I was an admirer of – albeit an infrequent visitor to – Josephine’s, the upscale eatery that used to occupy this space. When Josephine’s owners rebooted the establishment as a breakfast/lunch concept last year, I was skeptical that a restaurant on Spring Garden that closed at 3 p.m. would be able to stay afloat. If my first visit was any indication, my skepticism was misplaced. To say that Scrambled does brisk breakfast business is a massive understatement. The compact confines fill quickly, and if lunch is anywhere close, there is no reason to worry about Scrambled going under any time soon. One look at the menu, and you’ll understand the bustle. From burritos and benedicts to pancakes and waffles, Scrambled covers many morning favorites. Come past 11 a.m. and you can also take in a sandwich or the daily blue plate special. On versatility alone, however, the breakfast scrambles are the real stars: two eggs scrambled, over easy or in an omelet with grits or hash browns, toast or a biscuit, and a bevy of creative toppings all served in an apropos cast iron skillet. For my first visit, I went with the Mariner (crab, lobster, spinach, tomato, scallions, and sherry fondue) while my fiancée tried the Green Eggs and Ham (chorizo, scallions, queso fresco, salsa verde, chile lime crema). Both dishes were generously portioned, colorfully plated, and tasted every bit as good as they looked. The Mariner’s rich, creamy sauce, combined with bites of seafood, called to mind a good lobster bisque while the Green Eggs and Ham had a nice, spicy kick. Biscuits came with a choice of very good housemade jams. The hash browns were rather salty, but they added a great crunch to my skillet. Given the high volume of patronage, service was surprisingly warm and attentive. There is definitely a more relaxed vibe here than when this place was Josephine’s, but a few constants remain. For starters, the décor (maroon walls and lots of overhead ductwork) remains unappealing. You’ll also continue to pay a pretty penny for eating here. My scramble ran $13.30, a lot to spend on a breakfast dish, but not unreasonable given the ingredients and honestly worth every cent. In all fairness, most of the other scrambles and several of the lunch offerings are in the $10 to $11 range. Against expectations, Scrambled successfully combines the friendly boisterousness of a Southern diner with the high-level execution of the space’s previous concept. Don’t let the appellation “brunch spot” drive you away: there is something here to please just about everyone.

I have heard how great the food is here so I finally went to check it out. Mistake. When my food came out there were a few problems. Grits are good by themselves and cheese Grits are good too but putting so much cheese on the grits (not mentioned BTW on the menu) that its half cheese and half grits is ridiculous. The worst part was the egg whites were raw, not even close to done. So I sit there obviously not touching my food and the waitress walked by 7 times before asking if everything was ok. I point out the eggs and her response was a condescending "you ordered them over-medium." She takes the plate to the back but after being annoyed it took so long, then the condescending comment I just left. Definitely not worth the money or the drive.

Scrambled is a great destination for breakfast or lunch. Come and prepare yourself to be amazed! The staff is great and the food is always even better. They are a favorite place of mine! I was in the mood for Chicken and Waffles during my last visit. It isnt a regular menu item, but I was able to order waffles with a side of chicken and a side of egg. Just look at my picture (with the other images)... The presentation was spectacular and the taste was so good, I suggested that they make it a regular item!

I was looking for a different place to eat breakfast, other than the typical places, and I ran across this one online. After looking at the good reviews and high ratings, I was convinced to give it a try. As a result, I have to say this a pretty good place to eat and enjoy breakfast or brunch. The atmosphere is nice (upbeat music), food is delicious (get a good amount of portions), and the staff are friendly & attentive. I recommend any and everyone to dine in here, one wouldnt be disappointed.

This place is great! I was there on Sunday morning at 9 and I was worried there would be a long wait, but surprisingly we only had to wait a mere 10 minutes for the two of us. I ordered "one huge pancake" and they werent exaggerating. It was delicious. I also ordered a side of cheddar grits and bacon. The bacon was good and the grits were top notch. The amount of food I got for $9 was insane. The service was good and the atmosphere was really cool. Ill definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend.

So so so so so good. Everything is good. The mimosas and other cocktails are amazingly tasty. (Hence why my photo only shows an empty memosa glass!) No small portions either. They really know how to feed you well. Traditional tastiness with a slightly modern and local twist. Theres even a board listing current local farms and vendors being used that day. The board is by the restroom, so you have to look, but its there. Our bartender was great too!

My First visit certainly NOT MY LAST. The food was high quality, great Taste and presentation not to mention the perfect portion. Ive NEVER seen a sausage patty so big! Oh youve GOT TO try the pancake (its the size of the dinner plate). Customer service was Fantastic and our server NEVER let my coffee cup stay empty very long, I love that! I even purchased one of their coffee cups to add to my Collection. Looking forward to returning Soon!

Everything amazing, especially the Benedict Row--- an entire section of the menu devoted to variations on Eggs Benedict. They had me hooked as soon as I saw that, and any time I go with someone and sit down, thats what I get. Im fortunate enough to live nearby and I get the 5$ biscuits and gravy side all the time -- huge portion, cheap price, and that and an espresso is a great way to treat myself once every couple of weeks!

This is one of the places we bring out-of-town visitors to as an excellent representative of the great food in the area. We usually have to wait, but our guests (and we) feel it is always worth it. They have gluten free and vegetarian options, they make quite a bit of foods on site (example: fresh strawberry jelly), and the servers are always friendly and helpful. Bonus: their coffee is always hot and good

The food and staff are amazing. The ambient light and music are perfect for the environment. Pancakes are huge and portions are perfect. The wait is long because the building is small. Which also makes parking a hassle when you have to park across the street in the bad gravel parking lot. But the food and the people over shadows the negative experiences you had from before you sat down.

I got the Night Night Omelette. I was not expecting it to be served with what I can only describe as a breakfast gravy; it was very tasty, although I needed to have a mint afterwards. The place was packed, which I take as a testament to how loved the restaurant is. The bartender was incredibly friendly and quite conversational; she was half the experience! Ill definitely be back.
