried chicken is the real deal!

Really great beans. Mad dog and Lexington sauce are tasty. Great atmosphere- Doug Gragg and the Distant Gold Band were playing with an electric bass, drum, keys, fiddle, and a mandolin. Not too shabby

Experience was not good. Couldnt get the order right. We watched a young waitress going around asking customers what their order was after they had given it. Was not pleased ar all.

Passed by as we were leaving grandfather mountain getting ready for the drive back to Miami. Glad we stopped. Food was delish! BBQ sauce is AMAZING! Definitely worth the stop!

Ive had great food here and also bad food. I once ordered the BBQ chicken and it was freezing in the center, meaning they were microwaving my food - which to me is disgusting.
