Some of you may notice a trend in my restaurant choices. I really like BBQ and I really like sushi, and Im very interested in finding the tastiest offerings of each. And I love finding them close to home. I was literally drawn to the Georgia Pig because of the smell of smoke and meat as I drove by. I wasnt able to find it initially and asked some of my friends if they knew where this purveyor of meats could be found. Apparently, it was right around the corner from Ft Lauderdale Archers and had been there forever, so we decided to pay them a visit. You could easily drive past it as I had done previously, but with guidance from my friends, made it in to the full car park. This was further reflected when we went inside, as all the tables and booths were in use. We werent the only ones looking for delicious BBQ in an old fashioned environment. We were seated soon after though and placed our orders. The staff was friendly and the food came quickly, and was amazing. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich, and other members of the crew had the pulled pork sandwiches, another had the sliced pork, and another the pulled pork platter. The sandwiches came with fries and a creamy cole slaw, and the platters additionally had crisp, buttery garlic bread. Everyone was thoroughly pleased with the delicious, huge meals. Some of us even left space for the chocolate pie, which was thick, creamy and satisfying. And we all left filled to the brim. And so were our pockets, as the meals were relatively inexpensive. We will definitely be heading there in the near future for more smoky goodness. If you plan to visit, be advised that it is a Cash Only establish, so have some bills on hand.

i had never even heard about this place until today, when google maps recommended it when i was looking up bbq places. the place is quaint, the parking is amole, and you can smell the delicious scent of meats on the pit. i ordered the bbq pork platter, which came with coleslaw, fries, and a dinner roll. the coleslaw was terrific, not too soggy, just the right texture. the fries were okay. the pork was so tender! the sauce complimented it perfectly!! i hadnt had anything that good in south florida ever. for dessert, i ordered a slice of the cherry pie. i was told that this was not one of the homemade pies, but that it was still good. being that i am a fanatic for cherry pie, i couldnt resist. the crust was a little too soft for my preferences, but it was still good. the next time i go, i will go for the coconut cream. this is a cash only establishment, so bring your duckets. the staff is very friendly and i definitely see this as a place i will be frequenting. go out of your way for this place. the food is that good.

I really like this place. Im a bbq fanatic and have always wanted to try this place. Very small, clean and cozy restaurant with tons of personality. Staff was very friendly as well. So I finally get the chance to try it out. I got a bbq platter with ribs, sliced beef and a side of cole slaw and baked beans. The sides were outstanding! I dont really like cole slaw but it was the best Ive ever had. The beans were pretty good too. The ribs, although slightly cold, were edible. Sauce was good, had a lil smoke ring, they were ok. The sliced beef was not good at all. It was smoked and had a good smoke ring but it was so tough it was like chewing jerky. Thats the only thing keeping my rating low. I do plan on returning and giving them another shot. I love smoked beef and I smoke briskets and beef ribs myself all the time so it was a major let down. My rating would be closer to a 3.5-4 probably, definetly a full on 5 if the beef had been better. I will revise my review upon returning, hoping for some juicy tender beef!

Ate at the booth inside. Got a pork and rib combo dinner with sides of fries and cole slaw. Meal also came with a large piece of toasted bread. Carolina style sauce was served on the meat. They also had 2 types of sauce at the table, one the yellow Carolina style and the other a hot Carolina vinegar sauce. Service was friendly though it did take some time to get the meal. Ribs were very good, nice bark to them. Pork was sliced and probably the best part of the meal, very flavorful and tender. Fries werent that good, but I liked the cole slaw (and I dont usually get cole slaw). Would have tried the baked beans but didnt see them on the menu, but evidently they do have them. This is good BBQ.....it is not as good as Tom Jenkins over on Federal highway despite what some people claim, but still good nonetheless. They get extra points for sauce at the table. Place is worth trying.

BEST BBQ EVER!!! One of the most historical spots in Fort Lauderdale, its been there since 1953. Used to be owned by the Anderson family but very little has changed with the new owners. Still extremely friendly staff and delicious food. Dan the pit master is one of the friendliest guys Ive ever had the pleasure of knowing and the waitress Carolina is a ball of positive energy, give her a dollar for the juke box and you will not be disappointed with what she picks for you. Dont be a rookie and make sure to order the pork deluxe or the daily special, top it off with one of the cream pies and youll be hooked for life. Dont ask for sweet sauce cause you wont find it, only the delicious golden nectar that I recommend putting on each and every bite of your sandwich. 5 stars no better BBQ in the city none even close.

There are few national icons from the golden days of the American Dream that survive as well as the Georgia Pig Pit Bar-B-Q. This place is the real deal for southern home style amazing food and service. I have been going here for 10 years personally, but they have been at it 50. Yes, 50 years! That says it all. This place has been slinging outstanding food since my parents were teenagers, and it still feels like you stopped by a family members house today. Bring cash. Because thats the way its done when your serious about good food, and supporting the PEOPLE that make the experience so enjoyable. P.S. The banana pudding Fridays...wow!

BBQ is a religion. Some you like better then others. The messages might be similar but the final products can be vastly different. Also with Q it can be different day to day. This is what makes Q so incredible. Georgia Pig is hands down (usually) one of the finest chopped pork sandwiches you can get anywhere. It is not a low country NC style with the tangy vinegar and ref pepper but more of the georgia style with vinegar, mustard and some other flavors that augment the smoky pork. Go there, eat it, get some to go. If you love Q, you will love Georgia Pig.

I just moved a mile away from this place and tried it out. OMG, the pulled pork sandwich was absolutely delicious when doused in their BBQ sauce. Their baked beans were absolutely fantastic. Theres a couple of really good BBQ places in this area. Tom Jenkins is on Federal just south of Davie Blvd on the east side of the road. I like the baked beans at Georgia Pig better. If youve never been there before, keep in mind that they dont accept debit or credit cards, so bring cash. Luckily I had cash on me.
