My family and I have been coming to this diner for 10 years, the staff know us well. We usually get the dinner specials which have always been very good. The other night we ordered the shell steak and stuffed shrimp, when the food came, the steaks were well done, although we asked for medium rare. We asked that the chef correct his mistake only to then get steaks that were very raw. Once again I asked for the steak to be cooked, only to get it literally 2 minutes later and still raw. When I asked to speak to the manager, who knows us, he flipped out on me saying I wasted 4 steaks and its either pink or not. Ok I get that, and we wanted pink, not raw. He stayed yelling at me that he is charging us for the raw steaks and actually snatched up our plates right from in front of us. I yelled are you serious? This is how you handle customer service? Its your chef that you should be dealing with. Needless to say I looked at my favorite server and said you will never see us again. I am appalled at the treatment a long time customer, who always spends at least 60 bucks each visit, was treated. It was the tall thin owner, and he should not be in charge. Im going to make sure everyone knows what kind of man he is, and he did all this in front of everyone, including my 12 year old son who grew up conning to this diner!

As a regular customer, the service , food and atmosphere is an enjoyable experience. Having eaten there over the last 20 years and though a change in management. Like every diner/restaurant service staff from time to time creates problems. I have seen this at the diner. They have had there fair share of slow waitresses, waitresses who have their head in the clouds, and waitresses who just dont care. Thankfully they are just passing through. The food has always been good and sometimes great. The coffee is never bitter, and always flowing. They will cook your food to your taste. My suggestion is complain if something is not right, they will make it right, and the owner will see that it doesnt happen again. Five years later, and I havent found another diner/restaurant within 20 miles that has fine food, service and really decent prices for breakfast. I have raised them from four to five stars.

I normally have good things to say about this place but today aint the case I fee the owner who was there today has something against kids. From the min we walked in the door he said something to two boys who wasnt even doing anything wrong he yelled at them to go out side and play dont play in his store. Then we sit down to eat and he kept coming by our table made me real uncomfortable and out of place. He yelled at them to take his feet off his seats. If we didnt want to eat we would of walked out. I addressed him and he didnt want to take accountability for his misconduct and didnt offer a apologies. I doubt Ill be back to this place for a long time. Just because you own something dont give you the right to think your better than other people. Without customer you have no business respect the people that walk into you place to enjoy a meal...

One word. ..AWFUL!!. My husband and I have eaten here a few times before. Food was never anything to write home about, however the salad bar that came with dinners was a good value. Desert is also included with some of the meals. On 2 occasions the cakes were stale, so no bargain there. We stopped by Wednesday for dinner. Both of our meals came out cold. We returned to the apologetic waitress. The meals came out cold again. My husbands lamb shanks were served in a tomato type sauce, that looked more like tomato soup with shanks. I had salmon that was inedible. I returned my meal without eating. My husband shared our dissatisfaction with owner. He could care less. The green beans they served with the meal were discolored and obviously canned. Soggy & discolored. Needless to say we will not be returning.

They should have been ashamed to serve me the piece of baklava that they charged me $3.95 for. It was both the worst and most expensive baklava I have ever eaten. It was so old and hard that I couldnt get the fork to pierce even the top layer. I had to tear/chip the top filo layers off only to find out that my teeth also could not bite through the filo because it was like leather. I am afraid to even guess when they made this baklava. A month ago, two months ago, six months ago? It was so dry that it must have been uncovered so I suppose that flies and cockroaches were helping themselves to it before I had the displeasure of having it served to me. The waitress was also nowhere to be found for very long stretches of time.

Visting from CO and weve been to a lot of diners in our time, but this is the BEST hands down! Remebered it being great 25 years ago and it continues to bring great food and terrific service even late at night. Without a doubt the BEST onion rings and Monte Cristo sandwiches in the country...worth the airfare just for the onion rings alone...Cmon people, its a diner and serves diner food!!! Thats what makes it great. If youre looking for fine Greek dining, go to Manhattan. This place has earned the love of the Poughkeepsie community and looking forward to eating there again!

Came in here with a few friends to get some appetizers over the holidays. The wait staff was friendly and sat us right away in a booth. The menu is huge (as expected for any diner) and the prices were reasonable for the most part. We got the fries, spinach and artichoke dip and some fried zucchini and they all came out pretty quickly. The fries were great and had a good crunch to them. The dip was a bit on the heavy side but still tasted great. The fried zucchini was also a bit on the greasy side, but I didnt expect anything else from the diner experience.

Ah, the Acrop. Caters to Vassar students looking for something to eat at 4:00 in the morning. The food is decent, and the service is fine. Somewhat overpriced, but what do you expect? There are better diners in town, but if you want to stay within walking distance, then its a fine choice.

Hubby and I had the Thanksgiving meal here. The wait staff was attentive and we didnt wait long between courses. Choices of 3 soups, salad bar, dessert, coffee or tea. The main entree plate was piled high. Of course we brought food home!

Was there Friday night, and ordered an omelet with home fries. Worst tasting poorly prepared home fries I have ever tasted. This place was once a great dinner, but dont be fooled it is not so any longer.

Our waitress Donna was an absolute sweetheart; she did a wonderful job waiting on us. Everyone was really friendly, and the manager interacted with each and every one of his customers in an upbeat way.
