The decor was pretty standard but they did have some nice woodwork on their railings and other places on the upper floor. There wasnt much room for people to move in and out of the building though and everything seemed a bit cramped (Yes, skinny kids were even sliding sideways passed each other to get through). When we were getting seated we were placed at a booth that had about six inches between your chest and the table and then the next booth they took us to had almost two feet between us and the tables edge. The server tried to sit us in that tiny seat first and when it didnt work, she just motioned for us to sit in the next one that was too large. It would have been better if she had realized that the spacing was off and we just needed to scoot one of the booth seats back a little. We would have gladly helped but she didnt say a word. It was pretty awkward. The salsa was extra spicy, I think they had added some jalapeno seeds, but both the queso and salsa seemed like the basic kind you get at most places. When the food came out, we were pleasantly surprised that it was not as typical of food like the chips and dip were. The rice was still about average but the refried beans seemed like they were cooked better than most places. The beans were less like a paste and had more chunks of actual bean in them. They were seasoned well and had butter and cheese mixed in. I ordered the Tacos Mexicanos Asada and they were FANTASTIC. The skirt steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the cilantro and onions were fresh and tasty. I threw some of the spicy salsa and some of the rice on mine to kick it up a little bit but it was excellent on its own as well. I think maybe grabbing the food to go would have been better. Because the servers lingering upstairs that kept glancing over at us was a bit weird, and the bathrooms were really unclean. Overall, I had to give them only three stars because of the unclean bathrooms and how the booth situation was handled. I dont know if well go back next time were in town but I really hope we just caught them on a bad day because those tacos were absolutely delicious. Visited the weekend of: 6/17/17

My husband and I were recommended to this restaurant and finally decided to give it a go. I served for years and I know what the business is like, however, the service here was unacceptable. When we entered we were asked how many and once given an answer, we werent told how long it would be or anything, staff just turned their backs so we figured it was a wait. Waited about 15 minutes for a table which wasnt bad but when we got to our table and our server came over, she just stood there, we had to say hello first. WHAT?! After ordering we waited a good 45-50 minutes for our meals. We have two small children who had an order of chicken and fries and they couldnt even bring that out sooner. After FINALLY getting our meals, I find mine was beef tips and I ordered chicken, it was disgusting but I didnt want to wait another 45 minutes for the dish I asked for. The server, including all other staff I saw were unenthusiastic & unattentitive. There wasnt a point in saying anything because no one cared enough to even ask. We will definitely not be back or recommending it to anyone.

My wife got a kind of "breakfast burrito" that was relatively bland. All the flavors kinda just meshed together into one big bland wrapped up mess. It had chorizo and some kind of sauce in it, neither of which you could even taste. I got the mole pablano chicken. It wasnt bland, but it smelled like dog food. Alpo chicken to be precise. And it tasted the same way it smelled, which was bizzare. Mole itself is a very complex sause with a lot of different flavors, this was just one mound of odd flavor, couldnt even taste any chicken. No complaints about the rice and beans, but come on, its rice and bean. Kinda hard to screw that up. Overall, not impressed, wont be returning.

We have visited Carolina Beach many times and always stayed away from trying the only mexican restaurant in town. We are from Colorado and there is a mexican restaurant on every corner and most of them very good so we didnt have high hopes for good mexican on the beach in the south...we were wrong! El Cazador was a great experience ~ even better that many mexican places in Colorado! The menu is extensive and authentic, the food tasty and piping hot, the service very good. The place was clean and a nice location. We didnt drink anything other than iced tea but that was good also! Nice job, El Cazador! Well be back!

Love the atmosphere, good portion food for the cost. Stated my meal came w/ a salad, but only have 2 salad dressings, honey mustard & ranch. I requested Xtra sour cream. My sour cream came slipped on top of my salad, halfway, no salad dressing, when I did get my salad dressing it was served in a packet, which is ok I guess had I received it that way to begin with instead of just being thrown on my table, its definately alot more sanitary that way. My server was great other than making sure our food was AS ordered.

Tourist trap! Was itemized for every item served. Even meals were split up and charged separate for rice and beans. Im from California and understand Spanish and conversation amongst the servers was as rude as you would assume. I asked for habenero sauce and instead was served a burrito that had more jalapeño than it had meat and rice. Horrible service and rediculous prices. I will never eat here again and hope no one else does and this is far from good food, mediocre at best.

Stunned into ravenous submission by hot, lovely fajita steak, juicy peppers, fluffy fried beans with cheese and the softest mexican rice ever! ! The icy refreshment of lemon water was an excellent touch to a meal shared between two that could have fed three. Hunt down the salt for a once over dash and youve got a thoroughly delicious experience ahead of you! The attentiveness of the waitstaff was well timed and not overwhelming at all, much appreciated indeed.

Ive ate here every year for the past four years while on vacation. This year our experience was awful. I always get the $20 burrito. I asked for no green sauce, and it was still put on. My wifes chicken was so tough she couldnt chew it. When our waitress was made aware of the issues, she didnt come back to our table. As we were leaving we spoke to the manager who acted like we were crazy. The tradition of going here, sad to say, has came to an end.

This place was by far the worst place I have eaten at. The server messed up on our drinks several times, and I was trying to explain to the server what drink we want, if they didnt have a drink they gave me what they wanted to give us, then after almost waited an hour to receive our food, the food was very bland, no flavor, everyones food was over cooked or too dry. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money somewhere else!!!!
