Best-kept lunch secret in Durham. Their flatbreads (whose flavors and ingredients change daily) are extremely reasonably priced and generously portioned. Today I indulged in a tomato, pepper, and pecorino cheese flatbread (the veggie option, theres always a vegan option too). Grab a cookie or one of their many pastry options for desert, if youre feeling indulgent. I recommend the molasses-ginger cookie. While youre at it, why not pick up one of their fantastic breads to go with dinner? All around great bakery, with a little something extra!

Full disclosure - Im an employee. I love working at Loaf, but am sad that this site has our hours wrong and have no idea where they got the info. Today, a family from Fuquay had made a special trip and arrived at almost 4pm due to the misinformation on this site. We HATED to disappoint them. Its not the first time this has happened. Google, get yr stuff together. Loafs hours are: Sun-Mon CLOSED. Tues-Fri 7a-6p. Saturday 9a-3p right now, but may be longer soon. Hope to see you soon!

Best bakery in Durham, by far. This great little spot downtown is worth all the raves it gets. An elaborate daily selection of sweet pastries, savory pastries, cookies, and also so many varieties of fresh-baked bread. We work nearby and often stop in for a sweet treat (chocolate almond cookie! :) or a loaf of bread for dinner. Everything is very reasonably priced, especially given the quality here. Highly recommend!

Loaf is our go-to place for fresh bread in downtown Durham. Whenever we are entertaining, we always have a loaf or two from Loaf. Their menu varies from week to week, but the ham and cheese baguette is a must when they have it. Like Scratch, they can be found in their downtown store or on Saturday at at the Durham Farmers Market. Their scones are a great treat as you walk around the market.

Now, I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but their croissant was purely magical. We went in and decided to get one for the road. Best decision we made that day. Wow. Their breads were fresh and pastries looked good. But that croissant? Still cant stop thinking about it. Need to go back and try their lunch menu as well from reading these other reviews!

I rarely make it to Loaf during the week, but thankfully they bring their mouth-watering scones and freshly-baked breads over to the Durham Farmers Market each week. Everything Ive tried has been fabulous, but some show-stoppers: lemon-pistachio bread, cherry fennel bread (delicious for a turkey or chicken sandwich!, and the lemon-pear-ginger scones.

Im from out of town but follow Loafs great looking treats on Instagram. We visited family this weekend i and we got a few different flat breads that are creative mixtures of savory ingredients! We shared them for a dinner and everyone love them! Congrats on your continued success!!!

Their Market Loaf bread is a classic, great European artisan bread!!! It has a wonderful, flavor - just a little bit from the natural yeast - not quite a sour dough When we go to the Loaf, our German friends have us buy extra loaves for them. Everyone loves the flavor and crust

At Loaf not only they have genuine French products (crispy baguettes, fantastic bread, croissants, pains au chocolat cannelé and much more) but they are also VERY NICE ! it is always a great pleasure to go there. I highly recommend it !

Havent tried anything there that I havent loved (seriously...), but two of my "dont miss" favorites are the country ham and cheddar scones and the polenta bread, which makes the most AMAZING toast!

Their croissants are the real deal however make sure you pick up a loaf of bread as well (polenta and black pepper gruyere are my favs). The ham and gruyere biscuits are also a great treat.
