It honestly pains me to write this review, because I had high hopes for this bakery but they completely and utterly failed.I began planning out a military themed cake 6 weeks in advance. I corresponded with Edible Art, and showed several pictures of what I wanted. Five weeks prior to needing the cake completed, I stopped by, went over my request one last time and placed the order. The original order was under $100 (it was $95), in which case Edible Art does not require you to pay half because it isnt over $100. Moreover, I still paid half to reiterate my seriousness and appreciation for them taking on the small task of an 8 inch round military cake for a very important person & occasion. The pick up day arrived last Thursday, March 30 and I was so excited to see the cake however I had a feeling I should ask for photos prior to picking it up in case something was incorrect- therefore I went with my gut instinct, and boy am I glad I did. I called, requested photos, and shortly after received an email. I opened the e-mail and was shocked at the poor quality and what appeared to be a cake thrown together last minute. This disappointment came about due to the photos on the website, showing the ability and talent Edible Art chooses to instill in some and not all of their orders. Specifically, the huge fondant flag had 5 stripes, which looked identical to fruit roll ups. It was awful looking. Furthermore, the camouflage border was hideous. It looked like M&Ms stuck around the bottom. The cursive hand writing was not professional looking, and lastly, the cake was not even centered on the cake board. I returned to Edible Arts website, because I was honestly flabbergasted at the quality, well lack of, in my cake and KNEW for certain I had seen beautiful work on their website inclusive of an American flag I distinctly remember being exactly what I wanted. My disappointed was conveyed, civilly, via email to the two young girls who work at the bakery. I was not rude, demanding, or curt, because I knew they were not the cake decorator and it wasnt fair to them for me to lash out. I begin asking for the modifications to be made. I was at work, unable to call so I asked my mother to call on my behalf and emailed them to let them know she would convey my concerns. The modifications were made to the flag, which was one of my largest concerns but I was then told it was too late to fix the "camo" border, and was also told the girl would be leaving soon which to me, was very unprofessional considering it was apparent customer satisfaction had not been received on this order and "leaving" meant she could care less. Furthermore, we requested the Army symbol be added because the cake was so odd looking and thrown together. Then, whomever was responding on the email had the audacity to tell me it would cost an additional $15 to add the image. The image was not even fully on the cake, it looked like a faded imagine printed on a piece of paper just stuck to the side. First and foremost, Edible Art, learn the importance of customer satisfaction. Instead of charging extra, to now make this a nearly $115 cake, your bakery should have sought out to remedy the situation they created. I emphasized the importance of fulfilling my request 100%, and what I in turn received was what appeared to be a product of a beginner in fondant and cake decorating. To add insult to injury, the cake tasted horrible. It was dry, and was not enjoyed by any of the guests. You can imagine how mortified I was at this point with the experience I had with Edible Art. Additionally, it appears you all have had several complaints & issues in recent months which should be alarming to all parties involved. My order could have easily turned into repeat business, a future wedding cake, birthday cakes, etc. However, instead I would like to express my dissatisfaction and warn future buyers of this bakery. Perhaps had my order been more expensive, it would have been taken seriously. Nevertheless, Caveat Emptor.

Horrible --DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM-- Ive been ordering from Edible Art for years now -- so, it only made sense to order a cake for my husbands 40th birthday. As mentioned in other reviews, the staff were not easy to work. However, I took the time and provided very specific instructions regarding the cake--particularly, about the use of fondant. Needless to say, I did not receive anything remotely close to what I ordered. The cake was completely covered in fondant, and was very dry. When I tried to resolve this with them, it was insulting to only be offered $60 on a $400 cake that was not delivered to standard. Now, Im disputing with my bank, but Edible Art is fighting me tooth and nail instead of owning up to their mistake. Their artist decided to take the easy road and throw fondant on my cake instead of taking the time to smooth out butter cream as I requested. Of course, there is more to this -- they have lied and misrepresented the issue all along the way. So disappointing and I will NEVER be back. YOU are NOT the only game in town and I will be sure to tell anyone I can to NEVER order a cake at Edible Art...EVER.... RE: Response -- the bakery is feeding lies in their response. It was not until many days later did the owner reach out to offer me the $109 -- they only offered $60 initially. More so, why would I leave a deposit on a cake I did not intend to pay for. When I entered the store days before my event, it was to confirm my order and to ensure that NO FONDANT would be used on my cake. Part of the order confirmation was to ensure all the pricing was correct. If I were not pleased with the pricing, why would I pay the balance. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY BAKERY IN TOWN!!! Also, who would ask for a 50% discount -- thats tacky. Stop with your lies -- The owner also stated in a written letter that they NEVER had any negative reviews -- well, we know that is a lie from the Facebook and Google reviews. The owner is just trying to put this back on me instead of doing the right thing. Its OK, because word of mouth is POWERFUL. People -- DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!

I went into this bakery yesterday, having heard such great reviews about their Hillsborough St. location. I was really excited about ordering my sons first birthday cake. Tarsha, the "manager" assisted me in placing my order. She was not pleasant AT ALL. When i first got there she had me wait 10 mins and there were no other customers! Then when she came out of the back of the store... she walked by us, to opposite side of the bakery and then yelled "maam, Im ready." I informed her i had been corresponding with them via email and she said okay let me go find the emails and walked away. Not even giving me a chance to explain i had the pic of the cake and emails right in front of her, on my phone. So we were left waiting again. When she came back out, there was a line of 2 couples and a man who she just started helping without asking us to give her a moment to take care of those customers, even though there was another employee there who could take care of them! I asked her if she was going to take care of us or someone else would4 and she said she would be with us when she was done, she is the manager and its just her and one other person in the front and cake orders usually have to wait since its a busy location. We asked for a small sample of almond cake and she said they dont do cake tastings, i could buy a slice for $3 if i wanted to try it! So I did! then she gave me a price that was $40 more than what i was quoted in the email SHE sent me, so she honored the price but did not seem happy about it. There was also a rude email response with exclamation marks, after i emailed her a question about the price and sent the pic of the cake since she couldnt find the email. I responded telling her she was unprofessional and she made the experience unpleasant and i canceled my order. Would not refer this location to anyone... if u go here.. make sure Tarsha is NOT the one to help u. How she is a manager is beyond me, she knows nothing about great customer service.
