OMG, this was the absolute WORST Mexican food weve ever had! El Ranchero puts Mexican food to shame! Their food was rubbery, extremely bland, and totally undercooked. It couldnt be eaten, and we tried to send it back. The soft tortillas were raw, partly frozen, and slimy. The chicken tasted bland & rubbery; as though it were cheap, strained, gristle scrap-meat from the slaughterhouse floor. The elderly-battle-axe female manager was snotty, unbending, and rude when we politely told her and tried to show her that our food wasnt cooked. Pink chicken should NOT be served! I should really call the Board of Health on them. Theyre likely to kill some poor, unobservant senior. The manager kept curtly insisting to us that nothing was wrong with it, and wouldnt take the un-eaten meals back. She and the cooks should be sacked. Theyre clueless, nasty, and need to learn how to cook and give decent, respectful customer service. Sadly, this wasnt the first time weve had a bad experience there with poor food. We gave them several years, and tried returning, hoping theyd change their act. Once bad, always bad, as it turns out. Huge disappointment & total waste of money. Never recommending them to anyone. Rositas in Kingston, NY, or Mexican Radio in Hudson, NY is far better and authentic.

This place was TERRIBLE. First time to this place and needless to say I will NOT be back and would NOT recommend this to anyone. Went here with a large party of people and ended up paying DOUBLE what I should have because the staff refused to split the bill. Two drinks and two meals cost me over 80 dollars. I got the chicken quesadilla which tasted like chopped up turkey in a buttered croissant the rice was incredibly dry and flavorless and the re-fried beans tasted like the came out of a can . I could have made better "authentic" mexican food at home. Absolutely disgusted in the fact that I paid 40 dollars more than my meal should have been and the food tasted like garbage that I could only eat about half and told them to take it away. Literally the worst food I have ever eaten and I would have rather spent my money at chipotle. They should be ashamed charging the prices they do for the crap they serve. They dont even deserve 1 star between the rude service and their food they should do everyone a favor and close their doors.

As with so many other restaurants in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas, El Rancho is overpriced, especially when compared against Mexican restaurants in most other parts of the country. Most of the entrees are $13 and up. Worse, there are many stingy rules: Theres a $4 charge for sharing an entree, and unlike most other Mexican restaurants, only the first serving of chips and salsa is gratis. The salsa is watery. We added some hot sauce to give it some zip. The portions are very generous, and our food came out very, very quickly -- only about 10-15 minutes after we ordered -- but the food is mediocre to middling. Some of the cheese is unusually greasy and of poor quality. The decor is very nice.

Hanging out with my friends was good. Us deciding to eat at El Ranchos was not good. The prices are ridiculous. The cheapest drink is $2, and thats a soda. Not that you have a choice since their water is disgusting. Their food is terrible and expensive. I spent $14 on the greasiest quesadilla of my life. It was fried and leaking with grease. I hardly ate any of it and left the restaurant with a stomach ache. Id rather eat at Taco Bell than this "Authentic Mexican Restaurant".

The food was just alright prices were ridiculous. Our 6$ margarita; which we thought was going to be big; seriously lasted two sips (micro margarita). To share a meal; you have to pay 4 extra dollars! We had 5 people and went through the chips in 5 mins; we had to pay extra for more chips; no matter how big the party! For 5 people it was over $100 it was insane

El Rancho is easily the best authentic mid-priced Mexican food in the land which has the best salsa ever (which you can take home). Nothing fancy, just authentic well prepared Mex food the way the NYC restaurants use to be before American Chefs started taking liberties thus shifting the public perspective on what Mexican food is all about. Enjoy!

This was such a great dinner place. The decor was excellent and the fire places gave it such a warm cozy feel. Service was great and the food was amazing. Good way to end the my day after skiing all day. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have Mexican food in the area, i would visit again for sure.

The food is ok, nothing special but nothing bad. The service is unfortunately slow whether theyre busy or theyre empty. The salsa, however, is AMAZING- and I normally prefer very spicy salsa, which this is not, but it is still worth eating here just for the tasty salsa.

Our favorites are the shrimp quesadillas and and the grilled steak salad. We usually add a homemade black bean soup as well. The service is very warm and friendly. We have had many items on the menu and have enjoyed all!

Best local Mexican food. Good food, inexpensive and happy to customize a meal. Family run. Keep away on weekends when HITS (the horse show) is in town. Have always had good service and meal. Been going here for years.

The food here is quite good. The prices are very fair. Portion size is average - which is not a bad thing. Not a ton of options in the area on this particular stretch of road - so if youre hungry its a good stop.

Could have went to Taco Bell for better food and better wait staff. Could have had steak for the price I paid for a tortilla with ground beef in it.

Nice, place. I may be over generous because it was a nice date with my wife. Food was authentic and margarita was great, as are most.

Rude older waitress, charged for chips and salsa and refills on fountain drink. Bad service, bad pricing, mediocre food at best.

Not the freshest ingredients I had the enchiladas poblano. The chicken and mole sauce should been better.
