THE MOST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN MY LIFE! VISIT THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU WANT TO FEEL INSULTED! I feel so bad writing this about a girl, but I have never ever met a more unpleasant hostess EVER. She is the reason why I left the restaurant without even ordering anything. And now I see there are many negative reviews about her here, and hats off to all those people who still stayed and ate. This place is probably owned by an Indian, the hostess was also probably Indian, and being an Indian myself, until today I believed we are known for our hospitality and culture. But what that woman did with us totally changed my mindset. She offered us the smallest table, which could not even fit two plates. And when I asked her if we could take the bigger table because apparently the entire restaurant was EMPTY, she said it was meant for four people and so we cannot sit there. I think she was not intelligent enough to realize that the restaurant was EMPTYYYY!!! Not one soul!!! That pissed me off. I asked her if we could take the other table that was a little bigger, she gave me a dirty look and said OK. I was so close to leaving that place but I thought of giving her a second chance. Then, she gave us the menu. We told her we have a groupon, and she gave us the look again, as if it were a crime to use coupons!! She said, wait, let me get you another menu for the groupon deal. WHY DID THEY NOT MENTION THIS IN THE DESCRIPTION ON GROUPON?? No idea. Then, she asked us to show her the coupon so she could redeem it. We told her to not redeem it till we order because apparently I am on a no meat diet and because they had a SEPARATE menu for GROUPON customers, I wanted to check my options before placing an order. What happened next?? That woman, said, in a ridiculous tone, if you want to eat, I will have to redeem it. If you dont want to eat, I will not. This got me mad. Very mad. And I got up, all set to leave. Then, she crosses all her limits, and says the unthinkable. YOU CANNOT EXPECT TO COME HERE AND GET FREE FOOD!! Hahahahahahhaha!! I was like WHAT???????????? I dont think I need to elaborate more. Please do not visit this place. They must know that their business runs because of CUSTOMERS. And they HAVE TO treat them right. And I left, saying "this is where you will be all your life".

Im a big fan of Indian food, and I actually prefer the food at the inexpensive Indian restaurants vs. most of the over-priced pretentious ones that Ive been to. As for Indigo, I had to try it since it was only a few blocks from my apartment, and he prices seemed very reasonable. For Sunday dinner, the setting was intimate and very quiet, there were only two tables (including ours) that had diners. Heres what I will say about the food - its not the tastiest Indian food that Ive had, but I realized this is because the chef chose to cook it healthier than what Ive been used to. For example - the garlic naan seemed drier - but this is because they didnt soak it in butter or oil as many Indian restaurants do. This goes for the rice as well - it was fluffier and not greasy. The chicken korma was good, but they used white meat instead of dark meat - which to me is not as tasty (but healthier). The korma sauce as not as rich - seems they used less cream. Also, the food was slightly blander than Im used to, but this is because they used less salt - I suppose I could have asked for some table salt, but I actually chose to just leave it. Overall, a very good meal that seemed healthier though at the expense of some taste - but I consider it a good trade-off. I will be back!

Extremely Horrible service. A groupon deal took us to this place. They have a separate menu for Groupon Customers - which is actually not a big deal. But the surprising part is when I asked if I could have a beer ($5) instead of a glass of wine ($6) I was told no flat out. The "manager" is a young girl who has no customer service whatsoever, forget about making the experience int he restaurant a good one to retain the customers. The server there was a much better guy than the manager who was curt and not at friendly to talk to. The food was definitely not worth it - the paneer we ordered which was medium spicy was actually SWEET! This food is no where close to Indian food. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. There are much better places in the city than this unfriendly joint.

their buffet at $8.50 is the best kept secret at the united nations from noon to two p.m. when many employees weekdays enjoy the generous delicious buffet, salad, three hot vegetarian and three meat dishes naan bread tandori chicken rice and rice salad with a glass of water and rice pudding desset however the fifty seat place is empty saturday, sunday and u.n. holidays for lunch .the toilets are very clean and the location is three short blocks up the hill from the 47th street and first avenue entrance of the united nations visitors building, it would be a great venue for parties children and grown-ups and they welcome children and families serving non-alcoholic and wine, beer and liquor as well, a great and friendly place!

I wouldnt have thought to come here if it wasnt for a LivingSocial deal, but this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Its not fancy, but the food tasted good and I left satisfied. We ordered lamb dishes in various sauces that we poured over rice and dipped naan in. This place gives stuffed naan and roti options, which I hadnt seen at other Indian restaurants. The quantity didnt look like much at first, but the sauces were very rich and so we ended up packing leftovers because we were so full. Service was excellent!

This is a neighborhood and a local UN joint. Ive visited this spot since 2007. The woman who is the host and waitress is always pleasant. Some of the reviewers here are mean, and really are not real reviewers. In opening their other review history, they have only one review on their profile. Yep this one. So clearly, you have a disgruntled customer. If youre looking for mind-blowing Indian, this is not the spot, but if youre looking for a regular consistent spot around the corner, this place never fails.

The staff was extremely nice and the overall experience (service, ambience, etc) was good. The food was a mixed bag. We were there with a group of 6 so we all got to try several of the dishes. Some of the dishes were great (aloo gobi). Other dishes were just ok (chicken tikka masala) and some were rather disappointing (baingan bartha...so bland). Overall, Id say it was a good experience and the prices are extremely reasonable.

Indigo Indian Bistro was a nice and quiet place for dinner. The staff was courteous and we were well attended. The food was great. After a mistake on our order the server did not hesitate to correct our order at their expense (expected but also without hassle). Overall the prices are very fair and for Indian food in this part of town Indigo is highly recommended.
