BRFC does chikn riiiight, right? yes. the chicken? good. i find the per price chicken pieces (thighs, breasts, wings, drumsticks) a bit high and for chumps. dont get me wrong--the fried bird is good, but to me not worth the up-price for every day eating. i do think that the sandwich menu is where its at. i really like the "cheesy supreme"; "firebird" and bbq sandwich are all under$10 BRFC does over-the-top special fried chicken sandwiches monthly is typically pretty amazing (depending on the price)...like the double fried chicken patty "smorgasbird" is insanely delicious and shareable -- filled with pineapple, lettuce, tomato, pickled cucumbers, drowned in Blue Ribbon special sauce and filled with fries. the side items are good like the mac n cheese, but the small is really effing small. there are Boylan fountain taps.i mix up crazy flavors if i get a soda for in-house dining! bright VERY clean east village location. subway convenient--2nd Ave stop. casual fast-ish food eatery. standard set-up. order at the counter. the cashier hands you a buzzer thatll go off when your takeout or dine-in order is ready. theres a whole assortment of sauces that you can pour in to-go cups OR on your food for dine-in. everything is very organized. if you are spicy-heat sensitive...taste test before drowning your chicken in it...you were warned. the space is fairly large and has a modern cafeteria feel to it. perfect for casual meals with friends, food tourism with food enthusiasts, or soloing a meal and drowning your sorrows in fried goodness. BRFC is a must for fried chicken addicts, not because its the best...but more because of the consistency. NOW. HERES. THE. RUB. these chicken slingers use/used "pay-to-play" food instagrammers to hype everything here. lots of "popular" places do this now and BRFC are not the only ones doing it, just calling them out. im just not down with it-- it irks me to no-end bc the food is good enough that it doesnt need this shizzz. this type o social media practice is a bit gross. drops mic cuz i pay people to pick them up.

I admit, I do have a passion for a well fried bird. But this bird is not only flightless, its tasteless. At first I was impressed by the array of spices and condiments available, but after taking a few bites out of the bird I understood the true reason why they were there. The bird looks tasty, the bird looks delicious, your mouth begins to water as you imagine biting into it, one bite, another bite and suddenly your mouth is filled with some substance that you cant identify. You start to think, maybe its styrofoam, maybe its rubber, maybe its some byproduct of cardboard production, maybe you developed a brain tumor and your taste buds no longer function??? Thats when you reach for the bottles on the table. Without smothering the substance with condiments you wont be able to swallow a bite. They call it a chicken??? Fast food joints serve better chicken than that and we all know but prefer not to think what those are made from. 0 stars for the bird, 1star for keeping the place clean and being nice to customers.

I always get criticized when I mention that one of my favorite restaurants is this one. People always say "oh with the ethnic melting pot that is New York, how can you possibly get fried chicken there?!" Well, sometimes you want something ultra fancy..and other times, you just want some good old fashioned soul food! And thats precisely what Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken specializes in. There are a lot of things on the menu, there are two things I always come back to. That is of course, the fries, and dark meat fried chicken. The chicken is always crispy, the fries are never soggy, and its some of the best fried chicken youll have. Everything is run fast food style, which means the service isnt extraordinary, but thats irrelevant because youre just here for fried chicken! The ambiance isnt anything special, but the food is. The price point is more than KFC and the like, but the quality is tenfold better. If you are a chicken lover, there isnt a better place in NYC for you.

Really good food here. My wife and I both got chicken sandwiches, mac n cheese, and hush puppies. Everything was delicious, but no butter available for hush puppies made them taste slightly dry. It is a cafeteria setting. You order your food first, then they give you a beeper device that vibrates when your food is ready. They also have free cups of water on the side counter and free fountain drink refills. Also, rockabilly music by Elvis and Johnny Cash was playing in the background, which was a nice bonus. The individual chicken pieces are ridiculously expensive, but chicken sandwiches are about $9 - $10, and sides are about $3.70 each. Their website has an up to date menu with prices. Also, since you clean up after yourself and there is no waiter service, there is no obligation to tip, so the final price balances itself out. I will definitely return. Food was great and filling. Servers were very friendly.

The Black&Blue Nashville hot style sandwich made with buttermilk marinated crispy chicken, smothered in spicy oil, served with pickles and a creamy buttermilk dill dressing had me drooling just at that description. I admit hearing about this special sandwich only available in January 2017 was the only reason I came to Blue Ribbon in the first place. And it was worth it. I dont usually eat this kind of food, so I probably wont be back soon. But when a craving for a delicious chicken sandwich hits Ill definitely be back. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. Theres a lot of natural light and the visual marketing is pretty modern. Some things I really loved were the robust selection of sauces, the giant water cooler, and the variety of seating options.

Was out and about and thought I would give this place a try. A friend in the city stated that they were like Chick-fil-a on steroids, so I thought why not? Restaurant was really dirty inside. They were busy so I understood to a point, but thought they should have someone else bussing tables if they knew theyd be swamped. I opted for a simple chicken sandwich with some fries. Chicken truly was tasty and the bun was quite fresh. I wasnt thrilled that the mayo was overkill and ended up scraping some of it off. Fries were pretty good, Ive had better, had worse, but at least they were fresh. I would probably give this place another try but would look at the actual fried chicken on the menu for something different.

Was blown away by the wings with the sweet potato fries. In addition I complimented my experience by drowning the fries and chicken with their wasabi honey! To top it off I had delicious sides of corn and cole slaw which was phenomenal. I then ended my experience with an ice cold Six Point Sweet Action, everything came out to cheap. Considering I had just finishing having some of the best chicken I have ever had in New York City. I strongly recommend you try it. Another thing is every time I go there theres someone famous. One time Dave Chappell was there then Rosie Perez, Camron, and Seth Rogen. So it must be a celebrity hot spot. Btw I also found out all products are fried in organic soy oil.

After seeing a video on Facebook, i knew i had to come here! By far the best fried chicken that Ive had. The chicken sandwiches are deliciously and cooked to perfection, and i am absolutely in love with the chicken tenders. Extremely tasty, juicy and cooked just right. Also do yourself a favor and get the fries fully loaded! absolutely delicious! They offer boylan sodas as beverages and also some beer options. The cashiers are very friendly and patient as you give your order. The seating area is medium sized, especially when the place is busy, so if youre going in a large group a recommend someone start looking for seats as soon as you enter.
